Cafe Bleu by The Style Council

It's an interesting exploration of different genres, but not really a great version of any of them. The rap especially I could have done without. I would listen again to a few tracks for sure, but nothing on this stands out to me as a must listen.

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Sep 16 2026

Almost perfect. Almost every song is a banger. Lots of range.

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen

Dookie by Green Day

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Sep 27 2026

Super solid, blackmore solos are fabulous, the band has their own unique sound somewhere in the blue hard rock metal sphere. I'd heard these all before but been a while since I revisited the ones that weren't singles

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Sep 28 2026

It grew on me on a second listen even though it's not really my thing, quite enjoyed the chord changes and the key choices.

25 by Adele
Sep 29 2026

A couple solid works of art in this album. Very strong voice, that maybe gets a little old over an entire albums worth. But girl, what is with all the angst and single subject matter that's been covered a billion times before. Like you're only 25, you should be out catching stray dick not crying about every relationship you've ever had.

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Sep 30 2026

The album you play while drinking Yuengling at a new jersey dive bar after your shift unloading cargo ships or making Taylor Ham.

Kenya by Machito
Oct 02 2026

It's a fun album and very energetic with some good solos. I am not super into the big band stuff though and the blaring horns that chime in all the time got pretty old. I know it's part of the whole thing but I'm over it.

Revolver by Beatles
Oct 03 2026

She said I know what it's like to be dead. About sums it up for me in a special way when I consider this album in historic context as a Beatles super fan.

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Oct 04 2026

Some cool unique sounds across the entire album, but it wasn't as interesting as I was hoping it would be. Autobahn could have been like 1/5 the length. Found where some MGMT inspiration came from.

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Oct 05 2026

Clean powerful sound and voice. A couple tracks I really liked. Soft shock is a fantastic production!

Tellin’ Stories by The Charlatans
Oct 07 2026

It's pretty much just one long generic British rock song.

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Oct 08 2026

I like how honest and unpretentious Willies voice is. My impression was that there's nothing easier to listen to than this in the morning (not that it's easy listening). Some covers from what I heard. Nothing super profound that stood out.

Boston by Boston
Oct 09 2026

Overall, it slaps! They bring the energy and the songs are interesting. I actually think this would be a fun show.

Oct 10 2026

CREAM is a masterpiece, most of the rest of it is just alright. The beats are kind of bleh, the delivery is very new york and aggressive (as it's meant to be I'm sure, but I don't care for it).

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Oct 11 2026

Dank. One of the guys on this is having dinner with Martha Stewart at the Olympics now. Imagine going back in time and telling them that would happen when they were recording this :D

Sister by Sonic Youth
Oct 12 2026

This one was polarizing for me. There were some songs I liked a good bit... sonically and some that I really didn't enjoy. The guitar especially I found the timbre unpleasant at times (I guess the discord is international) and there was an element of jam band noodling to the parts that annoyed me. But despite those complaints there were definitely a few songs I would revisit and I get the sound they were going for.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Oct 13 2026

Splitting hairs but more like a 3.5 for me. I already had strong time and place associations with this album but it's been a while since I heard it front to back and I forgot which tracks were on it. Not my favorite arcade fire album but all the elements that I love them for show up here and there.

Time Out Of Mind by Bob Dylan
Oct 14 2026

I gave it a 2 listens as a non Bob guy and I enjoyed some of the soundscape and a couple of the songs. It's all storytelling and for me its a different kind of listening experience but not something thats super engaging. Too much of the same blues. Will go back for hard boiled eggs!

A Walk Across The Rooftops by The Blue Nile
Oct 15 2026

Heartfelt, evoking. There's something there that I would probably appreciate more if I had more background.

Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
Oct 16 2026

This one was tough for me. It's undeniable that Jimi is immensely talented and invented his own unique guitar sound that can be incredible. But outside of the tracks that everyone already knows and loves, I found this album kind of a slog. A long psychedelic ish ramble with some bits of guitar genius here and there.

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Oct 17 2026

It was fun for a time but some of the tracks got so repetitive that I started to resent them.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Oct 18 2026

I got more into it after I gave it some more time and a few listens. There are a few tracks aside from the classics that I put on my return to list. It sounds like Petty but maybe not full Petty quite yet but still with that unique take and style. It's close to a 4.

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Oct 19 2026

I wasn't much of a fan before but this album partially converted me. Aggressively 4/4 and a bit homogeneous, the sound is undeniably clean and powerful. Somewhere at the crossroads of new wave and maybe even Springsteen... With a few Dylan intonations thrown in. This is a great album to take a solo evening walk to or put on for a road trip.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Oct 20 2026

Thought provoking. Has a couple of my favorite heads tracks. As a whole not their most engaging package.

Central Reservation by Beth Orton
Oct 21 2026

Aside from the occasional bit of electronica mixed in, this wasn't really for me. I'm not sure what makes this an essential listen
