Superfly by Curtis Mayfield

Fun and easy enough to listen to. Found some of the drug references and language a bit challenging, but interesting

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Sep 05 2026

No standout songs but sounded much more blues than other Rolling Stones albums I’ve heard. Is it earlier than their more rock albums? If so that’s some interesting context in terms of bridging music history. Ok not that early at all. Is it a back to their roots thing? Idk, not the biggest fan but it’s good to listen to a bit more of their discog I guess.

Mid, too loud without enough music, just not my thing

21 by Adele
Sep 09 2026

It’s solid, classic, full of bangers. Maybe more a 4.5, but definitely holds up well years on.

White Light by Gene Clark
Sep 10 2026

A nice listen, average but pleasant

Mott by Mott The Hoople

Really excited by this discovery! It’s something I’d never heard of before and will continue to listen to.

Very much of the time - I can hear The Smiths and Talking Heads but maybe they took inspiration from these guys instead of being their inspiration. It’s (relatively) easy now to name the greatest musicians of 50 years ago, but why is this relatively obscure instead of The Smiths, Bowie or Talking Heads? It sounds similar to me and I think it’s not as good, but is that just because I lack familiarity? It’s a really interesting listen and I find myself contemplating what is good and what do I look for in music. I don’t think all that much of it ultimately though.
