Low by David Bowie

When initially listening to Low, you get the sense of it being very David Bowieesque. It seems to have influence from free form jazz in the way that the instrumentation is arranged. The production definitely is the center of each song, as the lyrics are sometimes drowned out by the repetition of the production. There are long pauses in the spoken word, so this album almost becomes an instrumental album. At just 39 minutes in runtime it is an easy listen, an album you throw on a turntable as background music.

Illmatic by Nas

Greatest Hip/Hop album of all time, not much else to say about it.

Very Blues-grassy, not overwhelming to the ears. Instrumentation is clean, lyrics are clear, has a definite country influence (which isn’t a bad thing).

Fever Ray by Fever Ray
May 13 2021

Although this is classified as an electronic album it is not what i was expecting. There are a lot of synth progressions and the project is definitely production oriented, it doesn’t give off the holistic vibe of an electronic album. It is an album that will take multiple listens in order to pick up on little production cues and the meaning/understanding the lyrics. Overall a decent album, easy to listen to and beautiful production.

Reminds me of the cranberries discography. Some hits, a pretty easy listen.

Emperor Tomato Ketchup by Stereolab
May 31 2021

Reminds me heavily of artists such as Beck, because this album is in the same genre of music. The instrumentation is odd, but nothing too overwhelming. An easy album to sit back and listen to on any given occasion.

Some novelty songs, about the length of a ringtone. Not much to sink your teeth into.

Illmatic by Nas

Pacific Ocean Blue by Dennis Wilson

There’s a lot of interesting ideas goin on within this album, especially within the instrument choices. Some you don’t hear in many albums of the era, makes the listening experience so much better since you keep anticipating what could be next. I strongly recommend listening to this album. Favorite Tracks: River Song, Dreamer, Rainbows.
