For years I though My Bloody Valentine were a shitty emo band but only recently I found out I was completely wrong and they are excellent.
A wonderful album. Each track an excellent story of murder in different styles. Features two duets, one with Cave's former partner PJ Harvey and the other with another of Australia's finest exports, Kylie. The duet with Kylie I think represents the attention to songwriting that both artists are appreciated for. Cave and Minogue still perform the track together today. I believe this album, along with the previous Let Love In highlights Nick Cave's final step in transition from hard post-punk toward more experimental alternative rock and the run of albums following Murder Ballads go from strength to strength. It feels like Cave unlocked his USP in Murder Ballads and Let Love In which had always been there but needed the platform and right moment to bring it to the front. Today Nick Cave plays more of a piano man persona but the core link back to Murder Ballads is still at the forefront of his performances.
Not my cup of tea completely but happy to drink it anyway
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I knew of Fairport Convention but hadn't really listened so this was a very pleasant surprise
Not my cup of tea completely but happy to drink it anyway
An excellent album but not as good as College Dropout
It got better as I got used to it but I'll leave it for the biiiiiiirds
Not bad at all. Too many flutes. Shame about the addiction and racism.
That was lovely and excellent. Grew up in High Wycombe. Who knew?!
Some songs a bit forgettable but others are excellent
Was a little disappointed. Expected more. Some good tracks but not enough bangers
enjoyed that, not all good but the good bits were good
Some bangers but too much breaking it down, taking it to the bridge and shouting. Maybe cause it was a live album.
That confused me. Had some banging guitar bits but was also really shit in some parts.

I enjoyed this but didn't love it. I think if I was seeing them live I really like them but nothing really drew me back to the album. As discussed I think they are a time sensitive band and listening to them now they just sound like many others bands but looking at the year this album came out it must have been a pretty fresh sound.
I just can't get on board with RHCP. Yes their singles are bangers but it's all the same to me, slappadabass, some fast rapsinging then a bit of slow singing and repeat. I also just don't like his voice. I don't think they are bad but just not what I want from life.
This was good. It was good, I liked it but I just didn't like it enough.
What a treat. Didn't really know Carole King except from the Gilmore Girls theme but this was great and I knew a lot more songs than I thought I would.
I really wanted to enjoy this more than I did but I just found it a bit boring and samey.
I really liked this album. I'm not sure I really knew anything about Eels beforehand so it was a pleasant surprise!
That was really good. I knew Kendrick Lamar but not well and I didn't know that album. But it was a goodun.
Weirdly this ticked all the boxes of the kind of thing I like bit I just found it a bit boring and forgettable.
This was like something we'd do in AS Music Tech. It occasionally resembled music but you would expect that from something on this list.
This was enjoyable enough, nice to bop to. In the right circumstances this would be great fun, unfortunately not as fun just sitting at a desk listening.
This was good but not great. Superstition is obviously a banger but there was nothing else amazing.
Really enjoyed this one. Would give a longer review but in a rush.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I knew of Fairport Convention but hadn't really listened so this was a very pleasant surprise
This has been my favourite one we've had so far. I find it such an original album unlike anything else, even Velvet Underground. It's got some ultimate bangers on it.
This was good fun but not as good as the other Sly album we've had.
I've never known what to think about Randy Newman, he's got a very distinctive voice and style but I find him a bit repetitive. His satirical songs can be a bit hard to understand what he's actually satirising but maybe that's just a time culture difference. For example his 'Rednecks' song just seems to be 'Indon't like Rednecks so I'll pretend to be one in this song'
That was spectacular, I bloody loved it. I only really knew Leonard Cohen's 'hits' but this album was amazing. And released just 3 months before he died.
It's a goooooood one. Not sure what else to say, just excellent guitar playing, singer, what a sound, boy oh boy.
This was not what I expected it to be but it's quite good.
Wonderful. This was Bruce's album after a long hiatus from music and even longer one from the E Street Band. It appears quite light hearted but there are some quite meaningful and clever songs in there such as the Rising, You're Missing and Mary's Place. I feel that these great songs are lost a bit in the more 'party songs' such as Waiting on a Sunny Day, especially for first time listeners. Nevertheless, I love this album but I did hope that the first Bruce album on this list would have been one of the earlier more accessible ones.
This is such a great classic hip hop album. Obviously Can I Kick It is a banger but Push It Along is just as high on my bangerometer.
