Fun, had some songs I’ve heard before
Surprisingly fun, a genuine bop
I liked it more than I thought I would, it was less metal and more rock than I was expecting. But there were a lot of very long instrumental segments which I was not very into. It’d be good to add a song or two to the Halloween playlist
Boring and hurt my head
I just don’t like songs without lyrics. Feels too elevators to me. I think the tunes are great and would love it if it had some words to it
I am very into Johnny Cash it turns out. He’s just fun, with stories in all of his songs
It’s hard to say, the songs honestly feel like jokes a little bit because I’ve heard so many parodies of this type of rap. It is actually pretty fun though, and has No Sleep til Brooklyn and Girls and a couple other familiar songs
Fine. Jazz, no lyrics, nothing super exciting
Actually very fun. The band’s vibe gives kinda like One Republic/Mice and Men vibes. Every man looks like some character actor. The music is also sorta a funkier Of Mice and Men. I’d say the songs kind of all blend together, but not in a bad way
Very listenable. Not as poppy as I tend to like but fun. I could definitely get into some of the songs if I listened regularly
Great! Some songs that I have heard before, most notably Father Figure, and then some fun songs that sound familiar but not exactly like songs I know. Then a couple of more boring songs that are just ok. Overall into it
Not bad. Very listenable but nothing I was super excited about. Kinda like you can just bop your head along and sing along a little
More like 3.5. It was rocky and fun. Josh said like dive bar vibes and I agree. I’m into it in theory
Another listenable one with nothing that I loved. Working Class Hero was nice, I’d be fine with the album as background music
More like 3.75 I think
I quite liked it. Definitely feels like mom and dad‘s music but music that I can get into. Some of it felt a little bit like the same sort of stories as the Johnny Cash songs. I liked some songs more than others, but it was fun and folksy.
3.5 I quite liked a few of the songs, kinda an indie alt vibe. Some of the songs played with tempo and vibes, like up and down, and some were just a little too weird
I’ll admit I judged a book by its cover here and assumed I wouldn’t like it. I was mostly right, but it was a little better than I thought it would be. There were some kinda nice songs, but a lot of just instrumental stuff and some weird sounds and long pauses between songs where you’re not sure if it’s still playing. I guess it would work as background music for getting work done
Awful. This is what I was worried the Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark would be. Just instrumental, with some weird sounds, and like 10 min songs that all just sound like background music
Gotta be honest I thought I’d like it more. It had a weird “song” of just old people talking, and just in general more weirdness than I go for. It has Mrs. Robinson on it though, which I like, and one or two other songs that I sorta knew and like
I mostly liked it, although part of me feels like I’m just supposed to like it. It has two songs I knew, including the one that goes “I’m happy, feeling glad” and those are good, along with some others. There’s somewhat of a range of sounds in their songs. Overall I’d listen again but not on repeat
It’s not on Spotify and that’s fine. It’s ridiculous and pretty unpleasant
3.5
Cuban music in Spanish. Very fun, jazzy and upbeat. A couple songs without words, but most had words and made me feel like I was back in a restaurant in Costa Rica. Would be good to do work with it in the background
Idk, fine just kinda boring. Nothing I hated, but nothing I loved
I liked it a lot. Feels like the 90s. It has Stand which is great of course, and some other bops
2.75
It’s jazz. Definitely more fun jazz, but still mostly no words. If it was hold music I’d be seriously bopping along, but I want words when I choose my music. There’s a theme song on the album, and it sounds like it. Fun but not for me
I really liked this! It feels like a little Mountain Goats like, and had a song about North America I loved
2.5
Definitely music for people who are high. There are some sounds and some very discordant singing, but there were a couple songs I actually liked, including The Minotaur’s Song, which starts exactly the same as Pink Pony Club weirdly. Weird but kinda fun
I liked it enough. It feels like easy listening. I wanted to like it more because it’s the first one I’ve seem from the 2020s, but it was just ok. Feels like something someone cooler than me would put on at a party and I’d be ok with. The album itself had speaking sections in between each song, which I didn’t love, but I guess I’m kinda warming up to those things
2.4
Way lower tempo and less metal than I thought. Idk, honestly it was just kinda boring to me.
