Red Rain feels like an end credits freeze frame from an 80s movie where the Main Character is walking down the center of the road in the rain and jumps with their legs in the air as the credits roll. Not bad, very 80s. Sledgehammer is a designated "Walking" song. If I lived in NYC I would totally walk, sandwich in hand, listening to this song - and love every bit of it. Don't Give Up- makes me want to give it all up. I feel like this song would go hard if I was Christian, but alas I am not. That Voice Again-utterly 80s, background music for me. Mercy Street-No Mercy for Mercy Street (I don't like melancholic/slow 80s songs.) Give me that sweet sweet juicy nectar of synthesizers, electronic instruments, catchy melodies and even catchier back-up vocalists this is what I breathe. Big Time- Did exactly what I asked for when I started listening to this album. Gave me zazz, gave me exaggerated 80sness, gave me life. We Do What We're Told (Milgram's 37)-This song is peak existentialism, and I'm here for it. BUT NOT after the song 'Big Time' you're really sending me into a thought provoking orbit after making me listen to "BIG TIME!" get a grip. no. This Is The Picture (Excellent Birds)-Is a nice song to play if you're doing something that does require your attention. In Your Eyes- Is giving your local Church's 'concert' Friday. Once you get over that obstacle, the song is pretty enjoyable. I was already familiar with this album but hadn't listened to it through yet. Genesis- reminds me of a daft punk song, a nice refreshing beat Let There Be Light- not a fan, beat is repetitive and feels like it builds up to nothing new or pleasing to listen/follow along to D.A.N.C.E- Already familiar with this song, love it, love the upbeat backing track and nod to Michael Jackson Newjack- classic techno beat can zone out/do art to Phantom- banger, nice electronic sounds, easy to put on in background and vibe Phantom II- a really good listen when paired with Phantom, similar song a bit more of a build up that continues from previous song, has more different instruments/additions to this song over Phantom. Valentine- farrrr forgettable The Party-nice sample, lyrics and back track DVNO- already knew this song, I really like the bridge/chorus Stress- another hype techno instrumental Waters of Nazareth- ye is okay One Minute to Midnight- a good chill song to end on, upbeat and still fitting with the rest of the album's style Top 3: 1-D.A.N.C.E 2-The Party/DVNO 3-Phantom II/One Minute to Midnight Rating a 2 because I think there are better albums equivalent to Cross' genre. But there are some nice songs in here, especially the ones that aren't just instrumentals.

1-Black Mirror I really love the sound of the occasional piano chords in the background in this song. The change to female vocals and then back to male vocals in the song is really well done, keeps the song fresh and not repetitive. 2-Keep The Car Running This song screams “walk of shame” to me, I can imagine coming home from the club and listening to this song, good song for the right circumstances. 3-Neon Bible Not my favourite so far in this album but is also a nice song for melancholy moods. 7- The Well and The Lighthouse This song feels like what a daydream is 8-(Antichrist Television Blues) This song really suits the lead’s voice, the guitar and drums really brings out the rock genre that suits the lead vocals. Not a huge fan of the subject matter/lyrics but has definitely trumped tracks 4,5,6 in this album. 10- No Cars Go The instrumental with the bass guitar at around ~2:10 and ~3:00 is a nice listen and really redeems the song for me, definitely one of my favourites from this album. 11-My Body Is A Cage Really grandiose instrumentals on this song, very theological. This is like if Radiohead were Christian, and it works super well. ——————————————————————— 4-Intervention Really didn’t like the heavy church elements in this song (orphan, bells) When the song picked up to chorus I started to like this song, but then I didn’t- it’s too “Whiney” for me, this is possibly due to the monotonous nature of the vocals in this track and how it feels like there is no “build up” or variety in the melody(?) 5- Black Wave/Bad Vibrations Song started off good, reminded me of the B-52s, but then it got too “Whiney” for me again 6-Ocean of Noise I would love this if I actually liked the lead singer’s voice. I like the background music but not his voice (I think his voice lacks personality and distinction.) 9- Windowsill Had to skip this song, I don’t like the first 2 minutes of it, after that when it picks up it does get better but I can’t add this song to my playlist if I can’t stand to hear the first two minutes. I don’t like the repetitive nature of the lyrics (“I don’t” x50) not my style. My Top 3: My Body is A Cage Black Mirror No Cars Go
