1001 Albums Summary

Better than I expected! Was not expecting there to be so many recognizable songs. The intro is very Thom Yorke-inspired (to me) which I think is pretty neat. The outro and intro have similar vibes that I think give a nice symmetry to the album.

I can tell this album pioneered a lot of things that were emulated after the fact. Reminds me of bands like The Vaccines, The Drums, maybe a little Temper Trap. Very chill album with a very nice outro song, gives Adventure Time

Not the sound I would expect from what I have heard from Funkadelic, a lot more electric guitar riffs then I have come to expect. Very fun and chill album, good for cooking in the kitchen or grilling outside.

Bangers. Great jamming tracks. Great for a road trip!

Very cool and raw album. Worth revisiting for sure. Some very deep songs peppered with some very funny songs.

Really solid album, surprised how few songs I recognized. Seemed to be a recurring motif throughout the album which I always appreciate. Frances Farmer will have her revenge on Seattle gave me a good laugh because at 2:25 it sounds a lot like the end part of Kickapoo from Tenacious D

Love love love. A new classic favorite. Early in the morning instrumentals are incredible

Not quite my cup of tea personally but a really good example of what good country music can be that doesn’t follow the typical modern day formula of the likes of Kieth Urban etc

Honestly? The whole album kind of ran together. Nothing stood out to me at all. Very much all sounded the same. I could see myself liking this maybe back in 2019-2020. Maybe worth revisiting but I doubt I’ll change my opinion

Wow. Incredible from front to back. Damn near a religious experience. This captures so many different sounds and sounds truly timeless. I feel touched by this album

Money for nothing is a banger

Had to enable editing just for this because I accidentally clicked 1 star before entering notes. This was so mediocre and I feel vindicated for never listening to R.E.M. Complete waste of time listening to this, respectfully.

Not for me personally but I can appreciate it for what it is. Not something I need to listen to again, though the intro Gematria is pretty cool.

Super interesting and unique sounds. Come back to this one again for sure.

This one is really fun, good album to throw on for just about anything. Some of it sounds like it would be used in a trailer/movie from the 90s/early 2000s

Great album! A few standouts including Jet and Picasso's Last Words. Not necessarily something I think I would feel a need to come back to but highly enjoyable.

Unbelievable that this was all improvised. I wish I had a better trained ear to fully appreciate everything that's happening here but even so, wildly impressive and I look forward to listening again to pick up on things I may not have noticed the first time around.

Imagine my surprise when I learned there was a Phantom part one after loving Pt. II all this time. Loved the rest of the album as well! I just became a Justice fan.

Wow! Two Slipknot albums in one week. More than I ever thought I would listen to in my lifetime. This one felt slightly weaker than All Hope Is Gone but still decent. Going to give this one a 2 primarily because it's a lot more apparent this really isn't for me listening to two of their albums just days apart.

My first Temptations album, hell yeah. This was a bop, nothing with staying power for me though. Mental note to check out their other stuff.

What a cool album! I thought the overtures really elevated the whole project. Mushrooms & Roses followed by Suite III Overture was absolutely AMAZING. Just a gorgeous transition between the two tracks and the continuing motif between the two was god tier.

Some decent tracks on this one, not quite my thing but thought it was enjoyable to listen to on some level

WOW! This is one of those albums that is such a breath of fresh air and so so different from anything I would come across on my own. It's so peaceful and yet engaging at the same time. Joanna Newsom's vocals go along perfectly with the absolutely beautiful orchestration found throughout this album. This one will definitely be going into my rotation and I am very much looking forward to listening again.

Pretty cool album. I've never listened to Kraftwerk before but have heard of them. I immediately could tell they were a huge inspiration for Daft Punk's sound and it was cool to hear that throughout the album. At minimum 4 starts for me just because of the masterpiece that is Spiegelsaal.

Adding this one to the rotation for sure. Easy to see why this is the favorite album for many!

My first Talking Heads album and it did not disappoint. Didn't quite feel like there was anything for me in there but I still thought it was great and get the feeling there is an album out there for me that I will love front to back.

Not sure if this could be neatly categorized as country but for me I would say it is. Love the harmonica!

Great album front to back. A few songs on here I didn't even realize were from The Doors! The End is possibly one of the greatest album outros of all time.

I respect Springsteen as a person and for what he stands for but for some reason this just didn't really do it for me. I imagine I'd feel differently if I grew up listening to it.

Incredibly easy 5 stars to give. This is a perfect record front to back. A very strong start to my first-ever Led Zeppelin album listen. Trampled Under Foot, In the Light and Ten Years Gone were standouts for me, though the entire rest of the album isn't very far behind.

Pretty good, some good samples. Nothing that jumped out at me immediately but I think I'd like to give this one another listen down the road.
