Popular Reviews

Moving Pictures by Rush

If you haven't already listened to this, I am so jealous that you get to listen to it for the first time. Put it on the best speakers or headphones you have access to, turn it up as loud as you can tolerate, and enjoy.

Savane by Ali Farka Touré

This is the stuff that's so far outside what I normally listen to that I'd never find it and ... if I never had, I'd be sad.

All Ratings (109)

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Feb 22 2024

Classic Rolling Stones, better than Let It Bleed

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Feb 23 2024

Good album, better than Rolling Stones!

Who's Next by The Who
Feb 26 2024

good album, good band

Stephen Stills by Stephen Stills
Feb 28 2024

quality, not all that interesting. Stills is good but this record won't be on repeat

Damaged by Black Flag
Mar 13 2024
Electric by The Cult
Mar 14 2024

The Cult is a really solid rock band, and this is no exception. It's not Top 10, but it'll get a re-listen.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Mar 15 2024

Decent! Sounds like Kings of Leon

Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Mar 16 2024

It’s clear why Maps was the single.

Pelican West by Haircut 100
Mar 27 2024

80s epitomized. I think I'd heard some of these songs before but I had never actually heard the name of the group.

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Apr 02 2024

Effing classic. This is classic rock, amazing.

Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
Jan 15 2025

Pretty good ... he's got a very definite sound which isn't my favorite, but is definitely talent, and this earlier incarnation I like better than the later stuff.

The Slider by T. Rex
Jan 16 2025

Definitely good! T. rex has a pretty unique sound and I like it.

All Directions by The Temptations
Jan 17 2025

Very good, very different from what I thought of in my head when I think of the Temptations. Love it!

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Jan 18 2025

Very good, and Dusty is classic!

Jan 20 2025

I think this era in music gets a fair amount of "hate it or love it" type responses, so I guess this is a "love it" response. Very good album.

Savane by Ali Farka Touré
Jan 24 2025

This is the stuff that's so far outside what I normally listen to that I'd never find it and ... if I never had, I'd be sad.

Imagine by John Lennon
Jan 25 2025

I cannot describe how much I loathe the Beatles and John Lennon.

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Jan 28 2025

Really good ... There are some very good, deep songs on here, tons of great beats, and a couple that were a little too pop for me.

Fun House by The Stooges
Jan 29 2025

Definitely a sound I like. I did note that the whole album has a pretty consistent sound, so listening to it back to back feels a bit repetitive.

Jan 30 2025

Really good, but not my style. I'd definitely listen to it in a playlist, but I don't see myself listening to the album on it's own.

Ragged Glory by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jan 31 2025

Bloody amazing, as all Neil Young & Crazy Horse is.

Smash by The Offspring
Feb 01 2025

Best album ever

Rio by Duran Duran
Feb 02 2025

Very 80s, good, not entirely my vibe. Reminds me of a John Hughes movie.

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Feb 05 2025

Honestly ... eh. It's weird, because I know that a huge number of musicians - including musicians I like - cite SATB as an inspiration, but this was a very meh album to me.

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Feb 06 2025

Great live album from a great band

Next by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Feb 07 2025

This album sucks. Like, suuuuuuuucks.

Low by David Bowie
Feb 11 2025

I still can't find the appeal of David Bowie.

The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
Feb 13 2025

This is a weird one for me. There's definitely some commonalities in sound with things I like (My Morning Jacket, specifically), but I just don't love it.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Feb 15 2025

Really good! It's a sad story, too.

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly
Feb 16 2025

Better than I thought! I knew that one song, but the rest were all pretty good too.

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Feb 18 2025

Very, very good.

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Feb 20 2025

a m a z i n g If you're not into jazz, this is a phenomenal start. If you are into jazz, you should only be reading this review because you already know it's amazing and you're just making sure I didn't say something stupid.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Feb 21 2025

Very good! One song was definitely already familiar to me, probably from a movie?

Moving Pictures by Rush
Feb 23 2025

If you haven't already listened to this, I am so jealous that you get to listen to it for the first time. Put it on the best speakers or headphones you have access to, turn it up as loud as you can tolerate, and enjoy.

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Mar 01 2025

It took a while (lol, because it's a long album) to figure out why this didn't lock in for me. It's all very technically competent - no question, these are very proficient musicians - but it's like music for music nerds. Like, yeah, they're doing Good Musical Techniques, but it somehow falls short of Good Music, because it's ... boring. It's showing off.

Abbey Road by Beatles
Mar 04 2025

The Beatles suck.

1977 by Ash
Mar 07 2025

Very 90s, not very notable

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Mar 10 2025

Johnny Cash is the original punk rocker.

Bright Flight by Silver Jews
Mar 12 2025

I cannot overemphasize how bad this is. That singer, those lyrics ... terrible.

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Mar 14 2025

Pretty good album. Has a definite 90s vibe.

Be by Common
Mar 16 2025

Amazing.

In Utero by Nirvana
Mar 19 2025

Not my favorite album by Nirvana, but a very good one.

21 by Adele
May 01 2026
Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo
Jun 19 2026
Sulk by The Associates
Jun 21 2026

Very stereotypically 80s. Not my thing.

Olympia 64 by Jacques Brel
Jun 22 2026

I really tried. This has a very classic sound, and if I were a different person, I could see why it's on the list. I can't do it, though.

B-52's by The B-52's
Jun 23 2026

It's the B-52s.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jun 24 2026

Sabbath as usual.

Come Find Yourself by Fun Lovin' Criminals
Jun 26 2026

I get that there's an interesting idea here, but it is unfortunately poorly executed. This one's a nah for me, dawg.

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Jun 27 2026

A great album by a great artist. Even if you don't like country, this is easy to appreciate.

Haunted Dancehall by The Sabres Of Paradise
Jun 28 2026

Decent dancey electronicy stuff. I wouldn't turn it off, probably!

Transformer by Lou Reed
Jun 29 2026

Credit where credit is due, it led to "Can I Kick It?" ... but other than that, it's not that interesting. Is that the sound of an angle grinder in the first track?

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Jul 01 2026

It's not my favorite CSNY, but it IS CSNY. A very good album.

Technique by New Order
Jul 03 2026

Really great 80s album.

Dookie by Green Day
Jul 04 2026

Fantastic pop punk!

Roots by Sepultura
Jul 05 2026

Heavy. Not my favorite heavy band, but a definite classic by one of the greats.

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jul 08 2026

Baaaaaanger. Probably their best? Amazing band.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Jul 09 2026

I am no fan of the Beatles. ... but I didn't hate this. It's pretty good.

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Jul 11 2026

Jack White is always good, but this is more middle of the road to me than Great. It's good. I would listen to it again. I don't know that I would go search for it to listen to it.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Jul 14 2026

Definitely different, definitely good.

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
Jul 15 2026

The first song had big Public Enemy('s hits) energy, and I liked it! The rest of the album was not great.

Heartattack And Vine by Tom Waits
Jul 17 2026

It's Tom Waits. I always enjoy it, it's always weird.

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Jul 22 2026

Solid Gold. A classic.
