Antichrist Superstar
Marilyn MansonSchlocky horror. Not a lot beyond the surface. It’s just glam rock, really. Totally ruined by the recent revelations about him as a person. Can’t enjoy this at all now, not that it was particularly worth a listen.

Not as good as their later stuff with Bruce Dickinson. Not sure why this would make the book?

Honestly? Barely listenable. There are a couple of nice songs on it, but it turns out Kurt Cobain already heard them and did vastly superior covers of them. The rest is mediocre.
“What’s the next best band after the Beatles? Ah the Stones, obviously.” Received wisdom, right? But…eh. Not for me. I don’t get it. At all. Sorry.
Obscenely wonderful voice.
Good lord. In what world is this possibly up for consideration for the 1001 albums you must hear? If it was the 1001 best albums of 1992, Stereo MCs’ Connected would have no business being in the list. I gave each track a minute and it was the biggest waste of time in my life. I’ve given one star and this album is much worse than those.
I get that it’s an important record and that it’s influential etc. just didn’t do much for me.
Yeah, great. Such a distinctive sound. MB was a great pop star, and the songs are good.
Good lord, no thanks
In my early 20s I would have probably called this my favourite, or at least one of my 5-6 favourite albums. I’m nearly 40 now and my love of Dylan has dimmed slightly - I actually think the brilliance of his lyrics is slightly overstated and his musical output isn’t consistent - but I still love this record. The best songs on here , for me I Want You, Just Like, Sooner Or Later, Sad Eyed Lady… Look I mean I’m a massive softy and make no apologies…are all just tremendous. Subjective opinion: It’s not quite as good an album as Blood on the Tracks, which is just about perfect in terms of song crafting. It’s a 4.75 album for incredible moments and overall good consistency level.
Brilliant record. She could have been bigger than…very big things.
Wonderful. Among the best pop music that’s ever been made.
Obviously brilliant.
Meh
Really delightful record.
Such a banger. Five stars. Fünf stars.
I adore this album. It’s like a member of my family (except that I like spending time with it). Its familiarity never reduces my enjoyment. Maxwell and Octopus are objectively shit songs but literally every other second of the album is magnificent. A fitting swansong - vastly better than Let It Be or the (IMHO) overrated White Album.
Controversial this but…don’t get it. It’s all just “look at me” rock cliche. I’d rather give it a miss.
Trip down memory lane. It’s held up well actually; more consistent than I remembered.
Not for me, Clive.
Meh
Really not that special for me. Sorry MJ fans. And not just because he was a paedophile - I just don’t find it to be the sensational music that everyone thinks it is.
Disappointing. A great voice, but the songs on here are hit and miss.
I
Now you’re talking.
Jesus, what a guitarist. A genius.
Lord above. What a magnificent genius he is. Ostensibly here’s a little fella who plays three instruments- voice, guitar and harmonica. He does none of these things to virtuoso standards, or even particularly well. His songs totally lack the melodic or harmonic invention of his peers McCartney, Wilson etc. Their lyrics, when written down, are not great poetry by any standards. Sorry, Dylanophiles, it’s true. Production? Did he even take an interest? Not sure but there’s not much going on if interest. And yet. And yet to argue against his genius using any of these points would be to completely miss the wood for the trees. And what a wood it is, for these songs, the songs of BIABH and of Dylan in his golden era from the early mid 60s til 76, quite simply do a better job of conveying the human experience than almost anyone else’s. He is a great, a legend, iconic, worshipped, for a reason.
Not for me
Marvellous. A combination of the early signs of utter genius, and some rip roaring covers. God I love them.
This is hardly essential. Jeez.
What’s this doing here? Holy hell. Absolute mediocrity.
Weird that the band themselves dont love this record. I think it’s as good as any of their others, and I like it a lot.
Not my cup of tea at all. 3 stars because it was essentially easy listening, which is what it sets out to be. But it wasn’t interesting at all. Would never listen again.
Good but not the stone cold classic some would have you believe.
