1001 Albums Summary

More of a tribe guy but this album is still class.

Basically a punk record put through a charming, British filter. On paper it could be awful but albarn and co created something distinctive, cohesive and at times hilarious. For me the pinnacle of Britpop. Girls and boys is timeless, this is a low is a lesser known masterpiece.

The hits hold up amazingly well but some filler on this. Good listen overall

The first main song and the last song hold up well but there is lots of uninteresting long tracks that go nowhere, slowly.

Amazing album about death and growing up. So much feeling here and ridiculous highs like wake up. Very high 4, just has always had a couple of skips for me.

Very uninteresting album - couldn't tell you what a single song sounds like. In terms of musicianship I've heard better pub bands.

It's good, benefits from a second listen. The production and mix let's it down big time. Vocals are very tame.

Man this album is a great listen. Evenflow, once and black go harder than most mainstream rock today. Some songs towards the end out stay their welcome

I hadn't heard of nick drake. I was utterly blown away by cello song, riverman, Mary Jane and the last 2 songs in a way I rarely am.

Like a 40min pleasant elevator ride

Mercifully, none of the songs are very long

It's more listenable than I thought it'd be. Some of the tracks lyrically would be embarrassing for a teenager to write.

Hatful of hollow and queen is dead are my preferred ones by the smiths. Last night I dreamt and stop me are amazing though

Some very big highs on this (common people, disco 2000, underwear) but can't say the perverted songs work for me. Aware he's doing a bit but they're not great

Alright, the songs are so short that the bad ones leave quickly but the good ones are also by in a flash. Not sure why they made it so long, the diversity of the songs (or lack of) does not warrant 40+ tracks

Very easy listen, first track is a vibe

I like Madonna but this album is not it. Some of the songs have awful lyrics and some of the performances are genuinely annoying, especially the painful whisper lyrics. 'what it feels to be a girl's was only okay track. The American pie cover confirmed the 1. Jesus Christ it's bad

Magnum opus of what I think is the goat rapper

The guitar and bass throughout this album are constantly surprising and inventive

Great high points on this record, I've always wished they'd just rock a bit harder though. The quieter songs can feel a bit lukewarm to say the least

Some good songs some meh

It sounds like a skeleton being thrown down the stairs which apparently I find surprisingly listenable
