Really nice autumn album. Visions especially. I think I've heard All is Fair before?? the speaking parts in this album are interesting lol. Don't You Worry Bout a Thing is maybe my favorite!
GREAT ALBUM COVER GETS BONUS POINTS
I can imagine old white dudes getting absolutely smashed at a Santana concert. I need an outdoor venue and a margarita with a crazy straw please. The instrumentals are great, whenever there were vocals it was a nice addition. Multiple layers to each song and can shift to a totally different sound by the end of it. Oye Como Va is the obvious banger here but was also a fan of Incident at Neshabur, Mothers Daughter, and the one with the weird title lol. Songs kinda blended together so it was hard to tell when a new one starts and one ends, but they all had amazing energy it made up for it.
There's a Jojo character named after this!
I don't know if I've ever actually listened to 'It's Tricky' in full but DAMN this is a bangerrrrr. THE AEROSMITH FEATURE??!! fuck that's good. The clonky drums in Is It Live??? the beat boxing in Hit It Run??? god I love the blend of rap and rock. this did not disappoint, a legendary album. if this was outta 10 I'd give an 8 maybe.
This has made me realize I don't think I've ever REALLY truly fully listened to this album. isnt that insane??? Anyway, my connection with Gorillaz has always been present and in orbit. Everytime I found an undiscovered(to me) song of theirs I always loved it. So happy for this to be the album of the day especially since it's so important to *YOUUUU*
I fucking loved this, I have some new favorites in the songs I didn't know. An incredibly dynamic album that truly makes you feel like you'll neva know their next move.
Songs I was unfamiliar with: M1 A1**, New Genius, Man Research, Punk, Starshine**, Slow Country**, Dracula**
Favorites: Tomorrow Comes Today, Rock the House, M1 A1, Sound Check(Gravity), ah fuck this is just my favorite bass lines list. I'm noticing a pattern
random notes:
Gorillaz(band) is integral to my bass playing journey as Feel Good Inc was the first song I learned!!! Client Eastwood was the second and is one of my favorites. Fuck the bass lines in this are unreal. That's one of the biggest draws for me in this album and the band as a whole(hole).
Vinny thank God you led me to this version of the album otherwise I wouldn't have known to listen to Dracula which is so groovy. again, BASSLINES!!!! thank you
M1 A1 using a sample of Day of the Dead is sooo fucking cool especially as someone who was obsessed with George A Romero movies as a kid. This is a new favorite.
*Minor thing the low slide bass in Re-Hash sounds exactly like the power off noise for my ear buds. kept fucking with me but good song.
I really wish I could hear Rock the House for the first time again.
I'm sorry is that TINA WEYMOUTH FEATURE IN 19-2000?????!!??!??! she is an inspiration
Alright we're watching Bananaz.
not for me, though I can appreciate some elements this was not easy to listen to
liked the speaking part in "You Took the Words Right Out of my Mouth"
I don't think I'd listen to this album again but I did enjoy it. I had a The Police phase when I was a kid and by that I mean I just liked their hits lol. Not bad and Every Breath You Take is iconic
O My God, King of Pain, Murder By Numbers
There's a Jojo character named after this!!!
oh my goddd YESSSS
I've never heard this version of smooth operator but I love it
sades music is absolutely timeless. the basslines go so hard
favorites are: smooth operator, hang on to your love, cherry pie
no skip album!!! also this is a Jojo reference!!!
Not what i was expecting at all. Pleasantly surprised? I kinda fw this, I'm hearing a lot of different influences here and some songs feel very experimental. I like it!! This band apparently changes genres a lot so may listen to more of their stuff. 3½✨
Come Together, Loaded(Fatboy Slim vibes here), Damaged, Shine Like Stars
