Scream, Dracula, Scream
Rocket From The CryptJust lacks character. I don’t like this era of rock at all. Sounds like a garage jam band that wants to be edgy. Tried to find a redeeming song but couldn’t.

All instrumental. A lot of tunes are extremely recognizable based on their usage in movies or remixes of other songs. Overall boring album though.
Surprised I have never heard of her. Really amazing psychedelic rock/pop/alternative. Gives me tame impala vibes. Very well put together album with no fat. Every song fits the theme. Hypnotic vocals that sound like she is in a glass bottle, trance instrumentals, haunting features.
Just one look at the album cover and the band name makes me cringe and not want to listen. Wow that band name is cringe. I can’t even tell if she is speaking English in a lot of the songs. Awful.
Not bad, just not my type. Riot van and marry bum are my favorites - two slower songs. I can understand it’s popularity in indie/alternative UK scene. Mix of indie/punk sound. To me, not enough intricacy in the instruments, but overall it’s a very cohesive album.
Knew this album already. Solid dream pop as always from beach house. Paved the way for bloom and depression cherry-my two favorite beach house albums. Very calculated and nostalgic.
End of 60s album. One of the crowning Rolling Stones achievements and fitting for the era of liberation. Definitely most recognized for gimme shelter, often used as a war time (Vietnam war), chaos induced track, but the overall feeling of the album is positive, upbeat and reassuring.
Crooning, deep voice from Morissey. Lack of melody or true flow along with the unique voice and interesting lyrics gives a certain allure to the album. I know it’s over is one of the most sad and beautiful songs I know of. Not a huge fan of the rest of the album but giving 3 stars because of that song.
Undoubtedly inspirational and paved the way for new wave psychedelic rock. Every song is a listen.
Not my type of music. Wild is the wind is a nice tune. Funny to read that Bowie was heavily addicted to cocaine during production and remembers none of the recording. You can somewhat tell from the album from fast paced, to long droning songs with repetitive sound to consistent backing tracks.
All instrumental. A lot of tunes are extremely recognizable based on their usage in movies or remixes of other songs. Overall boring album though.
Great album to listen to if you want to hate yourself. “Rooster” and “Would?” are my two favorites.
I tried but I could literally not get through this one. So painful to listen to. The excessive drum solo in the mule is where I called it quits.
Super funky! Hard not to groove to this one. Definitely don’t listen to this type of music that often but it put me in a good mood. No stand out tracks, but solid album.
Dark, brooding, gritty bluesy-themed songs.
Sets quite the vibe. Can hear it’s influence in modern dream pop like portishead and beach house. Very solid album.
Was surprised how impressed I was with this one as I only knew American pie and Vincent, which in my opinion were a bit played out but when together with the album they are excellent. Extremely cohesive album that flows nicely. Definitely has a melancholy feel throughout.
Pleasantly surprised by this one as well. Definitely not within my general listening sphere. A chaotic listen and blend of different genres.
Absolutely gorgeous album. Scratchy vocals that easily reach her ranges. Haunting ballads on love, breakup, introspection and healing seep from her recent breakup with her partner. Love song is my favorite. Truly so beautiful. Major Amy wine house vibes, and overall incredible emotion pouring from every song. No problem giving this one 5/5.
I maybe would have liked this album 10 years ago when I was more into hip hop, but I am not so much anymore. Rhymes were a bit corny at times too and felt like it was freestyled rather than written.
Not really a fan of this old 70s funk but I’m sure it was hype in its time.
Pain in my ears. I can’t stand this type of droning rock. Horrible vocals. Miss America and resigned are the only tolerable songs.
…this, isn’t music???? Baffled
Feels like a fever dream.
Been a lot of albums recently I have not liked at all. This is a weird punk, chanting style lyrics. Comes across to me as trying too hard to be edgy. Overall just hate it.
Blues meshed with country saloon vibes. Feel like I just traveled on my horse for a couple of days on the great frontier and stumbled up to a barren town with nothing but a bar and I’m eating my grits and drinking beer. Glad it was short though because it’s once again not my type of music.
Rap not really my thing but these instrumentals and vintage lyrics were kinda cool.
Super unique voice. I know it’s widely acclaimed. My first listen through I was not in love but I am going to give it another go and perhaps it’s one that’ll grow on me. Lyrics are sad but the instrumentals don’t match in my opinion.
Was pleasantly surprised by this one. Not big rap guy these days but this one was just hard and well put together. The interludes and general theme work really well with the dark and rough lyrics. A lyrical journey meshed incredibly well with the martial art theme.
Really like this ambient music. Nice sounds that make me feel something and isn’t that what art is all about.
