Sail Away by Randy Newman
Jul 18 2025

Decent album, not resonating with me on a deeper level so far, may have to come back to it later. Maybe need to give the lyrics more attention. Have certainly connected more with other albums from this time period off the bat though. Likely will not be coming back more than once or twice. Overall all the songs are solid - nothing offensively bad or that I dont like, and is an enjoyable listen overall. Well arranged and produced (may be because I listened to the remaster) for its time, and I can see why it is on the list. Probably a solid 7/10 album, cant really find anything substantial to criticize but isn't quite captivating enough to warrant a higher score.

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
Jul 21 2025

great live blues rock album. really enjoy the guitar work, and will likely come back to it at some point. Can see why it is acclaimed. Something about the guitar tone/mixing makes it feel very "present". definitely feels live! Some killer long blues jams probably solid 8/10

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Jul 22 2025

Never been quite able to get into the cure Cant find enough in their songs to really latch onto - maybe it will click in the future. This album didnt really change my perception

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Jul 23 2025

Okay album - kind of just a classic, but there arent many memorable moments for me. Like the guitar tone on sharp dressed man. No bad songs though. Another 3/5

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

Rip ozzy! Really important album, and just crazy how early in the timeline of metal music they were writing this stuff. Personally i really enjoyed listening to it again - doesnt have any weak points, and has some really great songs, and incredible riffs (supernaut!!). Wish i could give a 4.5 out of 5 for the rating, as it definitely sits between 4/5 and perfect for me. But have to go with a very very strong 4/5.

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 25 2025

Not super familiar with their catalogue other than the main hits. Given that was a bit surprised with what they were doing sonically in some of the songs on this record (not in a bad way). Had a couple songs that i felt were quite good, but a few where i felt the production was a bit harsh (could just be the speakers i was listening on). Overall decent album with some highlights, but unlikely to come back to it much i think. Another 3/5.

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Jul 28 2025

Not the first time i have listened to this album, already kind of formed an opinion on it. Imo, first track is a bit hard to get into but as soon as you get to visions it is just hit after hit. Lush, bouncy, smooth sound. Great album, good candidate for a 4.5 stars if i could! But have to give it the 4 unfortunately, as it isnt quite in 5/5 territory - very close though!

Jul 29 2025

Fine album, some classics on it. Was pretty enjoyable, probably wokt listen to it front to back again though.

Very interesting sounding album! Kept me engaged the whole way through, didnt have any egregious weak points. Will have to come back to this - feel like it will only get better with more listens. Have to listen to more of his discog as well.

Home Is Where The Music Is by Hugh Masekela
Aug 01 2025

Really good album! Love the tone he gets out of the trumpet. I have dipped my toe into the jazz/jazz fusion waters a bit before, but never heard of this artist.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Aug 15 2025

Was dreading this one a bit, as the last time i listened i didnt really get it for all its critical acclaim. Not sure why!! Something clicked this time - what a beautiful album. Very good songwriting, and her vocals make it incredibly unique sounding. Does not overstay its welcome. Good first 5 star album

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Aug 18 2025

Was wondering when i was going to get a zep album Have a weak spot for them, as they marked the very beginning of my music journey. First band i listened to and really "got" music with.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

Very good album, some tracks that im glad i listened to but are pretty visceral and upsetting.

Kid A by Radiohead
Sep 16 2025

Good timing - have been listening to this album a ton lately. One of the top 5 radiohead albums, and is really a dark, moody, and introspective piece of art. Definitely another 5 star album in the books.

Dub Housing by Pere Ubu
Sep 17 2025

Honestly can appreciate what they are trying to do on this album, and can tell how their sound has influenced some contemporaries and bands that have come after, but after a couple listens it is still not really clicking for me personally. Some positive moments and cool music, but overall i dont think its something i would come back to.

The Bends by Radiohead
Sep 23 2025

More radiohead! Probably in my top 3 radiohead albums - up there with all the big ones. Another 5 likely

The College Dropout by Kanye West
Oct 29 2025

honestly came into this with an expectation to dislike it given who kanye is now, and previous experience with his music - unfortunately it was very good haha
