I never expected to listen to this album in its entirety. And I don't think I will actively choose to play it again. But it made nice background music while I did some housework.
My favorite song was Wrapped Around Your Finger
Not my style but I'm glad a I gave this album a chance. Every song blended the same for me. The only one that stood out for me was Slide Away but then it went on way too long. I felt some Beatles influences throughout the album which wasn't bad. Anyway, here's Wonderwall...wait never mind
I have mixed feelings with this album because I love the instruments but I can't stand the lyrics or voice! I also hate Jump because my old gym teacher used to play it at the end of every single class. I didn't know Van Halen was behind it.
I did not like this at all. I couldn't stand the long high notes in almost every song. But Blue was nice and moving.
I don't even listen to hip hop usually but this was dope! Smooth at times, jazzy, nice beats, and catchy. I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics because I wanted an overall listening experience, but I feel like next time it's a must.
It has good moments, and Christina Aguilera is a powerhouse singer no doubt about that. But overall this album is too packed it's just not enjoyable.
The first disc is probably the better sounding one for me even though it's mostly her givng ode to get inspirations. Then the last song on there with the fan voicemails is kinda creepy?
The second disc seems like it's more true to Christina's musical style, but it's just lame for me. I get tired of her yelly singing with the long switchy notes. But that's just me! Maybe I only appreciate her as a feature in other people's songs.
I had never heard of ZZ Top, and I loved this!
It was okay. Not bad, but not really something I would listen to
Meh. It just sounds 70s. It's not crap, but it just is what it is. I really only liked the closing track.
Very skipabble for me. The only song I liked was the opening track, and I had high hopes for the rest of the album but no
This is a gem! Everything about it is awesome and it makes for a solid debut so I'm surprised it didn't hit the mainstream. It made me look into Captain Beefheart and one of his other albums which I'm planning on listening to later. Overall, I'm happy I found this album. It's exactly my taste 💕
There are fun moments where I ALMOST want to dance lol. But it gets a little repetitive and I'm not a fan of the singing style. It falls a little flat for me. But the album is not terrible and I wouldn't turn it off, maybe just skip around. So far, Jack on Fire is pretty good!
This is tough because while I enjoyed the music on this album, I also found it bloated with different versions of the same songs.
Speaking on the quality of the music only, it was very nice! There are a couple where I really liked it because of the drums, and others I enjoyed the singing. I didn't know they were behind God Only Knows. I liked that song before and now I love it. It almost sounds sad hearing it this time around. I also enjoyed the instrumental tracks. They're a nice break.
I would listen to this album again, but probably skip the repeats or idk if they have a simplified version of the album. I'll have to check.
I liked this so much I'm going to keep Talking Heads in my rotation. This album was so easy to listen to as well. I can even hear where modern artists took inspiration from these songs.
I can't decide between a 3 and a 4. This was light, poppy, and concise. It kind of reminds me of The Bangles but I didn't like The Bangles.
I like the instruments a lot especially in Can't Stop the World, Lust to Love, and Automatic. There really isn't a bad song though. At worst, the choruses can get a little bit repetitive and the voice a little tiring, but I'm not hating. It's a quick listen, so there's no need to skip.
I can see this being so much fun in the 80s.
This album was like a little trip to another land and I had a good time there.
I like how short it is, it makes relistening easy and I can look for different things each time.
I noticed this is different from the rest of their stuff which is more Beatlesesque.
Also, I keep seeing comparisons to Bob Dylan, so hopefully I also enjoy his music. But anyway, I will actually be revisiting this album when I want to feel like I'm the protagonist in a little mystical adventure.
This album did not disappoint. Packed with talent in a short time frame from beginning to end. But I doubt I would listen to it again.
No thank you not a sound I enjoy listening to. You can tell this man is talented, dedicated, and passionate about his craft of music though. So props to him as well as the listeners that enjoy this music.
Perfect!!!! I'm not even a huge rap/hip hop listener, but this was great. The production takes me back to the early 2000s and it still sounds so good and soulful. I say this as a STEM major lol
Nice, easy listening, but could also make you want to dance. I enjoyed the tracks that mostly had drumming sounds and felt trance-like. Overall very good
Not really my jam. Reminds me of Van Helen a little bit.
Not for me. Bubble and Slide II sounded all right. Everything else is no. Kind of unsettling
Somehow I dislike this more the Blue
