Popular Reviews

Great stuff! Really experimental guitar, great vocals. Didn’t quite key into any sort of story, but fantastic overall.

Disintegration by The Cure

A truly amazing album. Melodically interesting, beautiful lyrics. The mic is instrumental and lyrics based songs added for a fantastic range of sounds and vibes. Loved it

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Dec 04 2021

Cohesive stylistically, irreverent at times but it works

The Slider by T. Rex
Dec 05 2021

It was okay. Kinda felt like a bunch of songs full of choruses. Stylistically pretty interesting. Like Bowie but not Bowie and slightly worse and less creative. Didn't blow me away. Average!

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Dec 06 2021
Dec 07 2021

Intimate with shocks of sound that jolt your ear in the best way possible. Dynamics were great. Really well done overall.

Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre
Dec 08 2021

Pretty awesome soundscapes. Definitely someone I imagine Daft Punk would be inspired by. Interesting to think about how he did this with the limited technology of the time. Each part flowed into the next smoothly!

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Dec 09 2021

Classic nostalgia for me, my 14 year old self is headbanging. On a re-listen it's still quite good, but lacking a sense of progression to me. Stylistically cohesive but not necessarily progressing through any movement or dynamic shifts.

Dear Science by TV On The Radio
Dec 10 2021

Was alright! I might like it more on a second listen. The sound I think is a bit dated, but not in a classic way. Maybe it’ll sound better in 2030. This sounds like the transition from MySpace to Facebook.

Solid Air by John Martyn
Dec 11 2021

Really nice. Guitar focused so that immediately grabs my ear. I thought the whole album flowed well and blanketed the ear nicely.

The Sun Rises In The East by Jeru The Damaja
Dec 12 2021

Good beats, thoughtful lyrics. An era I have not explored enough of.

Elephant Mountain by The Youngbloods
Dec 14 2021

Delightful folk rock. So close to a 5 but it’ll have to be a 4

Bert Jansch by Bert Jansch
Dec 15 2021

Some nice songs but a bit disconnected, confusing at times.

Dec 16 2021

Great stuff! Really experimental guitar, great vocals. Didn’t quite key into any sort of story, but fantastic overall.

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
Dec 17 2021

Lots of fun! Pretty interesting, at times a bit grating but I interpret that to be intentional.

Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.
Dec 18 2021

Historically significant but didn't do much for me! Comparing it to Kanye's debut or even Jeru the Damaja's, there's a world of evolution. But gotta respect the ones who did it first. Interesting blend of 80s styles with the shred guitar on some tracks though.

Doolittle by Pixies
Dec 19 2021

Good but not great! Admittedly I was not the most focused while listening.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Dec 20 2021

It was ok. A bit kitschy, but expected.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Dec 21 2021

I never totally got into it stylistically. Fantastic vocal performance of course.

Smile by Brian Wilson
Dec 22 2021
Be by Common
Dec 25 2021
L.A. Woman by The Doors
Dec 28 2021

Good stuff! :D

Sweet Baby James by James Taylor
Dec 29 2021

Easy listening! Smooth guitar, very comfy 60s-70s sound. Feels like it's been in plenty of movies.

Screamadelica by Primal Scream
Dec 30 2021

Interesting! I really liked the more electronic tracks.

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
Dec 31 2021

So fun! Very fresh sound. Interesting chord progressions and rhythm. Great intro into salsa music.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jan 01 2022

Really nice. A classic. Glad I got to hear some deeper bob marley cuts

A Date With The Everly Brothers by The Everly Brothers
Jan 02 2022

Pretty bad. Dated both culturally and sonically. Not sure what value this album brings to the list. To me it’s very clearly made for commercial purposes.

Live! by Fela Kuti
Jan 03 2022

Really an amazing live performance and recording. Loved the crowd interactions and involvement.

Jan 04 2022

Wonderful, amazing vocal ability and impeccable flow. Cohesive through and through. Thoughtful, emotional. Bravo.

In Utero by Nirvana
Jan 08 2022

Just as good as my teenage angst remembers! It gets the nostalgia 5/5

The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
Jan 11 2022

Very nice! Not super dynamic but enjoyable listening.

Disintegration by The Cure
Jan 12 2022

A truly amazing album. Melodically interesting, beautiful lyrics. The mic is instrumental and lyrics based songs added for a fantastic range of sounds and vibes. Loved it

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Jan 13 2022

Wonderful. Beautiful voice and piano. 4 women really stuck out to me lyrically

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy
Jan 14 2022

Pretty meh. Couple songs were enjoyable but just wasn’t in the mood for something like this. Maybe if it were 1999 at a warehouse rave.

Van Halen by Van Halen
Jan 15 2022

This song is hits front to back! Felt like I’d heard them all before. Unfortunately as an album it didn’t mesh super well for me

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Jan 16 2022

Went hard, but not extremely enjoyable. Cohesive for sure, vocals were a bit grating at times.

Arise by Sepultura
Jan 17 2022

Well done but a bit fatiguing. Cool to hear the roots of a what is a very familiar sound

Microshift by Hookworms
Jan 19 2022

Pretty damn good! Atmospheric, the connections between songs was well thought out.

Gris Gris by Dr. John
Jan 20 2022

Very novel sounds! Would be a 3 but it was just so damn interesting

One World by John Martyn
Jan 23 2022

I liked the first album we heard from him more

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Jan 24 2022

I love his style, I’m a sucker for guitar, voice is very smooth. Perfectly executed. If this isn’t a 5 for me, I don’t know what is.

I enjoyed it more than I expected!

Real nice :)

Jul 05 2022

Never heard of this band but apparently they’re big! Pretty good album, no big complaints besides I guess the bias towards the sort of crooning male singer that this list has.

Pretty interesting. I think I will like it more and more

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Jul 11 2022