Method Man is a member of the Wu-Tang clan, and this is pretty much what I imagined the Wu-Tang Clan would sound like. I liked it, it was fun and had some good lines
It’s not on Spotify, which is annoying, but other versions of the songs are. It’s fun and silly and kinda electronic and dancy. I thought the song “Justified and Ancient” sounded like it was about timelords, so I looked more into the band and discovered they also go by the name The Timelords and did the song Doctorin’ the Tardis. So that’s very fun
It’s a Christmas album, so that kinda limits it. It has all the classic songs, and they’re very good, but it’s still simply a Christmas album. Good for 2 weeks
Loved it. So sing along-able. I knew a bunch of them, and now I know more of them. I put half the album in my liked songs playlist. Hell yeah
I weirdly like it. It definitely feels dated, there are some slurs and very outdated ways of thinking, and the sound of it feels old, like classic crooner/your grandma’s favorite singer. But the songs are pretty fun, and weirdly the most offensive ones are kinda the catchiest. Idk, I wouldn’t play it with people around, but there’re some bops
I really liked the first few songs, and then the rest were kinda boring. It’s a little folksy and a little balad-y but upbeat and fun. The later stuff is fine, but less interesting. The second song kinda sounds like Cat’s in the Cradle
2.6
I really liked the title track, others were ok, the album was like the epitome of just rock (no modifier). I hated the final song which was just shitty guitar? Overall ok
Kinda liked it. Some of the songs were boppy, I could get into them, some were slow and boring. It’s a background music that I enjoyed. Chill and vibe-y
Too slow to warrant a band name like Supertramp. It’s fine, but not what I was expecting. Kinda boring
Ok, nothing standout, nothing offensive. The album cover kinda gives me vibes of those bands that you know their name but aren’t sure which songs they sing like Arctic Monkeys or Imagine Dragons. The songs are very low-key, like Coldplay but no anthems. Good for background music. My one issue is the last song has a “hidden track” which is accomplished by just having like a 3 minute silence before another song starts. I think that’s silly and annoying, so it takes it down a peg
I actually didn’t hate it quite as much as I thought I would. It’s slow and experimental and in Icelandic, but it works for like a chilly day background music. I certainly wouldn’t choose it, and honestly didn’t finish it, but it wasn’t the worst album on here
Idk, all the songs kind of sound the same, except when they are super different. Some of it reminds me of like the band from Music and Lyrics/80s synth pop, one of the songs kinda sounds like Don’t you Forget About Me. Those are kinda fun, though a little less dancey than those. But then other songs have weird breathing and are just kinda boring. I’d listen to some parts again
2.5/it’s jazz but like a 4 for jazz
Honestly, for jazz I was pretty into it. It had a few lyrics here and there, not in English, but it was upbeat and I found myself bopping my head along to it. I could definitely do some cleaning to this music. I’m between giving it a 2 since it’s jazz and a 3 since it’s groovy
I liked it. It felt kinda punk-y, though I don’t know that that’s how others would describe it. I’d say like a slightly more punk Oasis. It’s like music for when you’re a little down and want something on your level
Some of it sounds a little Alanis Morissette-y, but not in a bad way. Also kinda gave me Indigo Girls vibes, though not quite as fun. I liked a couple of the songs, could take or leave others, but didn’t dislike any and didn’t love any. The one song I knew was “River” which is kind of a Christmas song (goes “I wish I had a river I could skate away on”)
I listened to this one a few times because I wasn’t paying attention. I didn’t love it on first listen, but it grew on me. You can really hear his British accent come through, and it feels a little like he could’ve been a Beatle in their slower songs. It’s chill and a little melancholy/bittersweet. Good for that vibe
I’ve listened to this a bunch of times now, because I can’t decide exactly what to say about it. I like it, it had a couple song I know, and some very fun songs. I didn’t love every song, but some were very fun. “Queen Bitch” has a line that inspired the chorus of Mr. Brightside, and I discovered this on my own!
