Deloused in the Comatorium
The Mars VoltaI tried really hard not to enjoy it but I failed because I enjoyed it immensely
I tried really hard not to enjoy it but I failed because I enjoyed it immensely
I mean it's alright? But REM has just never really resonated with me all that much
"I'm totally not a pop girlie," I say, as I reflexively rate this a 5/5
The melodrama! The dancing! THE FEELINGS. I thought I wasn't into ABBA before this and I was wrong.
It's motherfucking Pet Sounds
This was neat and the influences are all over, but I think this isn't exactly something I'll reach for again.
The whole album is a vibe, bop after bop. The Go-Gos have such an immediately identifiable sound, which I love, but it's a tad one-note (to my ears at least) after long enough
Good, reminds me of why I like Aerosmith without sticking around long enough to remind me I'm lukewarm on Aerosmith. Back In The Saddle is a killer album opening
Cowboys and Angels is so beautiful. I enjoyed it but will admit I didn't find most of it particularly memorable. I might try and revisit it
I enjoyed it alright
There were parts of this album I enjoyed a lot (the opening tracks!) - but there are a lot of aspects that I enioyed but kind of blended into the background a bit. I'm probably going to revisit it eventually but it scratches a certain singer-songwriter itch for me
I still hate "Girls" and I can only listen to 10-15 minutes at a time before I begin to hate it and need to take a break But damn it I still had a great time
Adored everything about this. It made me very emotional. The variety and layers to this really got me. I'm going to want to dedicate time to dig deeper into this.
I enjoyed it but nothing really stuck out to me
I really enjoyed the vibes on this album.
Loved this. Did not expect to vibe with it the way I did but halfway through it all clicked.
I enjoyed it but Phil Collins' voice has just never really done it for me. Some phenomenally trippy stuff here, really nest instrumentals for sure
Fun, easy listening, nothing that totally blew me away
If I want to listen to something with this kind of sound I'd rather reach for Bowie or The Kinks.
It's Deep Purple, I just can't help myself
When I first started driving, I used to listen to Sultans of Swing on repeat with the windows down while I was driving down mountain roadways in the summer evening. This whole album takes me mentally to that place.
The naming of the tracks on this album is absolutely inspirational
I can intellectually appreciate Common, but this album felt like a slog to me.
I enjoyed it but it didn't blow me away
I love early Coldplay and I'll never apologize for it
I'm always going to be obsessed with Billie Holiday and this is why
Honestly as much as I love The Beatles this album just doesn't really do it for me
I enjoyed this less than the other stuff of Neil Young's I've listened to
This whole era of pop is so nostalgic for me and man Aguilera has a hell of a voice, but this album was about three times as long as necessary imho
This one was really fun, love the vocals and the whole sound and vibe.
I think I just fundamentally don't get shoegaze
This was a fun listen, I can vibe with it
I enjoyed this a lot because I love this sort of detached Americana vibe. Something about it also reminds me of Ween's 12 Golden Country Greats and I can't quite place why
I love sadboi music but this didn't really click with me. Maybe I'll give it another go eventually but this didn't really make me feel anything.
Killer album. It's bops all the way down.
I mean it's alright? But REM has just never really resonated with me all that much
Unparalleled bluesman guitar wankery, I'll never not be obsessed
I tried really hard not to enjoy it but I failed because I enjoyed it immensely
If I would ever be into this album at any point in my life it would be right now, and it just didn't land with me until the very end when it started to click. Real conflicted on this one.
The perfect album to blow out some speakers to. Miss you Jr
Lots of interesting stuff on this one, and I've always enjoyed that noir sort of thing Nick Cave has going on. As with a lot of double albums though, I think it could have been pared down a lot
Help I'm a rock
Super fun, guitar virtuoso stuff, v groovy
Killer album
A perfectly enjoyable Bob Dylan album
I like The Doors but tbh they really just make me want to listen to the blues
"I'm totally not a pop girlie," I say, as I reflexively rate this a 5/5
Super fun, super funky, I loved the harmonies and enjoyed this album a lot
Legendary producer, totally bonkers noise rock edgyboy stuff. Musically it blew my mind but man I was not ready for some of the lyrical content and I'm not totally sure how comfortable with it I am
The horn-like synth on Krazy Krush is good beyond belief, but oh my God this album is so early 2000s it hurts
This is that sort of sadboi music that I vibe with
I can't deny that there aren't some total bangers on this album, but man I just can't stand the skits
Every now and again one of these songs hits it out of the park but I'm kinda lukewarm on the project as a whole
Some neat experimental stuff here but I don't think most of it was really my thing.
Okay this kind of blew my mind. Loved everything about this.
Legendary album. I can see why this album has been sampled to hell and back by everyone since.
