Playing With Fire
Spacemen 3I like listening to music. One of the reasons I like it is because musicans can do something I cannot. The exception is this album. I'm quite sure I could do this.

Selling Americana to the Americans is never easy. This does it superbly.
More an ep with some b sides than an album. Hard to know if songs are fully formed, or did they just record it and if lightning struck they caught it, and if not they still commanded it to tape.
Honest, raw and polished in equal measure. A good listen.

As pretty as a dandelion blown by the wind on a sunny spring morning
A fantastic album. Can always return to it.
As a statement of intent, it doesn't get any better than this.
Tricky 3 or 4 Good album on the whole. Flows really well. One tree hill is a stand out track.
Pleasant to listen to. Unlikely to return to it.
Honest, raw and polished in equal measure. A good listen.
Enjoyed it, but can scarcely remember it.
Depth and glorious sound. Could wish for less on unrequited love. The lyrics at times let down the talent of the vocals.

Layered with sweet and sour sounds. The re release I listened to on Spotify included some non original tracks, which while excellent don't help the flow.
The verse and musicianship are great.
Great tunes and still sounds fresh
Bit samey, but decent background tunes. They have better albums.
Songs mean a lot, when songs are bought; and so are you.
Strange, but it works.
Not much of a giant leap.
Interesting. Don't know if it was groundbreaking. Quite eclectic.
Incredible R&B energy and sound. These guys really were mugged off from their own music.
No thanks.
Like pouring a fine aged brandy into a small, new glass.
Funkier than a mosquito's tweeter. He has better albums though.
Fun but doesn't progress anything.
Not generally a fan of shout singing. It's very heavy if that's your thing. Drumming is interested though.
A nice pop album that wanders a bit during its near one hour runtime.
Great fun to listen to.
Better than I remembered it.
Good fun drum and bass. Long run time. Consequently, a little repetitive by the second CD.
Interesting songs and pleasant vocals. Unlikely to revisit this album though.
Enjoyable. Not as fun as I remembered.
Rather forgettable.
Can't fault their energy. Not sure of it's significance.
Production is good. Unlikely to revisit.
Some funky licks aside, I don't understand the appeal of this album.
Pleasant enough background music. Disagree on a must listen.
Meandering. Not in a good way.
Not what I was expecting. Enjoyed it.
A great mix of tunes and songs
Never heard of them. Inclined to listen more.
Was surprised by this. Last couple of tracks were more what I expected.
Some good sounds. Unlikely to revisit.
First van halen album I've listen to. Great stuff.
Don't understand why it's so well received. Maybe it's an American thing.
Brilliant pop album, all the more impressive for a debut.
Good songs, though they tend to overdo the theatrics.
Interesting. Unlikely to revisit.
Not a fan of his voice
If less is more, just think how much more, more will be...
Can't remember much from Friday
Pretty good
Good voice
A few good tunes in there
Always got timeon for Paul Simon.
Always have time for this album
Didn't grab me
Fine if unlikely to return
An album I can always come back to.
Better than expected
Good fun
Easy listening
Some excellent songs in there
Really enjoyable
Great fun
Good tunes
Good and bad in equal measure
Didn't chime with me.
New to this chap but seem to know quite a few tracks on the album. A pleasant enough hour spent.
One to revisit.
An impressive pop album
No idea if this album is of significance. Not heard of them. Not inclined to go any further.
Pretty decent.
Enjoyable if a little meandering towards the end.
Nice variety and made me want to listen to more.
Good tunes and enjoyable. Will check out his other stuff.
My expectations for this we're not very high. However I enjoyed it more than not. Some really nice guitar sounds in there.
Disappointing. Just made me want to listen to actual rythme and blues from the time
Will always relish a chance to listen again to this.
Decent background funk
Not a classic by any stretch. Would still rather listen to 45 minute of this, than not.
Big beats and guitars. What a recipe.
Tremendous. Really enjoyed listening to this.
Fine in places but I struggle in others. Fine album but unlikely to listen in a sitting.
A pleasant album. Some tracks show how less can be more.
They're not the Messiah, they're 'noughty' boys ;)
With all due respect, Mr. Taylor, this isn't the best time for your unique brand of bittersweet folk rock. We have a potentially critical situation here. I'm sure you'll understand.
I'm sure this is great but it wasn't working for me when I tried to listen.
For all it's knocks and calls of selling out, it's was a good album of its time. Feels a bit lifted in hindsight.
I like listening to music. One of the reasons I like it is because musicans can do something I cannot. The exception is this album. I'm quite sure I could do this.
Some nice tunes and singing. Unlikely to revisit.
I liked this when it first came out. Even bought it. Nice tunes and some interesting lyrics. Just not enough to make me want a repeat listen.
Tasty slice of pop pie
Forgot how good an album this is
What a debut. Incredible energy and sound.
Street struggling to remember it from Friday...
An astonishing album to this day.
Fun rock n roll, chaps voice gets irritating on occasion
Interesting album. Never heard of them. Unlikely to revisit but fun nonetheless.
Brilliant sound, enjoyed coming back to this.
Undoubtedly important, though they have more enjoyable albums imho.
Fun guitar and odd singing, but it works. A band I'd never listened to, so it was nice to hear their debut as an introduction.
I'm hardly consistent in my scoring, but I really enjoyed this album
Interesting to hear this, and it feels like it influenced bands and a sound. As an album it's too long and pointless.
Have probably listened to this more than thier studio albums over the years. It's a nice record and it has the feel of the band enjoying themselves. A few standout cover tracks are the highlight for me.
I might need to listen again to understand the specific appeal. Perhaps you had to be there.
Zero reference of this, but it sounds great.