An exceptional album. Has two of the best Led Zeppelin songs on it in Whole Lotta Love and Ramble On. Led Zeppelin are great at really maintaining a blues feel, even folky in some areas but with a more heavy rock exterior which I think is what makes them so good.
Boring! This had a grand total of ZERO bangers upon it. Only got two stars because Michael Stipe does has a good voice none the less.
I quite liked this. It had some really good sounding guitar and was more melodic than the previous one.
This was more bearable that the other jazz ones we've had but still not that nice.
This had some good rhythm, some nice guitar and a good sound but over all it just felt a bit flat. Felt like it was trying to copy a lot of better bands in the same genre rather than being something different.
Not bad, not bad at all. I think in 1994 this would have been a very different and exciting album amongst other grundy music but it's hard to listen and not just think of more seminal bands from that era.
This was pretty good but it was quite long and I got a bit bored.
This was not good. It seemed pretty soulless. Also Mr Green appear to be not a good person.
One of the tip top hip hop albums of all times. Magnificent.
A classic album for sure with some of the bangerest bangers on it but the interim songs weren't so good.
I've never been a massive fan of Queen apart from the hits but this was pretty good and I can't deny their musical importance so it's a thumbs up from Cress.
A pretty impressive feat and some incredible guitar and keyboard skillz but didn't rouse me up as much as I thought it would.
Not bad but the Come Dine With Me thing just made the whole thing sound like a backing track or theme tune. What a sad little life.
John Lee Hooker is excellent, I could bathe in his music all day long.
I love this album. Heroin is a banger and a half.
I really liked this album. Pleasant Street is a banger and a half.
Loved it. Billy Bragg took a load of old lyrics of Woody Guthrie's and put these songs together trying to imagine how he'd do them if he were alive today. Plus there are two more of these albums.
I love Paul Simon's style. It very recognisable but still very varied from album to album. This would have five stars but Cars Are Cars was just too much.
It was alright, interesting in places but wouldn't seek it out again
I was pleasantly surprised by this. Never listened to this album before and only really knew Gazza's hits but I enjoyed this one.
This album occasionally peaked my interest with some good guitar and rhythm but then it would go completely mad and unlistenable.
Submerge me in a big hot bath of Muddy Waters. I drink up this music. Bloody love it.
I love this album so very much. Into My Arms is one of my favourite songs ever, it's magnificent. People Ain't No Good and Far From Me are also perfect songs. WHAT AN ALBUM
This was good but not as good as other Eurythmics albums. Obviously got an ultimate class A banger on there but one top banger does not a banging album make.
This was fine but thats about it. I've never been a big fan of Mr Costello except for the hits.
I was never that much of a fan of Franz Ferdinand at the time, the hits sounds a bit cheesy to me and not in a good way but I did enjoy this overall
80s drivel in my personal honest opinion. But I guess it had some merit.
I quite liked this. A bit long and a little repetitive but I like that kind of music so that was okay.
It's great how perfectly 90s this album sounded even though I'd never heard it before. But it wasn't brilliant.
I found the music in this really good and interesting mixed with the vocals but I didn't find the lyrics that great.
Not a huge reggae fan. I like it as background but don't know enough to know what's good and what isn't. Either way this was A okay.
Enjoyable. Work It is a banger OBVS. Missy Elliot, more like Missy Good Album.
This was fine. It was okay. It'll do. Like how Chole described Franz Ferdinand as 'landfill indie', this is 'landfill 90s alt-rock'
This was really good and exactly why I am enjoying doing this whole thing. Never heard of this album before but really liked it.
This was great. Country can be a bit hit and miss and I can't listen to it for too long but I really liked this album. Although it's got a few covers on it, it's not a covers album but Emmylou Harris only has a writing credit for one song. Interesting stuff.
Not bad, not bad at all. I found it started to sound all the same toward the end though.
Just found that really dull. It wasn't necessarily bad I just got quite bored.
This was alright but a bit boring. I wanted to like it more than I would. For a 36 min album it felt longer. Too much Jesus too.
I unexpectedly liked this. At first I thought I was going to get bored but it was good.
This album was fine. I liked it for background listening and it was interesting in places but nothing to rave about.