Incredible debut album. Such classic rock tunes with that nostalgic feel to them. Reeling in the years one of my favorites of all time.
I absolutely can’t stand this type of rock where they use droning voices that have no real tune to them. And the boys say hey goo what’s new, my friend goo just says P-U???? Are you kidding me? Garbage. Reminds me of the le tigre album. Some songs are not wretched so I won’t give it a 1.
Solid cohesive trance album. Impressive that this was released in 1995. Ahead of its time I’d say.
Lyrical portion is pretty boring. Really good production. Pretty average modern r&b album.
Boring rap album. No instrumental based beats. Heavy on drums and lyrics.
I hear a lot of David Bowie in this album, specifically in nocturnal me. Also definitely some Smiths influence. Weird that the band tried to market the album as greatest ever made. Not a huge fan but also not atrocious.
incredible front to back album. Such a dream-state vibe to it. Not to mention has some of the most iconic and recognizable singles of its era (EWTRTW and shout).
Impressive debut album. Definitely a lot of emotion in the lead vocals. Strong rock mixed with blues. Seeing things and talks to angels are the standouts for me. A bit too upbeat and hard jammy for me but solid nonetheless as a body of work.
Probably an album I wouldn’t come back to, especially given how a few of the songs I’ve heard on classic rock stations numerous times. Regardless, was surprised to find that the rest of album is solid as well. Cool to find out they originated in Boston. Definitely an interesting mix of classic rock mixed with new wave synth sounds.
It’s funny that this is regarded as one of greatest albums of all time. I can’t get behind The Beach Boys orchestra, uptempo approach. They are definitely very much in their own lane of sound and create that surf, summertime feel. I do enjoy the slower, ballad songs on the album such as please let me wonder and in the back of my mind, but the pace of the first half of the album prevents me from enjoying it as a whole.
Really liked no one said it would be easy, what I can do for you, we do what we can. Sheryl crow has a very recognizable voice. Smoky and sultry, enjoy the way she layers her voice for choruses. She has an incredible blend of rock, pop, blues, jazz. This was her debut album. The initial one was scrapped but is leaked on internet. Mental note to find that as she deemed it to be overproduced. This one is definitely raw-just her full-hearted vocals and instrumentals. Incredible album.
It’s bob marley. It’s a 5/5. Absolute legend with meaningful lyrics and haunting sound. King of old-style reggae.
To screechy and hard-rocky. So many recognizable tunes but just not my thang.
Love nas but don’t love Illmatic due to where my current music taste lyes. It’s deep New York, drum heavy rap in an era that lacked much other sound in hip hop.
Not a huge fan. Pretty barebones and repetitive.
Perfect album. Great production after many plain ES albums. If you really wanna hate yourself just listen to this.
Classic indie alternative album. Supposed to see them in a couple of weeks. Was originally with Beck and Feist but they both dropped after sexual abuse accusations agains win butler. Tough shit and was mainly going for Beck. Anyway, some classics in here but a bit heavy of an album. Could’ve been trimmed down.
Cat Stevens. Very unique voice, catchy melodies, solid lyrics. Nothing that stands out about him necessarily, but these combined make him quite the folk/pop singer. Solid album.
One of the greatest hip hop storytelling albums of all time. Brings back major memories from early high school. Wow what a breakout album for Kendrick. Instant classic.
Pleasant album. Would be nice to walk through a field in Spain listening to this.
It started off interesting with nice layered instruments and grooves, layered vocals. Slowly shifted until it just sounded like he was cracked out and hitting his drums off beat and playing simple bass runs while mumbling to himself. Not great.
Jammy blues, southern swamp themed. Heard many of these songs before. Well put together but don’t love the music.
Lots of recognizable guitar riffs, flutes etc. nicely put together album.
Just an instrumental jazz album. Was cool to hear My Lady, a track sampled in some rap songs.
Don’t really like this album. punk rock never it for me, especially punk rock with women’s vocals for some reason. Just comes across as punchy and droning. 2:1 kinda nice though.
I don’t love all Beatles tracks but it’s hard to not recognize and appreciate how amazing their sound is. Within you without you and day in the life are the standouts for me. Deeply pensive tracks. Haunting.
Was expecting a rock album, instead got a jazz-blues pop fusion. Very soulful. A couple of really solid stripped down ballads. Definitely can tell it was made when it was. A gospel was a hip hop song also. Interesting. For some reason it went with the album too. Probably wouldn’t come back to this album to play any specific song but it’s a good album nonetheless.
I actually dig this hard. Can’t help but move about when it’s on.
Just one look at the album cover and the band name makes me cringe and not want to listen. Wow that band name is cringe. I can’t even tell if she is speaking English in a lot of the songs. Awful.
