Fun 80’s old school hip hop

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Feb 20 2024

First day, first album. Good genre bending album with some great tunes and aggressive vocals. I liked it and I’m glad to finally give more recognition to Beastie boys!

Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Feb 21 2024

Simons voice is so sweet mixed in this sugary sound

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Feb 22 2024

Yep her name sounds exactly like the music, dusty springfield

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Feb 23 2024

Knowing only ”I wanna be adored” which is a song that I really adooore, I had my hopes high. Unfortunately the rest of the album was bit of a led down, it did absolutely nothing to me. That said, I can still appreciate it though.

The Yes Album by Yes
Feb 24 2024

There were no stand out songs nor were there any terrible ones either. Just a OK. 2.5/5

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Feb 25 2024

Refreshing, great stuff

The Idiot by Iggy Pop
Feb 26 2024

Cure for my hangover

Stankonia by OutKast
Feb 27 2024

Fun, fresh, funky. Definitely has one of the catchiest songs ever, yes you, Ms. Jackson.

Central Reservation by Beth Orton
Feb 28 2024

Positive thing is that from this project I was really hoping to discover new music and I've never heard of Beth Orton so this was a really nice discovery (especially cause I listen to a lot of female singers of the 90's). I liked a few songs a lot (”sweet decline” and ”couldn't cause me harm”), although some songs were kinda forgettable. But still this was sweet.

Smile by Brian Wilson
Feb 29 2024

I would recommend everyone to take a deeper look into this project, if you're not already familiar with it. Beautiful piece of art.

Mar 01 2024

”To say what you feel is to dig your own grave” Raw, powerful and beautiful. Still, one of my favorites of all time. Rip Sinéad.

Boston by Boston
Mar 02 2024

Meh.. didn’t connect with this

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Mar 03 2024

I adore this album, absolutely gorgeous

Horses by Patti Smith
Mar 04 2024

I mean, how can you not think this is what she didn't serve here???

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Mar 07 2024

Tiny dancer slaps ofc but the rest I wasn't too familiar to begin with so I think I need to listen to this again. Overall I dig what I was hearing.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Mar 09 2024

It doesn't get any better than this. This is a fucking banger of an album, a masterpiece.

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Mar 10 2024

It's been a while since I listened to 50's music, so this was a nice little trip down memory lane. Surely has that one of a kind atmosphere in the music at that time.

Ananda Shankar by Ananda Shankar
Mar 11 2024

Interesting concept, but I was really not feeling it as much as I would have wanted to

Synchronicity by The Police
Mar 12 2024

Not really my sting but I'm in a good mood today so I'm gonna give it 2.5/5 and round it to 2

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Mar 13 2024

Pretty top-notch Bowie

Raw Power by The Stooges
Mar 14 2024

I really know nothing about Iggy Pop nor the Stooges, but I always thought they sounded cool, I'm gonna keep it that way

So Much For The City by The Thrills
Mar 15 2024

This kind of music I guess isn't just my thing, I did like the first song (\"Santa Cruz\") but then I lost interest. On a positive note, completely new discovery for me

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Mar 16 2024

Cute and jazzy. I liked that it is live, really takes you back to that moment

Car Wheels On A Gravel Road by Lucinda Williams
Mar 17 2024

Just not my thing at all and I don’t think I will never willingly listen to this ever again. 1.5/5

Electric by The Cult
Mar 18 2024

I know giving this only 2 stars isn't much, but this was surprisingly a little bit more enjoyable that I would have though. I mean the album cover looks terrible and not a big fan of this specific 80's hard rock sound but yeah, not that bad!