I really like Eric Clapton but some of his stuff is a little weak. This was a bit weak in places. Reptile is his best album in my personal opinion
It is a great album from a great man. Remember when Gal Gadot and her 'friends' did Imagine at the start of lockdown?
I love this album. It's so interesting and the vocals are great and the structure is fresh. Love it.
I love this album very much. It was the first Bob Dylan album I properly listened to when I was about 15 and it blew my little mind. The structure of the songs was so different to anything else and the lyrics were supreme. God bless Bobbles.
I've always liked Madness but only really as a passing thing for their hits and what not but as a full album this was ruddy good.
Not bad, I like Flaming Lips but I must admit I get a bit bored after a while with them.
I ruddy love Tom Petty, he's wonderful. This is a fantastic album with some of his best.
I didn't get much from this. It wasn't completely awful but just not of interest to me. I appreciate that people really like death metal and I can understand why but I just don't want to listen to it.
For years I though My Bloody Valentine were a shitty emo band but only recently I found out I was completely wrong and they are excellent.
This was a goodun, don't really know the band much but really enjoyed this album
At first I thought it sounded like any other rock n roll from that era and a bit forgettable but as it went on it got better, good fun. Can't believe Chole gave it a 1.
Hmmmmm. He's got a great voice no doubt, but it's used too much as the USP. The songs could be good without such an overbearing voice and in some places it detracts from a good song. None the less he is a very prominent musical figure and has influenced a lot of great stuff.
Not bad. Some nice bass. Looked him up and he plays a very nice looking 6 string bass. Some good tracks and sections but a bit all over the place. Not bad though, not bad.
This is a good album. Not typically my kind of thing and I wouldn't really put it on for fun but I can't deny how interesting it is and fresh. Feels like it was way ahead of its time.
It was alright, a bit too all over the place though
This was like a technically gifted school child was given a task to write a 'metal' album. A complete load of unimaginative rubbish.
I'm my opinion Like A Prayer is the greatest pop song ever written. However, as a full album this is not the best. I'm shocked to see that Lucky Star isn't on this list because I think it's a much better album. Regardless it is a good album.
It was okay. Upbeat and fun but not a genre I normally partake in.
Not bad but not great. All felt a bit simple and based off one sound. I think they got better as a band but this wasn't the best.
I found this quite hard to get through. It wasn't bad as such just felt long and I really hate those little skits of vocals they have between tracks on rap albums.
I love Alice Cooper. He is great, I listened to him on 6Music recently and he's just a really nice guy who loves the performance and campness of glam rock. This album was pretty good, not as good as Trash.
This was a weird one for me. I liked the voice, I liked the music but I found the overall thing a bit lacking, the lyrics were simple and I couldn't forgive naming a track 2 Kool 2 B 4-Gotten. It sounded a bit like if you told an AI to write a country/Americana album. It was like a much cheaper version of Sheryl Crow (who I am very upset to see isn't on this list at all, so now I'm in a bad mood).
Boring ennit. Too many vocals audio sample intros for no reason. Found the whole thing quite forgettable. Occasionally a good guitar solo. Total dad band.
This was pretty good. I like this era of music a lot but some of it wasn't as good as the opener.
I feel like this is what uneducated people think Bruce Springsteen is, just an American bloke with a guitar singing about big trucks and shit. It was all a bit hollow. HOWEVER, the only good track was the live cover of State Trooper which is a Springsteen song.
Liked this a lot. Great guitar, some powerful lyrics, good sound. A K-Town Banger in my opinion.
Just fantastic. What a voice, what a notion, what a sound.
Good job it wasn't the Trans UK Express or it would have been overpriced, delayed, busy and the toilets would have been horrible. AMIRIGHT?
No. I did not like that. Occassionally I thought 'oh this bits okay' and it just wasn't again.
Great stuff. There was a couple of times where it went on a bit but it was a banger.
I'm not actually a huge Strokes fan. I wouldn't really choose to listen to them but this is a seminal album and has so many bangers
I used to think Eruption was the greatest two minutes of music ever. I was not correct. But it is pretty cool. Overall album is fine, I'm sure it was very impressive and progressive at the time for rock music but hard to differentiate that in your mind in 2021.
I really liked this. At first I thought it was a bit nothingy, but as it went on I really warmed to it. Good lyrics, some good musical choices.
This album is perfection, it really gets me going, I love it. There isn't a bad song, all bangerz. Great guitar, such a great voice, I love the simplicity of the lyrics, it's not poetry but it's amazing fun. ACDC? More like AC-Inredible-DC.
