System Of A Down
System Of A DownBlows your head off and then shits down your neck. No punches pulled is an understatement

Funky soulful jazzy. Not what I would have expected from Paul Welker but very glad I've discovered it
Loved it. Really raw and melancholic, at times angry, but always with a fun uplifting edge. So glad I've discovered this
Can't believe I've never listened to this all the way through before. It's aged extremely well. It's quite soft edged, but has a lovely texture and layering to it. Obviously some of the songs i have heard 1000 times before becuase they were played to death as part of adverts or on the radio, so they have lost their impact, but "Politik" is a really strong way to start and album, a real statement of intent, and Amsterdam is a perfect way to end it as well. And having only heard the melody for "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" from the Mark Ronson version, it was nice to hear the original, and just bask in its glory.
Not really my cup of tea...
Very different to the stuff they are more famous for. I need to give it a few more listens
Maybe need another go at it, but I've never liked Costello
Loved it. Really raw and melancholic, at times angry, but always with a fun uplifting edge. So glad I've discovered this
Definitely not their best album.
Didn't love it. Very weird, and occasionally enjoyable, but overall, not my thing
Awesome album.
That mind melting opening track is really something magnificent... The whole thing is just awesome. Some real heavy bluesy guitar riffs, mixed in with pure mad cap funk.
Awesome! So funky and jazzy and smooth, and not something I'd normally listen to, but glad I've discovered
Not for me....
Not my thing

Brilliant. Any album with Money for Nothing on it is one for the ages. Your Latest Trick also has that incredibly recognisable sax intro/coda on it by Michael Brecker
Not my thing
Good stuff, but a bit jarring, and not many of the classics on there.
Sounding like an even heavier thrashier Metallica
Can't believe I've never listened to this before. Only ever heard one track before on the Skrek soundtrack. Really cool, dark sound.
Glorious bit of early noughties New York indie rock. Karen O absolutely kills it, and the guitar sounds are very much synonymous of the time.
Funky soulful jazzy. Not what I would have expected from Paul Welker but very glad I've discovered it
Classic 70s but just too depressing for me
Not for me
Punk. It shreds 👌
Enjoyed this. Easy going, bluesy, groovy, dad rock with attitude
Excellent. Supremely funky, subversive, very naughty, and way ahead of its time.
Loving this. Been on a mission to seek out more female rock/country artists, and Lucinda just shot to the top of my list. After a quick Google seems like she's doing some shows with Waxahatchee, which makes perfect sense to be now. Incredible voice, great musicality, perfect for listing to on these hot summer evenings. I'm not a massive country fan, but there's more than enough bluesy toe-tapping, head-nodding, guitar-sliding goodness here to get me on board
Interesting. Ethereal voice, and some incredible sound scapes. Comparable sort of feel to some of Charlotte Gainsborough's stuff
Funky soulful beats, groovy bass, gorgeous jazzy feel. Very easy to get lost in.
Stunning. This was a really pleasant surprise, and exactly the reason I joined this project; to discover masterpieces like this that I otherwise would never have listened to. This young man was so wise, so humble, so angry, so insightful and thoughtful, with a truly incredible voice and take, and the beats are just so soulful. Think that a lot of today's 'rappers' could learn a lot from going back and listening to this again and remembering what they forgot. Absolutely stellar, and perfect summertime listening (listening in June '23). Rest in power, 2Pac.
I mean, it's Californication. Nothing more needs to be said
I was never into Pulp, obviously heard some of their stuff on the radio etc, but I was very pleasantly surprised! Such a unique sound, and lyrics to match.
Another classic that otherwise would have never been on my radar. Absolutely cracking from start to finish, with awesome guitar riffs and licks, killer vocals and bombastic drums.
Obviously a classic, but I just don't think I'll ever be a Springsteen fan
Obviously ground breaking and artful, with a lot of humour and many layers, but I found a lot of the lyrics and imagery simply problematic and not something I really enjoy listening to. I can appreciate some of it, but it's just not my thing.
Listenable. Just not my thing.
The Velvet Underground influence is very clear and plain to see, particularly in the vocals and the guitar styling, but the soundscapes that it creates are heavier and more psychedelic. I really loved it
I mean, it's Thin Lizzy. Phil Lynott is an icon, and Gary Moore is a god
I mean, it's the Beatles...
Loved this! A real treat. Nice lo fi beats mixed with jazzy Latin/Brazilian classical elements. One of the best surprises that this project had thrown up for me recently
