I like this album a lot! 4 or 5 stars.
2 stars? I didn't have to stop it but I also got little pleasure from it.
Gritting my teeth with this one. Maybe in a lower stress time this would be alright, but eh
good and kinda like a male kimya dawson. I don't think I'd return to this particular album though.
thunka thunka thunka. Not the worst to listen to at work but kinda meh.
Very entertaining. 4 stars, minus 1 just for being a little melancholy, but oh what music they make.
Awful album. like dad rock and blues had a baby. I respect his skill, it's just not mine.
I hate this album. 1 or 2 stars. All noise, no payoff.
Jam. not a lot of words, which is nice, and good vocal variety (flute, etc). Not really what I reach for first, but it's growing on me. Damn, they had to end with a flute song. +1 star for that.
i like it! 3ish. Usually my jam but EOD I've heard them often.
Unable to access. 2s. Im sure its better if i could hear it.
They walked so the longest johns could run. I don't hate this. Baseline of 4 stars easy.
This is a definite 5 star album. It's like, top 5 albums for me. Great pick, 1001 Albums!
Really solid album! 4 bumped to a 5 because I did a relisten! definitely catchy music overall.
early read, 3. Not unpleasant, but the kinda 80s music I would never have tolerated before 1001 albs.
ok this is catchy. I have to give it a 5 cause i listened to it twice. maybe a 3rd.
tolerable, but dull. Not a relisten for me.
entirely forgettable but has nice hooks.
Dang near unlistenable. 1 or 2 depending on how my day goes.
Earnest to a fault. A little too much so, but has moments where it reminds me of bjork or enjya. Not bad.
Ultimate dad rock. 1 star pretty unlistenable.
+1 for being family. Not craving, but like a less catchy
i dont remember this tbh.
4? a classic, and one im voluntarily listening to twice. At its best moments it sounds like its peer the decemberists, but IDK if it has had quite the emotional reaction from me as them.
Too cool coming right after the other album with the high pitched guy. His sound is much more approachable, and I gave the other guy 4 so I expect at least a 4 here.
Actually htis is an album about death and I found it incredibly distressing. Woof, I might still give it a 4 but I won't give it a relisten.
3. What kinda nickleback BS is this.
FIne? No recall at all. Like early REM.
Hello, autotune. Bananas, no bangers i remember but surprisingly weird and fun.
its good. catchy but fun. 3. Not rated higher bc too many words for work.
i didnt like this album but i don remember how i rated it so 2.
This album is weird a.f. I dont mind it. Kinda remind me if I had a band and, well, actual musical talent, and a complete obliviousness for my lack of ability to sing.
all braggadocio and bluster but at least not afaict homophobic? 2-3 s?
Like a latin language green day with eerily disturbing cover art. 3.
I've heard this one before! weird flashback of music. Catchy as hell. Predicting a 4. I'm enjoying it more than I expected, especially since their lead singer died.
who knows what nu metal is about. it's not bad... now anyway.
just alright. 2 tool albums in a row. I think I liked the first one better. 2 or 3 stars. definitely not bad to have on in the background at work.
I've definitely heard this one before. at least 4 stars, 5 if its not overplayed for me.
not especially craveable, but tori played so so many other artists I love can jam.
I really like this album! very listenable.
what kind of white nonsense is this?
I'd enjoy this better if it didn't sound like it was slowed down to 65% speed.
Dreamy, surrealist drowned cats.
i like it! set me up for an afternoon of jazz. exemplary example of the form
i dont love this band, to the degree I was going to stop it midway through with a 1. The fem power aspect of me encouraged me to push through it, but it's not my taste in music especially
Seems like it's going to rock. Rock for me though? Who can tell with one hit wonders and 70s music.
pretty decent, but not as moving as it was when i was 13. Funny how life works that way. 3 or 4.
danny elfman is in it! wild.
a slog 2s. but hey at least nightmare before christmas was a thing.
rap! i dont hate it.
Like a really punchy rap debut. Not bad, but not necessarily clicked for me. 3.
A very talented rap virtuoso, but I don't think aurally the tunes worked for me as well as otherwise.
+1 cause i listened to it again. It's a neat experimental album.
#1 in the world, wow.
So much autotune though.
sounds like another elvis costello sound alike from the first few bars.
I skipped the end of the song. 2 stars is generous but I'm grateful today.
Very chill and very fun! good listen. 4 stars for me. Gotta love the Chi girlies.
True 1 star for me. I made it through half of one song before deciding it had to go.
Acceptable neo-hipster nonsense. Catchy but fluffy.
Uh oh. Three vivid screams right up front. not really my vibe. 1
Weirdly, it got better. I'll bump it to 3 for being well outside my comfort zone, but also cool.
For me this is 1 star album. I'm sure they invite folk and rock into their music but for me, this isn't necessarily working as a genre of music.
Pretty good. dreamy. IDK if i even finished it but it all kinda sounds the same, so sure.
Sassy n'fun. It is an album that grew on me over multiple days.