A lot of people love Mr Stevens but I don't really get it. There's a couple of good songs and ideas here but generally I'm not fussed. Also I really hate the long song names thing, literally just done for the sake of it and to make people think they are witty and talk about the long songs names like I am now.
This was great fun. What sass.
Thank god that was short, I couldn't handle much more. Occasionally that was a good bit but then it would be overthrown by someone who fell on the piano or pushed over a bass.
Never been sure about Elvis Costello. His voice gets on my nerves. This wasn't a bad album and had some good bits but just didn't get me going.
Not a bad album at all but a little forgettable. Instantly recognised the first song from School of Rock but the rest was fairly similar. Also sounded like they were trying to be the Velvet Underground
It's just not good is it? It all sounds like joke music but knowing that it isn't makes it very hard to listen to
Trying to separate the art from the artist this really is a banger
Nothing specially, sounds like McCartney on a musical conveyor belt.
Not bad, much more palatable jazz than some of the others we've had
I just do not like it. Sometimes I can get on board with heavy metal like this but just not this time
This really is one of the greatest albums ever written. I just can't get enough of it. Every song is perfectly crafted. Asylum is such a great song, the build up and progression of madness is sublime. Bloody Well Right is a banger to bang all the bangers. The rest are just plain excellent.
not really my kind of thing but it was fine background music for working!
Love this. I've listened to David Crosby a lot through Crosby, Still, Nash and Young but never really listened to just him. Was exactly what I expected which is good.
Yeah pretty good. I generally like the sound but not a band I listen to a lot
Great album. I really like Cornershop. Often seen as a one hit wonder but they have such an individual sound and still bashing out great albums today
Pretty good. Has some bangers in there but too long
A very good album. It really is 'raw power'. I guess that's where they got the name from.
Here we go again. More slappin' the bass and quickly saying 'hoot, hee, hat, badababa heet har' then doing some slow singing then slappin' the bass again. Guess it's okay though.
This was fine. Quite enjoyed it. I don't know the band and didn't recognise any of the songs but it sounds like a lot of other stuff from that time/genre
Thanks s was excellent fun. It was mostly covers though. But still, can't deny it.
Not a bad album and a good sound but not a huge fan, which is strange because on paper it's right up my street.
I really do love the Smiths. I find them very nostalgic for my teenage years. This is a great album with some bangers. Only lost a star because Morrissey is a c*nt.
This is my favourite PJ Harvey album, it's ruddy good stuff.
You can't deny it's a disco classic. You can boogie, you can sing, it gets ya bopping and I won't hear another word about it.
Well what can I say? It's a masterpiece. I think this album is the perfect all round Bruce album which I'd suggest to anyone who doesn't know him. Thunder Road is the quintessential Bruce song in my opinion, if you don't get that song, you just don't get Bruce. I've heard that song countless times but I still find it completely mesmerising. I'll prattling on, FIVE STARS
Wow that was quite the slog. Not usually my kind of thing but I was able to appreciate how good it is and it's always nice hearing a live show and people having a jolly good time.
I've never managed to get into the Fall. It's not that I don't like, I just don't see what the fuss is about. Mostly sounded the same to me. Also, Mark E. Smith seemed like a twat and was really horrible to Adam and Joe when he was on the Adam and Joe Show.
Beyoncé isn't someone I would normally listen to. People bang on about her like she's the most amazing person. Nevertheless I have no complaints about this album, tis a fine album.
I quite the Beastie Boys but I don't often choose to listen to them. However, this album was really enjoyable, really varied
Hard to know what to say about the Beatles. I've never really been a massive Beatles fan, I like them as much as the next person but you just can't deny how good they are really.
This is a fantastic album. When I saw it I wondered whether my love of it was just nostalgia for the time but it is genuinely a great album. I remember when it came out it felt so cool and different to a lot of other stuff and the whole aesthetic of it felt so fresh.
Wonderful stuff. I remember watching Ms. Jackson on a music channel just before school one day and thinking it was excellent. I haven't actually listened to it properly for a long long time so it's nice to know it is a very good song.
Pretty meh, just a voice and some guitars really, all sounded the same, not necessarily bad but not excellent.
Same review as the last Smiths album: I really do love the Smiths. I find them very nostalgic for my teenage years. This is a great album with some bangers. Only lost a star because Morrissey is a c*nt.