3.75
I like some of it, chill rock, some songs feel similar to other bands of the same era (‘68), like Traffic and The Band and some of The Rolling Stones songs. Only issue is that the songs I like the sound of are really long (like 6 mins), which is kinda annoying. Maybe some if their other albums would work better for me
It’s a live album of jazz standards. It’s from the 50s and sounds like it. I wanted to like it more, because I always say I’d like jazz if it had words and this is jazz with words. I did like it, but I didn’t love it. It had “Just One of Those Things” and that was fun, but I was kinda just wishing it was the Jamie Cullum version
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. It’s fun rock, and there are a few very folksy songs. Overall a great bop. Mom will be very happy
2.6
From the 90s, and I’d say it feels like it. It’s a little rap, more electronic. Chill beats, but also a lot of songs without lyrics, and the songs are mostly very long. Can definitely bop along, but I wish there were more words
Probably more like 3.75, but I quite liked it. It’s rock, feels like something mom would listen to. A couple bops, a couple slightly odd ones but none that are too super weird
The lyrics are kind of cool and alt, but it feels like they focused too much on the lyrics and not enough on the music. Also, it’s sort of hard to hear the lyrics because they don’t enunciate and the instruments are comparatively loud. It feels a like an unrefined Panic! but not really good.
Jazzy and poppy and pretty fun but chill. I like it
I like it! Feels like it should be in the movie Juno. Some folksy songs, some indie songs, like Neutral Milk Hotel
It’s a 3 for what it is, but in general probably more like a 2. Cool, but not my vibe. It’s like hip hop electronica, meets musical recording meets sound track meets meow wolf music. It is strange and kinda fun but not exactly what I want. Lots of songs without lyrics, but it works for it
I like it. Sounds similar to a lot of the other late 60s rock, and I quite enjoy this one. It has the song The Weight, which I knew and enjoyed. I’d definitely listen to more
3.8
Feels kind of similar to Entertainment by Gang if Four in that it’s got fun political lyrics that I can’t really hear because they’re not enunciated and the music falls a little by the wayside for the lyrics. The lyrics are a bit more relevant since it’s two decades more recent, and the sound is a little more fun, so it’s better, but not amazing. It reminds me of Green Day, and I think maybe if I had listened to them when I was young I’d like it a lot. Also a different album of theirs came on after and I liked it quite a bit, so maybe I’d like their other or newer stuff. Also the album cover art made me think it was gonna be really weird and experimental, so I was pleasantly surprised
I didn’t really like it. There was maybe one song I could bop along to, and the rest ranged from fine to a little headache-y and weird sounds. Not all the way to bad experimental, but not good
Not quite what I thought it would be. Less alt and more standard 90s rock. I quite like most of it, a few songs are a miss but others make up for it. I can definitely bop/sometimes sing along, I’d listen to more of them
Some I really don’t like, some sound exactly like the Beatles, which kinda makes sense because it’s another ‘69 album. Also a fair number of wordless songs, which brings it down. The ones that sound like the Beatles (especially Melody Fair) though really grew on me on second listen, so that evens it out.