I think it's interesting, I think Talking Heads was important and groundbreaking for the history of music, etc etc but at the end of the day I just didn't enjoy listening to this that much.
There's some interesting stuff there and I can see why this would have been huge in the early 70s
It's albums like this that make me really love this whole project, because I 100% would have never heard about this otherwise. Not my usual thing at all but I definitely dig it
I am so sick of all the British rock on this list. But it was alright
Super weird - this is the archetypal psychedelic rock band imo. Not super my thing but a very fun listen nonetheless
I'm pretty sure I gave this a whole extra star because it's summer right now and I'm all about the vibe in a way that I would decidedly not be in winter
I'm just not that into the white stripes I think
Was kind of fun, not really my thing though and not much stood out to me
I enjoyed this more than I expected to
I tried with this album but it just didn't land with me
I really don't know why I've been avoiding radiohead for years, this slaps
This was super fun
Some of the samples were really fun and I'm obsessed with the sloshy hi hat samples but most of this just doesn't hit my ear right
Best bdsm synthwave album of all time from the best bdsm synthwave band of all time, imo
I've got a soft spot for those early Elvis recordings and that whole Sun Records sound
I not only hated this album, I'm also now wondering if I ever really liked The Talking Heads, either
It was fine, but I'm unlikely to seek it out again
JAZZ
I enjoyed a lot of it, don't get me wrong, but if it had been half the length I still would have enjoyed it just as much.
You can hear the charisma through the microphone. I adored everything about this
Kind of fun but I'd rather listen to Bowie tbh
If the song "Ice Cream Man" didn't exist this album may have gotten another star
The title track makes me cry without fail every time
Fun and super listen able
Unsettling, melancholy vibes. Never seen the film. I enjoyed it alright
It's a vibe
I just really didn't like this
I enjoyed this quite a bit more than I expected to, I dig the sound
Bops on bops
I just can't stand anything about Elvis Costello
Meh
Not my favorite Beach Boys album but I've also been assured I'm wrong about this one so? I enjoyed the back half of this record way more than the front half, and I don't know what's up with Student Demonstration Time but I did not vibe with it
The guitars on Summer Breeze and That Lady are just phenomenal That Lady is like straight up pure 100% joy I love this album
Okay I normally hate double albums because I feel like they're usually bloated and contain a bunch of material that should have been cut, but oh my god everything on this is golden. It's a foundational album, been sampled to hell and back and for good reason. Absolutely a must-listen. This album will stay with me forever.
Kinds groovy at times but kinda whatever most of the time
GLOCKENSPIEL
Willie singing pop standards is a total novelty but it's a novelty I really enjoy
There are so many layers to this album and every time I listen to it I catch something new
It's a fun listen, jazz organ is a rare enough treat
It's got that detached indie rock kind of thing going on, which hits my brain in a pleasant sort of way. Reminds me of TV on the Radio a bit.
Fairies Wear Boots is low-key one of the best Sabbath songs I saw it and I tell you no lies
*Radiohead fanboying intensifies*
This was the first Rush album I ever heard in full and it made me stop and go "oh huh I guess these guys are more than just Tom Sawyer"
I love this era of 90s rock
I'm usually a bit of a Nirvana hater and talk about how I think they're overrated, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden are the only good grunge/Seattle sound bands, etc etc, but re-listening to this album really reminded me of just how damned iconic it all is so I may need to reevaluate my stance
I enjoyed it alright, parts of it really hit hard
Girl, E-Pro, and Go It Alone are in my regular rotation. Love this album and listen to it all the time, but it's got a handful of skippable tracks (Broken Drum and Scarecrow don't do it for me) and it's not in my top 3 for Beck albums. It reminds me of Odelay but not all of the experimentation always lands quite right.
This album is special to me and only becomes more special to me over time. There's something so vulnerable about Cash here. This version of Desperado makes me cry. This version of We'll Meet Again makes me cry. It's all fantastic.
I hate the name of this album but I enjoy it otherwise
Fun dance music, probably won't listen to it again but it was fun to have on in the background.
She's the queen of soul, I can't help it
More detached indie rock, I can dig it
The first 6 tracks are back to back bangers, but the quality drops off so fast after that. And Blame Game still sucks. If it was just the first 6 tracks it would be a 5/5.
Super pleasant all around, interesting themes and lyrics and sublime steel guitar
I enjoyed this so much
I thought this album was super dated
Landmark album and a classic
I enjoy this album a lot and it's a total vibe but so many of the songs just slide off of me for me to consider it a 5/5.
Love TVOTR and I enjoy this album very much, but this isn't my favorite album of theirs
This album doesn't do it for me as much as Nevermind does tbh
Most of the songs blend into each other although I still like New Year's Day. Far from my favorite U2 album
Some iconic songs on here but the rest of the album is just ok