I have just never been able to get into Prince. I just don't get it. I know he was an incredible guitarist but I just don't like the music except for his top bangers. Feel like I'm really missing something but I've tried a few times and never got it.
I would never normally listen to this but it was exactly what I needed today. Weirdly it really helped me concentrate on work.
I'm fairly neutral about this one. It was fine but nothing amazing.
Just such an excellent album. Imagine this being your bands debut album, nuts. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You is one of my favourite Led Zeppelin songs. This album is chock crammed full of the bangerzest of the bangerz.
Really enjoyed this one! I've not really listened to Mr Eno, I only really know him from his collaboration with Bowie but I really liked this so I'll definitely dive deeper in the eno-verse.
White Stripes are such a sound. The vocals, guitar and drums are all so recognisable as the White Stripes . I ruddy love it. Jack White is one of the best guitarists.
Not bad. I find it quite hard to rate rap/hip-hop albums because they take a lot of attention to really get the lyrics and meaning of it all and I can't always commit that so just have to go off a felling.
The bangers are bangers that's for sure. But there's some crap on here too. I very much like Damon Albarn but I have never forgiven Blur as a whole for bullying Nardwuar in his interview with them in 2003. They stole his hat.
This was lovely. but I was a bit sick of the girl from Ipanema by the end
I remember thinking I was the koolest bees knees when I found this album at home when I was like 13/14 and was super cool for liking it. I guess I was.
I enjoyed this. I'd never heard of it before and it's pretty up my street. Can't complain!
This was excellent, loved it. Like a cross between Dead Kennedys and the Ramones. Definitely a keeper!
I like Iggy Pop. This is good stuff. In fact I prefer his version of China Girl to Bowie's.
Just an excellent album. Not sure what else to say. I remember my dad playing me Gallows Pole on guitar when I was a small child, a bit of a weird sing when you think of lyrics but hey. Interesting fact, the original record cover had a wheel on the side that you could turn and make the image change through the little holes.
Great stuff. Raw, powerful, Hives. Always been a bit of a throw away 00s band for me but actually are really good.
Bit of fun ennit. Bit much in places but all good
Was this just a coincidence that we got this one around Christmas? You can't really say no to it, it's got all the big hitters, but I was a bit annoyed cause I was listening to it in January.
I loved this. Perfect music to work to in my opinion. Listened to it twice.
This was a banger, such a good sound. I love the addition of guitar sounds to the classic hip hop beats
Mostly 80s nonsense but not bad I suppose. All sounded the same to me but good fun I guess. Can't deny Come On Eileen is excellent
I really liked this album. I love modern, female, country, Americana and this was great. Occasionally a few duff areas but generally very good.
Pretty good, I do really like Steely Dan but sometimes feels a bit samey
I was not really looking forward to this album but it really surprised me! Great beats, the rapping was really clear so you I could understand what he was saying. And that's the most grandpa thing I've ever said.
Fairly enjoyable, nice background music, calming and whatnot.
Finally a Bowie! Definitely one of the best Bowie's at his peak. Apart from the obvious hits also has The Bewley Brothers, Kooks and Queen Bitch on it which are all excellent.
Two Bowies in a row! One of my favourite Bowie albums as well. I love everything that led to this album, a big change of pace towards soul following the Diamond Dogs era. There's a great documentary about backing singers called 20 Feet from Stardom which has a bit about Bowie's performance of Young Americans on the Dick Cavett show and how he worked with the backing singers so much in the writing process through the whole album. And he looked beautiful and had those huge shoulder pads. One of my favourite live videos. Magnificent.
This album is a masterpiece in my opinion. I ruddy love it. It gives me a very specific feeling when I listen to it and I feel like I have this exact picture of the whole album as a concept. Might be a load of rubbish though. Sprawl II is my favourite Arcade Fire song.
Not bad at all, had some catchy beats and sounds but a little bit long and samey for my liking but would be happy to hear again.
I don't think I hated this as much as others in the group but I can completely see why. I guess I was able to just enjoy it as face value but it's nothing special, especially from Neil Young.
This was BORING. I think this is just Paul Weller needing to pop out another album so his dad fans don't forget about it. It had some nice guitar bits in places but they were very isolated and the whole sound of the album was dull as dishwater.