The last track is literally the author grunting and groaning for several minutes. It's weird music, but sometimes I guess that's what early punk feels like. 3 stars from me.
that one catchy song (gimmie sympathy). still, a band i'd listen to again.
better than i thought it would be. I like the idea of frosting.
Popular hit song. 3? but im listening to the live version so if i end up listening to the full album on spotify idk.
ok i listened to it 2x fun
4 stars for anything with a violin.
vom. 99% chance of 1.
it wasnt as bad as all hat but I'm still not really here for it.
like Billy Joel and Elton John had a baby. And he was straight. its decent. 3. (Specifically with regards to STUCK BETWEEN STATIONS and the entire album really).
half a point bc i ended up listening to other music like it all morning, which wasn't the worst attempt.
so so so sad. I don't enjoy listening to this, but some do apparently. 2
Like the band "Air" if it had some more modern songs. It might rate higher than a 3, but I think 3 is all i have in me to rate today.
A very solid, mindbending (mouthbending?) 4. Like the best of mixes except crazier.
something very kenny g about this rnb. no shade, just rubbing weird against my anxiety today.
good, chill energy, 3-4 stars. a litle too sad to listen too daily, but a fun listen.
Alright. very earnest and winsome. I love werewolf of london, but can only take this singer in small doses.
Decent jam! I forgot how little TMBG there's been on this list. Feels like a very random pick. I would think they would have picked FLOOD their 1990 album with birdhouse, istanbul, etc.
3 or 4, if only because I never made the connection between Decemberists and Cake and TMBG kinda being at the intersection of each of them.
dull. not unlistenable, but not my jam. 2*.
like a more emo green day for 2024. 2 * for being a slog.
I wanted to like this more than I did. I will admit to not being entirely sure what I thought of it, as I listened Friday and then the weekend happened. but I'd rate it a 3 generously, probably a 2.
gosh, i love this album so far. Cello is a immediate 5 * sound for me.
His other albums are like, 3-4 range but this one is great! Thank you to whatever user that suggested this!
3 stars, except for butterfly which is a gutpunch of an ending vulnerability binge. Not a bad way to listen. Still, 3 stars in my ill-informed opinion.
Im not so much a fan. Even if those are marina towers? But they're actually the westin seattle
the one song available online means I don't have to listen to the whole album, so that's good news. 2 or 3 otherwise.
Not a bad jam bad and really easy to listen, but also where are they now??
power-pop. let's try it.
relentlessly positive! like to the point of being saccharine.
3, but it might be too mean.
Thusfar looks like an eyeball and sounds like a car backfiring.
Points for being catchy. i was a little harsh for that first half-song.
Was not to my taste listening to old movie soundtracks, but whatever floats your boat, buds.
Like a sleepy, honeyed version of nyquil. Not a bad, relaxing album when I'm stressed, but a little dull and mushy when I want to feel things.
fun listen! i felt very millenial in a awkward way though.
i dig this album! like a 4. reminds me of a bluesier weepies.
He's dad rock extreme and I admire him for it.
fun! very west coast rap. Not bad listen.
I think I feel nostalgically about this album. it's been too long though.
Ooof. speaking of nostalgic albums, this is one I listened the S*** out of back in the day.
i woudlnt say its especially relevant to my life now, but man does this album make me feel like a woman. 4 stars!
it's got swag. kinda punk meets blues sax? pretty wild, im not sure I like it? But I respect it. fun and sassy. 3?
very dad rock, but catchy. 3.
Tolerable, but wish it had been half as long of an album. It's just a lot to get through. 3.
Pretty good! I don't love this album specifically, but I like the idea of it and I gotta support my hom(o)ies.
This is so 80's. I'm less averse than I used to be, but I'd still rather hear paint dry. 2.
I love Damien Rice I think. Blower's daughter might be overplayed, but I'm really curious about the other ones.
Gosh this album is sad. Still a 4 for the pleasure it gave me back in the day.
Memorably, one of the duo looks uncannily like Stan Lee. Expecting another bland, homogeneous 80's hit. 3.
I'll bump it to 4. It's a great work listen, relatively few words and very musically forgettable. That damn "coke" sound effect that you hear everywhere came from here! Go figure.
easy listen! 5, unless I hit a mood.
Dad rock, but not terrible. Like a hug from some stranger's dad. Still good, but definitely not your own.
fun album. IDK if I'm cool enough to appreciate it though. it doesnt speak to me directly, 3 stars.
I've forgotten everything about this album, but I do remember it sounding epic and being relatively innocuous. So.... 3?
tedious and distracting to listen to at work. Saved from 1 star bc this Boards of Canada album has beware the friendly stranger, a really cool song I've used in LARPing. IDK what else though.
smooth jazz punk rock. nothing else like it AFAICT, if only i actually liked it.
I dont. dig this. 2 stars is generous.
A classic and also not one that represents my particular cultural heritage.
has some gems with Celtic music and some duds with techno-pop, for my taste.
Fun! four stars. Not really re-listenable, but I liked what I heard.
decent jazzy rock album. dad rock, but fun and not too ego maniacal like the hair bands.
I like this album. Some really pretty melodies.
Immediate 5. What an easy toss-up of an assignment.
