Untitled (Black Is)
SAULTI like this so much. How could I not know this group?
I like this so much. How could I not know this group?
Too repetitive-
I bought this album the day it was released. Yes, I’m one of those ‘Boomers’ who owns a record player! I really enjoyed listening to this album & am so glad it was included. After Nashville Skyline this is my second favorite Dylan.
I truly thought I would love this- remembering Saturday In The Park. There were moments when the harmonies reminded me of The Bee Gees. But overall, tedious & too much ‘noodling’ for my taste.
I’m crazy about Louis Prima. He definitely embodies the spirit of his home town, New Orleans. I particularly like duets with Smith. I know he pushed a lot of boundaries & did a lot to improve the stature of immigrant & African American musicians.
I love BB King. Generally I’m not a fan of live recordings but the blues tend to be an exception for me.
I did enjoy this album, but for my personal taste Wilco is where I’m at.
I’ll always associate this album with a particular bar. When it dropped I was working at a record store and would meet up with coworkers for drinks after work. This was loved by all & in frequent play at the bar. A wonderful memory!
I’m not a fan of Bjork
I love the slow songs, very dreamy
I really enjoyed this album. I have always been in the John Lennon camp but did remember the easy & fluidity of Paul’s vocals. Listened to this on a hike through the redwoods, just perfect.
I wasn’t impressed. I saw them in Chicago when I was a young teen. Didn’t care for them then either
I love this. I’ve always been a fan of Neil. My favorite album of his is Stars & Bars. I could listen to him all day.
Brings back lots of memories. Get Out of My Life, Woman being an all time favorite song of mine.
Always loved his style on the guitar but not a fan of his voice
I like the ‘folk’ aspects.
I love his voice, his excellent songwriting & the superb musicians he works with. The tribute he sang at Shane MacGowan’s funeral was so moving.
Sorry, I just can’t abide her voice
I love the messy but very moving music & energy of the Dolls. Sometimes they bring to mind Jim Carroll. Altogether I really liked their sound. Wish they had lived/played together longer
Sweet, sweet voice. I’d heard her before but hadn’t really listened to a full selection. Just soothing & sweet.
I do like this album. In general though I prefer house music to backbeat. I do love the fact that Prodigy incorporates vocals & live performances, something not always found in backbeat.
Anywhere Like Heaven is my favorite song on this album. Overall the album has weathered well. This being one of the many soundtracks of my teen years I enjoyed reminiscing as I listened.
I did enjoy this album but it’s just not my favorite of his.
I really liked this album. Had only heard the big hit before. I enjoyed hearing Ronnie Wood. Atlantic Crossing is my favorite Stewart album but I love hearing this ‘early’ work.
This was a real pleasure. Hell Freezes Over will always be my favorite though.
How did I not know The Black Keys?! I love this!
I knew of him, knew about his political persuasions but had not taken the time to listen to him fully. I loved this & am excited to have a ‘new’ musician in my daily arsenal.
I know this album is thought to be one of their best. Not for me though. I love The Bee Gees but not this album so much
Not for me
I was aware of her songwriting skills but did not listen to her own music until this album came out. I enjoyed it. Laura Nyro was my choice of female artist at that time.
I like this so much. How could I not know this group?
What a beautiful album. I love his voice
I truly wish I could like this album.
I really enjoyed this album. He has the sweetest voice!
When studio musicians get ‘above their raisin’! How did they last as long as they did?
Next to the Kinks, the Who were a big favorite of mine. Enjoyed listening to this very much.
Bought back so many good memories. I loved this!
Snooze fest
A bit monotonous but perfect for an overcast California day.
I love listening to this! My favorite of his though is the ‘Are You Experienced’ album.
Ol’ Blue Eyes! The Final Curtain, what a lovely song. All of this album is delightful.
His voice is wonderful. The lyrics are incredibly sad. I couldn’t listen to the entire album. Heartbreaking
I really enjoyed listening to this. So many great songs
Derivative
Monotonous
I love listening to this. Tiny Dancer!! What a career he’s had.
I’ve seen him in person several times. Ramblin’ is an apt name. He talked more than sang & most of what he said made little sense. I do like his music, his style.
I tried so hard to like this. Some of these songs were very familiar to me. But, it just didn’t move me.
This is lovely. Melodic & mesmerizing.
These were songs of my childhood. My sisters & I busked towns in the Midwest playing, amongst other things, several songs from this album.
I like this album very much. And I own it too. Since the album isn’t available to listen to on this site, I listened to my own copy. My favorite Joni album is Hejira.
Dirt bikes & chain saws.
I like Billy Bragg. Though I’m not overly fond of the political stuff. Mermaid Avenue is my favorite. California Stars
I love his voice. I don’t love how overproduced this album is. Black Sheep Boy is a favorite of mine. Tim Hardin being one of my favorite singer/songwriter artists.
Winwood & Mason. I really enjoyed hearing this album. Once I owned it so it was like visiting an old friend.
A rollicking, fun album.
I loved What I Don’t Know, I Sang Dixie & Send Me The Pillow ( although he didn’t write it ). I’m not crazy about him but he is a great performer & even better songwriter.
I love his voice. Was moved by his tribute at Shane MacGowan’s funeral. But not crazy about his song choices- monotonous.
The yodeling on Spaced Cowboy is delicious! I skipped some of the instrumentals. Mostly I really enjoyed it!
Who doesn’t love James Brown? This album isn’t my favorite of his but it does capture the intensity of his live performances
I did not realize how many great songs were on this album. All of it- just lovely
He was never a favorite but I did enjoy the album. A lovely voice but his choices ran a bit maudlin for my taste.
I enjoyed this very much. I’ve been listening to Folkocracy for a couple of months & love his song choices.
Yuk
I enjoyed this very much. Especially the songs that never had air play.
I know every song on this album. Except for Mountain with the McCoury Brothers, this is my favorite.
Didn’t like the entire album but overall enjoyed it. Reminds me of the Joe Jackson era
Yes, I know this album, every song. But Nashville Skyline will always be my favorite. Blood on the Tracks a close second.
So sweet listening to this. I only knew the more popular songs but really enjoyed all of the album.
Little wonder the world fell in love with them!
I love the harmonies & the song choices. It’s just too saccharine for my taste.
Every bit of this- just lovely
I love every song on this album. The Brown Album will always be my favorite though.
When I Die, Spinning Wheel &’You Made Me So Very Happy are favorites of mine- going way back.
I like Madness. So upbeat. One Step Beyond is my favorite.
I love this so much. So full of life!
Too repetitive
I’m a big fan of Beck’s music. It’s my favorite listen while traveling.
Yes, there were songs that didn’t inspire but I am impressed by how well this album stands the test of time. Excellent musicians
Brought back a lot of good memories.
I don’t feel this has aged very well.
I love this. Always been a big fan of Shane’s. I especially like his version of Dirty Old Town.
So fun to listen to this again
I’m a big fan. Have been enjoying his superb guitar playing for years
I tried- but still not crazy about George
I still love all of this. Papa Was A Rodeo being my favorite
Trying to be the Beatles. Not my favorite. Their later work is my favorite.
I love this! So exuberant!!
So sweet! I love his voice