An excellent album. I think Taylor Swift is an excellent song writer and I'm really enjoying this new phase of music, for me it shows a that she is a very good musician. However, this album just isn't as good as Folklore so I'm very surprised that it's on here and Folklore doesn't seem to be.
Yeah it's undeniably good but it's not my favourite Beatles album. It's got some bangers for sure. But I must say, I don't like Yellow Submarine, I just don't think it's a good song.
Yeah, good ol' Neil Young. I didn't realise this came out in 1992! I've always thought of it as a classic 70s Neil Young album but I guess anything that was realised before we were born is just an album from 'before times', weird.
Eugh this was just too much. So flipping long and every track had like 5 crappy solos. It felt like what teenagers want to do when they start a band, just piss around a lot for ages. It was excessive.
Very enjoyable. Good quality metal where it all feels very considered, not just metal for metal sake.
A magnificent piece of work. Such a good sound but still very varied. What a talent.
I do really like the Cure. I thoroughly enjoy the whole thing but I don't really know what any of the songs are about and it does mostly sound the same, but sounds good the same.
I absolutely adore Talking Heads and David Byrne in general. They are so creative and different and such an excellent sound in everything they do. I'm currently reading David Byrne's book How Music Works which is great and he outlook on what music is and 'how it works' is great. This album really shows so many different aspects of what makes great music great. Also I think Tina Weymouth is the best bassist I know of, Talking Heads basslines are so so good and a big fat middle finger up to people who think bass is just a necessary but boring thing, the bass in Talking Heads is so integral to their sound.
I'm sorry I just can't seem to get on board with Elbow, they are really dull to one. One Day Like This is a banger for sure but I don't like the rest. The Fix was grating.
I didn't hate it but I just find the whole thing a bit naff. Mr Blue Sky is a banger but the rest is naff naff naff.
Like I said, just makes me think of nude hippie folk dancing round a stone circle in prep for an orgy. Good stuff!
Bloody love the Pogues, such a great band. I has such nostalgia for this album, my parents playing it a lot when I was young.
Wonderful, just wonderful. I love the Ramones, such a sound and such nostalgia for me. The sound of the Ramones just throws me back to listening to them when I was 13/14. They epitomise so much of the music I love, so much of it can be traced to the Ramones.
Really enjoyed this album. I don't really know Stereolab very well at all but this was a very pleasant surprise
Sound of our generation ennit. What an excellent album, not a bad track on it. Such a sound and just holds a perfect memory in space and time for me. Shame they got shit.
Eminem. I really loved Eminem as a teenager, the Eminem Show is absolute genius. This album shows him on the way to that and it is a fantastic album but I think his style got cleverer with subsequent albums. This album is in places difficult to listen to but I do get the reasoning behind it all and I think it's very good. The political edge of Slim Shady is very interesting and this album seems to be wholly about Eminem attracting mainstream attention at being a white man rapping when his black contemporaries had been doing the same thing for ages sparks very true and is evident in the fact I loved Eminem and he made it so big in the UK when no one I knew of was listening to Dr Dre or anything similar.
I just find them boring. I think his voice is too ingrained in my brain as boring and full and there's nothing anyone can do about it unfortunately
I'm not a massive Kraftwerk fan but this is undoubtedly a vibe and as I think we've said before on here they were clearly very influential on a lot of music, I guess I just wouldn't ever choose to listen to them
This had some good beats and was a kool vibe but can't say it was particularly memorable. Probably wouldn't seek it out to listen to again but definitely enjoyed it.
This was pretty blah. Kind of sounded like a very good AI was asked to make non-offensive rock music
This was pretty good and had some classic Beck tracks on it but overall wasn't as good as other Beck albums
It's bopping, it's hopping, it's KTOWN BANGIN' Got some real classic songs on there baby
I like the Grateful Dead and know they are a legendary band but just didn't quite click with this album like I have with others of theirs and I don't really know why. Maybe just not in the mood for it!
Excellent, what a thing that happened, wonderful stuff.
This is a banger of a live album. As I think I said with Motörhead before, I wouldn't usually listen to them but I'm happy when I do.
A pretty legendary band for all the people involved and the careers it started. It's amazing to hear so many sounds that can be applied to other later bands all coming through at once.
