Nice jazzy album, good vibe. Great background music. Should definitely listen more often.

This music is so out of my wheelhouse of Classic Rock and Metal, but I love it! So much fun, with creative layering of samples upon samples. Definitely may end up as one of my favorite albums.

Green Day is a guilty pleasure for me. I generally don't like the "pop punk" genre. This album has a few longer, more ambitious songs, and some of the singles are pretty good. But it's not a good album start-to-finish. There's quite a few skipped songs on this album.

I love the sound of this album, and I will definitely give it more listens. I've always heard of this band, but the only song I knew was "Town called Malice." Good stuff for 1978, though some of the songs are a little too poppy at times.

I used to love this album back when it came out. Amazing songwriting, but the production is keeping it from a five. The drum sound is horrific at times.

I absolutely love "If You're Feeling Sinister." It's one of my favorite albums of all time, but it's really the only album I've heard from this band. I enjoyed most of the album, but it's not nearly as good as "Sinister." Maybe after a few listens, it may grow on me.

RIP Dolly. I don't know much about her music, but I know that she actually wrote her own songs (most of them) and wrote for other people, which I give great respect to. This was an album of short catchy songs, all fun to listen to, and the whole album is less than 30 minutes. The world has lost a great talent and a beautiful person.

I love Pink Floyd, and I love this album. Especially Shine on You Crazy Diamond.

Cool vibe. A historic album that inspired a lot of other genres to come.

Rush is one of my favorite bands, and I Side 1 of this album is s-tier. But side 2 is just ok.

I've heard a lot of Ray Charles that I love, but this album didn't do it for me until the last 3 songs (which were phenomenal).

I like a lot of what Bowie does, I love some of it, and some of it is just okay. Having said that, I hadn't heard most of this album, but the songs on this album follow the same pattern - i loved some, liked some, and some are just ok. Will listen again.

This is the first Paul McCartney solo album I've ever heard. Very good, but not great. Some songs remind me of the bad White Album songs.

It's obvious she only got her recording contract because she's Beyonce's sister. Her voice is good, and the album is recorded and produced well, but the songs are just boring. Not for me, dawg.

This album is a collection of some very good stuff, and some un-memorable stuff. I would have liked this a lot more hearing it for the first time when it came out.

This is the second album the "generator" has given me - both of them are brilliant! The first album was Pink Moon, which is great, but I have to be in a certain mood to listen to that stripped-down type of music. This album, however, is much more something I'd listen to often. It's always great to discover artists I've never heard before.

Besides the Dukes of Hazard song, I'm not sure I've heard Waylon Jennings before (though I've heard his name for sure). I like the sound of this album, and it's great old-style country.

A great album - so much fun, I couldn't help but smiling at times. Some of it I've heard before because I had a lot of friends back in the day who liked this album, so there was a little nostalgia..."I remember this!"

There's a few really good songs, but it's way over-produced for my taste. I agree with one review I read that called it "sterile."

When this album, there were aspects of this band/album that I liked and aspects that I didn't. I still listened a lot, without loving the album. I feel the same now - it's nice to hear now as nostalgia, but I still don't love it. If I could, I would give it 3.5

Very long album. Excruciatingly long. Awful. I would give it one star according to my taste, but I can see how this would be enjoyable to some, and there is definitely talent in the songwriting and performance. It's just too theatrical and polished for my taste. So....2 stars.

It's funny. I listened to Pulp and Ute Lemper albums, and both are not my type of music and I hated almost every minute. Nas is also not the type of music I typically listen to, but it's much more enjoyable to listen to.

I've only heard their hits, like You Really Got Me, Layla, and Come Dancing. Many of my friends who know my taste in music have often told me I would like the Kinks. They weren't wrong!! This is great album of well-crafted satirical songs from the 60s British pop era. I like this better than the Beatles and the Who.

I've never heard of this band. The sounds and production are dated, but I like the music a lot. Not a big fan of the vocals - I would have preferred it with no lyrics or lyrics buried in the mix.

I know a lot of Beatles songs—both the hits and the deep cuts—but I'm not actually that familiar with their albums as complete works. I just listened to Abbey Road from beginning to end, and I don't think I'd ever done that before. The first thing that struck me is how nice this album sounds. The production is remarkably clean for 1969. Everything has its place, and even more impressive to me is how stripped-down much of it feels. The songs aren't busy. The arrangements give the songs room to breathe, which I really appreciate. Regardless of your opinion of the Beatles, they were great at writing catchy songs. They also had a real gift for musical transitions—a bridge, chorus, chord change, or unexpected turn that takes a simple song somewhere else. The songcraft is naturally pleasing to hear in my opinion. At the same time, an entire album of catchy pop songs isn't normally my thing. That's part of what surprised me about Abbey Road. There's more going on here. They're actually playing their instruments well, they're having fun with the songwriting, and they're experimenting without forgetting that they need to entertain the listener. I've read criticism of the medley on the second side, unfinished song fragments cobbled together. I actually like it. These may be unfinished pieces, but they're unfinished pieces from one of the biggest most influential bands in the history of rock, recorded near the end of their time together. I'm glad we have them. And the way they're assembled turns those fragments into something more interesting than they might have been individually. (As a big prog-rock fan, squeezing too many ideas into 16 minutes is common to my ears.) This isn't a collection of my favorite Beatles songs, but as an album, it's remarkably consistent. It's a great collection of tunes, beautifully recorded and creatively put together, without much of a drop in quality from beginning to end.

This is a lot of fun. It's interesting - it's punk-ish, but not as angry. With 2-3 more listens, these songs would easily get stuck in my head. Side note: For me, there are a quite a bit of albums and bands that aren't big in the US, but were pretty big in the UK. I'm curious if this list of 1001 Albums was curated by someone from the UK?
