Except for the first song, this is boring synth pop.
Amazing voice.
I find that with R.E.M. their songs are either mediocre or absolute bangers. I knew going into this album their were two certified bangers. It's the End of the World As We Know It and The One I Love, with the former being my favourite song by them. I found the first four songs to fall into the mediocre category but starting with the track Strange and, with the song Fireplace, I found the rest of the tracks to be bangers. I was prepared to only give this album only two stars but because of the strong finish I upped it to three stars. I still think that anyone who says the Beatles are boring is probably pretty boring themselves and Michael Stipe has been quoted as saying exactly that. Michael, when yoy make an album as incredible as Sgt. Pepper or Abbey Road, you can talk trash. Until then you should shut up and listen.
Sorry, I can't stand this band. I feel that their version of "heavy metal" has lost all connection with the Blues which is an essential ingredient in any genre of music.
The only song that stands out is The Girl From Ipanema.
A blues rock masterpiece! Five stars
I liked their sound butnot all of the songs were up tp par.
Good voice but the songs are boring.
The Temptations are indeed the Sultans of Soul. Papa Was A Rolling Stone by itself would elevate this album to a three star rating but there are at least three other songs that are essential. Funky Music, Run Freddie Run and Do Your Thing are all worthy songs.
Typical 80's hair metal. Meaning it sucks. Long live Zep!
It would be a five star except there are a couple of weak songs. The ballads I don't care for.
Not hard enough to be Punk and not tuneful enough to be New Wave.
It's not my type of music but you cannot deny the talent and creativity of the musicians.
Jeff Beck on guitar and Rod Stewart on vocals? It does not get much better than that. I actually give it 4.5 stars but there is no option for that.
Just when rock needed it most, this album shook up the establishment and gave rock a much deserved kick in the ass.
They know how to rock.
A country music classic
It doesn't get much better then Jeff Beck on guitar.
rock and roll with lots of pop hooks.
A masterpiece.
I don't like her voice. The first song was good but that was it.
One Love, baby!!!
I was prepared to not like this album because I don't usually listen to this genre. I had heard some tracks from his former band Can and I was not impressed. Was I wrong. Every track on this album is amazing. It is the perfect marriage of experimentation and pop music.
!967. 12 years old. The most wicked, dangerous album I had ever heard.
Excellent debut with some of the finest guitar licks ever put on vinyl.
cRap!
The title track alone would give this album four stars. Long live the spirit of Lennon.
I didn't think I would like this band but they can rock pretty good.
A lot of people will give this album five stars but if Dark Side of the Moon is five stars, and in my opinion it is, than this album is only four stars because Dark Side is superior to this.
Boring!!!
It was ok. I didn't hear any songs I would put om my playlist.
Hell, I'll give five stars for the guitar player alone. The rest of the band is impeccable but that guitar is what made this album. My favorite is Three Days. You don't even realize the song is almost 11 minutes.long.
Another album that I would probably never have listened to if I was not a member of this project. Every song on here is perfectly crafted. They remind me a little of Cheap Trick with the way they combine pop and rock in a perfect mix.
Superb pop music.
I love these guys and I'm 70 years old. Not a bad song on here. These guys are incredibly creative and the musicianship is impeccable.
Boring and pretentious.
Amazing.
Generic pop.
Sorry, but I just don't get it.
Do I need to say anything? Anything below five stars should not be allowed
I'd give it three and a half if I could.
She has a great voice but none of these songs are standouts. I would like to see her sit down with only the piano and none of the production. 2.5 Stars.
This is how all country albums should sound. Five out of five stars. I can't believe I saw some one star reviews for this album. That's okay, I will probably give one or two stars to the albums that they like. The universe will balance itself out. Dwight is true to the heart of country. Hank Williams would be a fan.
A genuine masterpiece.
Ingratiatingly painful to listen to.
It took me two listens to really appreciate this album. I was prepared to only give it two and a half or three stars but now I am giving it four stars. I didn't like her voice at first but the second time I listened I had an awakening. I hear shades of Patti Smith and the Pretenders. I even hear echoes of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. The songwriting is very strong and the execution of each song is perfect.
Alternative rock meets psychedelic rock. These guys had to have been listening to some Pink Floyd and some Jimi. The standout track for me is track two, Upon 9th and Fairchild.
This kind of music was done better in 1977.
I'm actually giving this 4 and 1/2 stars. It would get five if it was not for the Mr Jimmy song. Van Halen in top form. I think Hot For Teacher is my favorite.
The best Christmas album ever. The standout track for me is Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) bye Darlene Love. Yes, I know the horrible things that Phil Spector did but we must learn to separate the art from the artist.
I know it sounds dated but at the time it was released this was some explosive music. Got to give it five.
I was only familiar with Black Sabbath's first two albums. So, I never heard this before. I like it a lot. However, I could only give it four stars because the first two albums are definitely five stars and this is not quite as good as they are. It's still rocks.
Based on the one song I have heard by these guys, I Want To Be Your Dog, I was not expecting much. But this album surprised me. Every song is killer except for the last one. That's why it gets four stars instead of five.
Not my thing.
One of Bob's best. Maybe his best, but he has several albums that could be in that category. I remember this was kind of a comeback for Bob. Pure genius.
Didn't care much for the singing but the guitar work and the songwriting brought it up to four stars.
A masterpiece by one of the most underrated songwriters of the 20th century. To me, he is comparable to Dylan and Lennon and McCartney along with many other great songwriters. Let's not mention his voice which is one of the best singing voices I've ever heard.
Another masterpiece by the master.
My brain feels like it's been beaten to a pulp after listening to this mess.
Six out of five stars. Bruce Springsteen's best work ever. The E Street Band are at their peak. I cannot praise this album enough. It helped me through some dark spots in my life. It also holds a special place because it was the album they were touring on the first time I ever saw them. Pure, raw rock and roll at its best. Badlands and Adam Raised a Cain are the standouts. The perfect follow-up to Born To Run. A road map to adulthood.
Soul music at its finest. A couple of the songs were weak but Solomon's voice made them stronger.
Wow, I had never heard these guys before and that was definitely my loss. Every song on here is amazing. Punk infused with blues. I love it.
The musicianship is impeccable but the songs are boring.
I guess I just don't get it. I find this music kind of boring.
It might have been rated four stars if it hadn't buried some of the good songs in noise and distortion
I prefer Peter Gabriel's solo material. A lot of these songs sounded like generic prog.
If this is the music they play in heaven then send me to hell where all the good blues is. Anyway, if I wanted to listen to trippy music I'd put on Pink Floyd. If I want to hear some great music in a language I don't understand then I will put on the Hu Band.