Voice reminds me a lot of tears for fears. A but yelpy.
either this concept was created to highlight albums from this time period that all sound the same or the creator just really liked pop-punk with punchy vocals and short repetitive riffs.
Oh look- another punk album.
This album pretty beautiful. Very well composed.
Really good psych album. I would say timeless. Hadn’t heard it but big fan.
Recorded in a single session-it is noticeable. No variability at all. Sloppy. Annoying. Most of these albums are punk/rock English bands. Going to do some research into who put together 1001 albums after this one.
Morrissey has the inimitable sound. Drones on and hits very dissonant tones with his voice. Genius.
Bad
It’s ok. There are some timeless classics here that everyone knows, but it’s somewhat of a boring album that lacks any wow.
Just lacks character. I don’t like this era of rock at all. Sounds like a garage jam band that wants to be edgy. Tried to find a redeeming song but couldn’t.
Soulful and seductive. Always cool to go back to these classic albums and heat snippets used in samples (just to keep you satisfied in leaving you by fabolous, as I am sure in many others too).
Everyone knows tainted love. But have you heard of its stepbrother, sex dwarf? What a hilarious song. This was an odd one.
Kinda cool dream-like trance album. Gives me some David Bowie vibes.
I wish this album never ended. Same thing with this man’s life. I could get lost in his music forever. Just a guitar and his voice but it feels like an entire band. Truly an incredible, generational talent.
Electronic music. Sounds like a film score. Not really music I would casually listen to in any setting or time.
This is great. 1985 but does not seem 45+ years old. A really good blend of pop, funk, soul, r&b. For me, evokes the feeling of having been emotional over something for a long time, feeling tired of it, and turning inward and a bit cold with a new veiled perspective of the world.
Meh
Heavy religious inspired album. Lots of anti-establishment sentiment as well. Fast-paced, a bit stressful to listen to, but not necessarily in a bad way. Makes you feel the frantic nature of living in modern 21st century (early 21st century release). Album closes with big cathedral organ sound, with win butler’s voice echoing over a pulsating drum/guitar thump. Really glad I saw this band live.
It’s a rock opera. Bit jumpy. Good sound but not something you wanna sit down and listen to.
Christmas time music. Probably would have enjoyed more if I had listened during the holidays. Missed opp.
Really solid folk rock album. I enjoyed this immensely. Rest in peace David Crosby.
A bit boring for me. Elevator music.
I like some dinosaur jr but not this album at all. Has the punk rock sound that this list is littered with.
Trailblazing R&B sound. I definitely get lost in these songs and feel like they have been going on for much longer than they have. Such a nice smooth blend of jazz and pop.
I really cannot stand the music or the vocals. Make it stop.
When I come around is such a classic but otherwise don’t like this album too much. Woulda went hard early 2000s though no doubt
Can’t find much on this band but this album was really good. They seem underrated to me. Reminds me a bit of the smiths.
Really weird album with the wailing synthed woman voice in a lot of songs. I don’t like this.
It wasn’t unbearable but I did not like the album as a whole. Beetlebum and strange news from another star are the two standout tracks for me. I will have to listen to more of their discography based on those two songs.
It’s nice but it’s missing a little pinch. It’s boring and definitely forgettable on a track to track basis.
Not good AND cringe
So many all-time, forever known songs. Huge album. Some songs I would deem throwaway due to being too jumpy and energetic in the Beatles fashion that I am not as partial to (beach boys sound). Those that hit do hit though.
Hate to say it but not my favorite from zep. In fact don’t really like this album. I know that’s a very unpopular opinion, but it’s too rock for me. I like that slower, psychedelic rock feel from them. Still all time great band if not the best.
Decent. Kinda boring, Mariah had impressive vocals. Pretty standard r&b album.
Pass. Boring rock.
Want to like it more because of Salisbury hill but album doesn’t sound good to me. Lacks character and just blends together.
Put me in a trance
A good funk album. I recognized a couple of the riffs as being sampled in songs. Think instrumental samples in nobody’s perfect by j Cole.
Classic. All time. Cool 102.
Classic steely Dan. Jazzy and rock. Cohesive album, but not a lot of great tunes like its predecessor.
Incredibly classic and regarded by many as one of greatest of all time. I don’t love all the way through like I do some but so many good ones.
Interesting to see what electronic music started out as but nah
Decent trance club music. Could make some cool remixes on a DJ board, but probably wouldn’t listen just chillin.
I really can’t stand this album. It received high praise. It reminds me of the British punk that I don’t like. The talking, droning, lack of singing doesn’t work for me.
Nothing to write home about