This was a complete banger! Took me by surprise. I've liked Janelle Monáe before but not done a deep dive on her older albums but this was outstanding. It was so diverse in sounds but still all felt very together as an album. Loved it
I didn't mind this album at all but I don't think it was that good. Kind of sounded like a lot of things I like but just not good enough, a bit like the Offspring, Sum41, Green Day etc but kind of missing something which I can't put my finger on. But I did enjoy it.
Bit of a surprise, I didn't know what to expected but really enjoyed it
Pretty classics sounds with a few bangers. I felt quite nostalgic for this album but to be honest, giving it a fresh listen I didn't love it as much I thought I would but it does undoubtedly have some bangers on it
I had to do a presentation on Suede in GCSE music. I remember not really liking them then and I still don't. It's not terrible it's just not great. Like a less good Smiths.
What a load of shit. In the same way WWE is just a soap opera for hard men, this just consumer pop music for scary hard people
Not bad. Not as good as the other Stevie Wonder albums we've had though
I'd never really listened to the Stone Roses before, I always knew the name and the album cover but when it came up I realised I didn't know it. Probably for the best because I found it completely naff dad music, so boring and wet.
Great fun! I wanted to be there jigging away. I liked the bit where he basically said 'if your wife is annoying you don't go hitting her, go home, wake her up and give her a kiss'
I kind of get it. At times I like their style, it's very iconic and individual unlike some of the other heavy metal albums we've had, I just don't particularly like it in my ears.
I just found this a bit dull, nothing much going on. Sometimes I like that really simple, stripped back rock ballad stuff but usually it has to come as a one off amongst so really good stuff and this didn't have enough good stuff.
Fairly dull. Felt like more AI generated rock but this time from the early 2000s. Occasionally I found myself liking a short part of it but then got bored again.
A very excellent album. This is a very nostalgic album for me. I specifically remember singing Seven Nation Army on the way back from scouts in my friend's dad's land rover. Also I reckon it was the first song I learnt on bass... The whole album is great, such an excellent sound. I love Ball and a Biscuit, that guitar is PENG!
Quite enjoyed it but it did feel a bit repetitive. I really like Rod Stewart's voice.
Pretty good stuff. Got some good classics on it but I'm not in love with it
Wasn't sure at first, didn't sound like anything special but I was enjoying it by the end, got some funky fresh sounds. LL Cool Jay did a rap with Elmo on Sesame Street once.
I love it. Gang of Four are great. I don't really listen to them by choice a lot but they are so deep rooted in my favourite genres that Spotify plays them to me all the time and I'm always happy with that.
I did enjoy this and it had some Neil Young songs that I really like on it but as we've said before I think he gets carried away in his live shows and goes over the top on what he thinks the people want
Great blues stuff straight to the soul. Started as a 3 but rose to a 3.5 and settled at a 4.
Seemed completely up my street at first but I didn't find it particularly memorable, not bad though
WHAT AN ALBUM. It's a masterpiece. It holds such a place in my heart and I think it's such a great audio-time capsule of that time in musical culture. I remember when it came out I absolutely loved it but as the album got massive success there was a bit of a rejection of it for people who liked Green Day before this album and I think I then started to not like it as much. I then went and owned every single Green Album up to this one and they really are a phenomenal band in my opinion. Looking back at American Idiot as an adult all this time later I still think it's a brilliantly written album. Jesus of Suburbia is excellently put together and hearing something of that scale in this genre was mind-blowing for me, kind of still is.
An excellent album, a very nice departure from her classic folk sound but still retaining her style very well.
I can see how this is great and everything but I just didn't love it.
This occasionally had elements I really liked, some good punk bits and actually good rock bits but the overall sound was very forgettable and soulless. Not terrible but nothing special.
It's fabulous, but it's not the best. It's a very nice background album and a very nice sound. The song Tusk is incredible though.
I don' think I've even gone and listened to T.Rex despite them being a major influence in a lot of music I like. But I really enjoyed this album and fun to hear those influences in it.
I appreciate the album but I just didn't find it interesting. And I can't stand 'Let's Call the Whole Thing Off'
I guess I can get on board with this. Not my favourite thing but pleasant enough!
Pretty vacant to me. Just throwing a load of rock stuff at it but without much soul or heart.