The British Opera sounds like a song in like Harry Potter or something. I can’t quite place it but it’s in a movie
I feel like this sounds like what I mean when I say “Rock music.” It’s something you can groove too, but not too hard. I didn’t absolutely live it, there’s one instrumental song, and the songs are on the longer edge, but I’m kinda into them anyway. There’s one very spooky sounding song that I added to my Halloween playlist
2.5
Some really fun groovy beats, but almost completely without lyrics and like 13 min songs. Idk, if I needed lyric-less music for something upbeat at some point this would work well but when do I need that
Fine rock, but nothing I really loved. Nothing I hated, it just wasn’t super attention grabbing
This one feels like what I think of when I hear “metal.” The songs kind of all sound the same a little bit, but they’re good. I definitely played some of them on guitar hero
It sounds pretty much what I expected Sinatra to sound like. Old and classic. The rhyme scheme is interestingly simple. It’s enjoyable and slow, not my favorite thing to listen to, but pretty nice. His voice is quite nice, unsurprisingly
Hell yeah, bangers. It’s got Witchy Woman, which I already like from my Halloween playlist, but the other songs are like all bops too
More like 3.9
The first song is so long and the first half of it is just instrumental. After getting through that though they’re bops. Kinda reminds me of Billy Joel. Also I’ve finally listened to Candle in the Wind, which is a good song
3.5
Feels like fake rap again. The songs are actually very fun and funky. The song Looking for the Perfect Beat sounds a little built like DFTBA, which is fun. I was bopping along, it’s just kinda hard to get over how it sounds like a parody. But it’s so fun that I think I could if I kept listening
Jazzy, funky, fun. It isn’t something I would’ve thought I’d like but I was bopping along, and even singing along with one I listened to a couple times
I liked the first couple a lot, they sounded kinda like Peter Gabriel or like a lot of other British artists of the time, but then the later ones became slower and more instrumental, so those brought it down. Maybe other albums of his would be better
Quite like it. It’s like alt pop. Fun, upbeat, sing along-able, pretty good lyrics. From the early 90s, so seems like my time stuff. After listening to the album a couple times and starting to like it I discovered he’s super racist and a general asshole. So that sucks. But I still quite liked the music. He’s the lead singer of the Smiths, so maybe I’ll like that a lot when it comes up
I think I quite liked it. The songs kind of all sound the same, but I like them so it works. They’re a little whiny, indie vibes. The album had a bunch of alternate versions of the same songs on it, which kind of annoys me, but they’re at the end so that’s ok
Honestly kinda loved it. The lyrics were fun and cool and interesting and pretty distinct, hearable words. This is what I imagine rap to be, which makes sense since this is from the 90s. I listened to it on headphones while walking home and felt very cool. There is one very questionable song about date rape that I think I’d just have to choose to ignore, but otherwise the songs are bangers. I’d listen to more
Not into it. Just kinda yell-y, indistinct lyrics and not particularly fun melodies. Bjork is the lead vocalist of this band, so that’s kinda interesting. They’re Icelandic
More like 2.5
I wanted to like it because she did a protest thing on SNL that she was panned for, but it was just kinda mostly slow and boring or long and baleful. I read some stuff about her, and she’s pretty interesting as a person. There were a couple good songs, but not enough to overcome the boring stuff
Fun, chill modern rap. She’s British so it’s fun to hear the accent in the rap. This is one of the most recent albums so far and I like that it feels current. One of the songs was in the movie Venom
Initially I thought I’d like it more. She obviously has a great voice, and the songs were good, but I didn’t super love any of them, even the songs I knew, it turned out I only knew like one line from it. But after a couple of listens it really grew on me, especially listening to the lyrics closer
3.5
I much preferred this album over Vol. 4, the other album of theirs I listened to. Feels a little closer to what I imagine metal to be, or more rock-y and fun. Still waiting for something to really feel like hard metal. I didn’t realize until reading, Black Sabbath is where Ozzy Osborn came from
1.6
This is what I think of when I hear “heavy metal.” This is crazy, death metal, just kinda yell-y over heavy bass. It’s interesting that people like it, and I guess I kind of don’t hate it? But I don’t enjoy it. I can respect that it commits to the satan worshiping craziness though
3.7
Smooth and cool. I like it, particularly two fun songs, but don’t love it. Good background like easy listening
Fine, fun enough beats, but no lyrics. Not really much to say beyond that
4.5
Irish drinking songs. Fun, crazy that there’s a whole album of them. Feels like I’m sitting in an Irish pub and it’s raining out and there’s a band in the corner. It would get a 5, but there a few instrumental songs
Very fun, boppy, short songs. Feels like the stuff fun people would’ve been listening to in the 50s. It begins with classic shout sing “Wababalula wababamboo!” and it all has that same vibe
I didn’t particularly like anything about it. Some songs might have been fine, but I don’t feel like listening again to form a more nuanced opinion. I mostly disliked or didn’t care about the songs.