Mar 19 2024

Okay okay okay so I'm a bit conflicted. I always told myself that I never really liked coldplay and maybe some of that has to do with the image that has been painted for me: them just being really bland, bland and boring overrated band. And sure, some of their stuff is really just that and even many of their highly appreciated hits have never really resonated with me and some just sound god-awful. So I've just come to the conclusion that yeah don't care for them as much to really never give them a try, but now I can finally say that I've given them a fair try and at least listened to one of their albums. And after listening to this, I'm kinda surprised. It's not that bad! Not really my thing though, but not as terrible as I would have thought. So me rating this album still fairly low is still a positive thing because I really thought I was going to hate the shit ouf ot this. 2.5/5

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Mar 20 2024

Not bad, but mediocre 2.5/5

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Mar 23 2024

Hands down one of the best hip hop albums I’ve ever heard

Vulnicura by Björk
Mar 24 2024

Björk's my favorite artist, so I was obviously very excited to get this album today. Her music touches me like no other and this especially has got me through some shit. One of my all time favorites.

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Mar 25 2024

This is one of those folky albums which my mom used to play all the time when I was a kid. It brings me so many memories and holds a very sweet sweet spot in my life.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Mar 26 2024

Omg what an awful shit am I forced to listen to, this is torture

Hot Shots II by The Beta Band
Mar 27 2024

Never heard of them before, nice new discovery

m b v by My Bloody Valentine

Abbey Road by Beatles
Mar 29 2024

Obviously 5 stars

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Mar 30 2024

Feels like a soft blanket

Faith by George Michael
Apr 04 2024

C’mon this is good!

Songs Of Love And Hate by Leonard Cohen
Apr 05 2024

I like his voice particularly. The album over all wasn't matching my mood today, maybe some other day it would have been higher, because I understand the appeal

Document by R.E.M.
Apr 06 2024

Just not my thing

Transformer by Lou Reed
Apr 07 2024

Lot of the music that I listen to is around this time period but why oh why haven't I given enough recognition to Lou. Well it was about time

Murmur by R.E.M.
Apr 09 2024

Another R.E.M. album within a week. I do prefer this more than Document, although I find this pretty boring 2.5/5

Repeater by Fugazi
Apr 10 2024

Funny coincidence, I just started looking deeper into Fugazis discography and started with this one, really good stuff

Gentlemen by The Afghan Whigs
Apr 11 2024

Now I Got Worry by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Apr 12 2024

Kid A by Radiohead
Apr 13 2024

What can I say, it’s a masterpiece

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Apr 15 2024

Perfect for this spring sunday morning

So by Peter Gabriel
Apr 16 2024

One of those albums I've meant to listen to for so long. So now after listening, I thought I would have like it more to be honest, but it's pretty solid

Apr 17 2024

Ah well wasn’t this breeze of fresh air after having a bit of a tough time going trough this challenge. By far the most positively surprising discovery. Ofc I've known about George Michael before and listened to a lot of Wham back in the days. I don't know why but I just never was invested to look what else was there on his solo discography. I got ”Faith” a couple weeks back and was then pleasantly surprised by it. I really liked it and now this album just blew me away. George has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard, I never made the comparison but his voice reminds me a lot of Freddies. Beautiful piece of work and the album cover is brilliant. I’m happy to discover this.

Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.
May 02 2024

Fun 80’s old school hip hop

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
May 03 2024

I've come to notice that when it comes to jazz I'm really clueless, all I can say is that it sounds jazzy

Arise by Sepultura
May 06 2024

Metal music is the genre I feel like most unfamiliar with, I know really nothing about it, but trought this challenge I'm really trying to give it a fair try, at least I'm hoping that I'm finding the the cream of the crop. I'm still not sure what I think about this though… but sure there’s more to metal than just this, I guess this one just isn't my thing. Oh but the fact that this one’s from Brazil is pretty cool

Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout
May 29 2024

I know Prefab Sprout from their 2003 album "I trawl the megahertz" which is one of my favorite albums of all time. I just didn't look into more of their discography because I wasn't expecting anything similar. So now finally got a chance to listen to this, I do think they have unique sound, eventhough this wasn't my favorite, still quite enjoyable