One of my top 5 albums of all time for sure. Often overlooked by casuals for Born to Run and Born in the USA. It's such a gut wrenching tale of living in a shit town and wanting to break free from that monotony, and yeah yeah it's about being in the US but I think it can be applied to people the world over in so many situations. These lyrics, I mean coooooome on: "I've done my best to live the right way I get up every morning and go to work each day But your eyes go blind and your blood runs cold Sometimes I feel so weak I just want to explode Explode and tear this whole town apart Take a knife and cut this pain from my heart Find somebody itching for something to start" That's top quality. Prove It All Night is more of a crowd pleasing banger but the live versions are incredible. Then you've got Racing in the Street, such a good song about being bored with your life and just going racing in the street just to give your life some pazzazz. Eugh it's excellent.
Again, a very good album that for some reason I've never listened to before.
Pretty darn dull. I sometimes like country music but this was just a bit shit.
Well it was okay, wasn't offensive or anything but not my cup of macha. Every song sounds like the piano in 'have yourself a merry little Christmas'
Struggling to rate this. It was mad and long and it was long and it was mad. But then again it was very inventive and I know how influential Kraftwerk were at the time and how much they pushed boundaries and explored new tech so I can see how it's a good album in that respect.
Liked this. Never heard of it before. Reckon it would improve on a second listen but yeah it was good
Just found it a bit boring. Everybody Wants to Rule the World is very good but the rest was dull and all blended in together.
I do like Fleet Foxes but I don't love them. A nice recognisable sound but I always get a little bored.
Before seeing the cover of this I assumed it was going to be some mad 80/90s dance rave album. Oh how wrong I was. I did really like it and on the whole it's great fun and would love to go to a proper dance party with it live, however, I also felt I knew exactly what the whole album would be from the first couple of minutes, and I was right!
This was a goodun, proper. Good to hear some Rolling Stones that isn't the classic bangers
Overall I did like this. A lovely sound, very atmospheric for a different time and a different place.
Not really my jam but not bad I guess, had its ups and downs
Elvis is a weird one for me. He obviously has some bangers but I find it hard to listen to him without getting some boring ballady song. For the king of Rock and Roll there isn't enough Rock. But this album was pretty good.
I love this album. I think it's a much more honest Madonna, post her 80s heyday and pre her 'gone a bit mad' era. The production is really good as well. Not all songs are brilliant but overall I do like it a lot
This was okay, had some really nice guitar solos in it but overall it was a bit bland. Some dreary uninspiring lyrics and then a cool guitar solo.
I really love this album and a lot of early Van Morrison. Such a nice sound that you can just relax into, a right banger in my opinion.
Wahoooo! This is mad, I love it. Willie the Pimp was wild. I've heard of Frank Zappa and kind of knew who/what he was but don't think I've ever delved, now I've delved and I am happy about that.
Love it. I really love this sound. I've been reading a book about Riot Grrrl and Kathleen Hanna so I'm quite invested in the genre at the moment. It's such a raw sound and really feels like people just making music for the sake of music with proper political though and force behind it which I don't think you see as much these days because social media gives a simpler avenue for political opinion.
It's goooood stuff. Obviously very long but if you just think of it as two separate albums they are both excellent.
Not much to say except it's a banger, one of Radiohead's best which some tuuuuunes on it
Not bad but just not something I'd normally like to listen to. People love the Divine Comedy but I kind of just don't get it. I don't think it's bad by a long way but just doesn't seem that good.
Fabulous! Loved it. I knew a few of the hits but never listened to a whole album of his, I love the sound, it's great. I know it's treated as a bit of a novelty song but I think Coconut is a really good song.
Quite enjoyed this, felt nice and boppy and fresh. Didn't like the guy's voice much but some of the bass lines were really cool. Can't imagine I'll go back to it but glad I heard it
He's still pretty mopey but this was a lot more rocky than the last one we listened to. I find some of his lyrics too straight up sad boy but I guess he was a very sad boy. Preferred it to the previous one.
I like Happy Mondays generally and appreciate them but can't say I often listen to them. This was fine but didn't think it was anything special.
Kind of found this a bit dull but not bad, just a bit vacant really.
I love this album. I remember when I first heard it as a teenager and it blew my mind because it just sounded so different to everything else. Bjork's voice mixed with the big bad but slightly muted beats just sounds so good. LOVE IT. Human Behaviour and There's More to Life Than This are standouts.
Loved it! Obviously knew the first song but I didn't know anything else. I really enjoyed the stripped back acoustic punk style. Definitely a keeper!
