1001 Albums Summary

I actually have this in my collection, but it has been a while since I have listened to it. All the reasons to love BB: the understated yet soulful guitar, the powerful vocals on lyrics such as “ I gave you seven children, and now you want to give them back” Is it wrong to smile when listening to the blues

The musicianship of Black Sabbath can get lost in the hype. The lyrics and subject matter are the weak link, for me.

Aggressive dance/synth music, at least the majority of the songs. I don’t have many opportunities to utilize it as a soundtrack. if I needed to let out my aggression, this would do. There are few lyrics, and even fewer I can understand detract from my enjoyment of the beat.

Well done. Enjoyed the grooves, beats and overall vibe.

Paul Simon is an amazing songwriter and this album is one of many that illustrates this fact. His ability to incorporate a variety of musical influences is in its infancy on this album. This is a taste of what is to come.

Joni Mitchell is a talented musician, singer and songwriter. Her ability to intertwine her unique blend of musical stylings and meaningful lyrics stand the test of time.

Not a fan, the overall tone is very melancholy. While I have more of an appreciation for the lyrics, it’s not for me.

I have to say that while it is a good album, I didn’t find anything particularly original or inspiring about it.

While I am a fan, there are at least two albums in his catalog that I would put ahead of this one. One of which came out before Darkness on the Edge of Town.

The energy and talent on this album is insane. The reminders throughout, that it is a live recording only reinforces the level excellence.

An enjoyable quirky and melodic album

The Edge’s distinctive guitar sound, and the rest of the band make the album as powerful now as it was when I first discovered it

The album while pleasant isn’t a stand out to me. While I didn’t turn it off (I listened to it on repeat) I didn’t feel the need to turn it up.

Not a fan. As I was trying to get through the album , I kept thinking I am definitely not the target audience and was glad the songs were brief.

It isn’t just anyone who could combine strings, horns, electric guitar, harmonies and cow bell and produce such enjoyable results.

Pleasant grooves to help you get through the day

Yet another album on this list that the subject matter and lyrics outweigh any enjoyment one could gain from the music.

More misogyny, but I can still enjoy “No Sleep to Brooklyn”

One of the best albums ever recorded!

While I am a fan of The Cure, I am not sure why this album is on this list.
