A great album that I come back to time and time again. Macca knows how to write a good song.
Far too samey for my taste. A couple of good tracks, but not an album I would come back to.
A few good tracks, but not an album I would come back to in its entirety. I reckon The Boss has better albums, when listened to as they were conceived.
Such a good album. One I can come back to time and time again. So many hits, great vibes, and just an all round good album.
Just not my thing. In all honesty I didn’t even listen to the whole album because it annoyed me so much. Axl’s singing style just doesn’t work for me.
You can’t really go wrong with Crosby, Stills & Nash. Great album, but a bit more chill than I am drawn to for regular listening.
Not one I would have expected to like, but I was having a good boogie along to this one.
Absolutely not my kind of music. I can appreciate that Venom pioneered a sub-genre of music, but I am not their intended audience.
I really liked this one. In all honesty I did listen to it in three bites and probably would have found it a bit samey if I hadn’t, but it feels like a good little find that is now in my rotation.
Not my vibe. I won’t be rushing to listen to the album again, but I didn’t hate it.
Yikes! I would have been quite happy getting to my deathbed having never listened to this. Truly, truly awful.
A pretty solid Christmas album. Enough said.
A truly great album that I am ashamed to say I haven’t listed to in ages, despite having it in multiple forms. One to listen to again soon and make sure it is in my regular rotation.
Just not my thing. I didn’t enjoy this album at all.
I think this is the first time I have listened to Purple Rain all the way through. Some great songs, some truly weird, all experimental and interesting.
I honestly couldn’t decide whether I liked this album or not. At times I wanted to turn it off, at other times it washed over me as a beautiful cacophony of noise.
I always forget how much I like Supertramp. This was a good listen and a good reminder to play more of their music.
I don’t think I have ever listened to Badly Drawn Boy, but I should have. This was great!
Love of a bit of Iggy - this album is great!
This album is so, so plodding and samey. I get why other people like Metallica, they’re just not my thing.
This was great! Some fantastic tracks and I loved just floating away into the instrumentals as well.
A good, solid 90’s album. Not a regular rotation album, but a good reminder that I also like this more alternative end of the pop/rock spectrum.
I really enjoyed this. I don’t think I have ever listened to a jazz album, but I loved the organised chaos of this album.
A very underwhelming album. Not offensive, but almost instantly forgettable.
I actually enjoyed this, which surprised me. It transported me to a bar somewhere in middle America.
Unpopular opinion. I’m not much of a Radiohead fan. This album actually had a couple of good tracks to start with and then it was the same, dreary music as I expect from Radiohead.
I couldn’t get on board with this one. I’m not a fan of a lot of 80’s music in any case, but OMD doubled-down and played right into all of the 80’s stereotypes I don’t like with this album.
I enjoyed the first, (more bluegrassy?) song and may well listen to it again. Other than that, while I appreciate country music has an audience I don’t think it’s me.
Loved this! Probably enhanced by the fact it was a live album, but still a good listen.
I don’t think this was the best intro. to Willie Nelson. I couldn’t help listening to the songs thinking the originals are better.
I’m not sure what to say about this one. It was alright.
An enjoyable Damon Albarn creation. Not his best music, but would I listen to it again? Yes.
This was alright. Not my vibe, but more enjoyable than most 80’s music.
This album surprised me. I didn’t think I was a heavy metal fan in the slightest, not even a little bit, but I loved this album.
I’ve never heard of Elliott Smith, but this was a solid album. Not standout, but a few good tracks that I would come back to.
This was enjoyable enough to listen to, and I’m pleased I solved the mystery of why I recognized his voice, but I don’t think I will be listening to it again.
Sneaky little three-star, so I can see what today’s album is, and I will come back and listen to this one later.
A solid five stars for this one. Not a perfect album but incredibly good, a bloody fantastic debut album, and listening to the layers and wall of noise that is Oasis is my happy place.
This was a disappointment. I used to like Super Furry Animals, but either this album was a bit of a dud or my tastes have changed. An okay album, but I won’t be rushing back to listen to it.
A solid album and great to listen to again. Not one I will come back to soon (barring a few tracks) but I do enjoy a bit of Neil Young and Crazy Horse.
Still to listen to. I’ll come back and review this one later.
I do like The Police, but found this album a little monotonous. A couple of great tracks, but I’m not sure I’ll be rushing to put this album on again.
Almost a four star for the moment we were in listening to the album - it just fit so well. Not quite though. A little slow to be going on the regular rotation. I did enjoy it though and will be exploring more of Arcade Fire’s music.
This one surprised me. I’m not usually a fan of this kind of poppy, 80’s music, but I was in the zone for this one. Good vibes for the whole album.
Queen Latifah has a great voice and I love her in Chicago, but her music is not my vibe.
More enjoyable than I thought, but also totally unmemorable. I only listened to the album about an hour ago and no song or melodies are lingering.
Started off well with the first few tracks and a bit meh from there. I genuinely started off thinking this would be a four-star album and then just lost interest.
I quite enjoyed this album, but I don’t think I will ever listen to it again.
I can’t help but love this album. I listened to it many times in my teens and it feels like a warm hug from an old friend.
I love this album! It feels like a revelation and one I will definitely be listening to again and exploring more of. Patti Smith has such an awesome voice and such a wonderful way of playing with it. This album feels years ahead of its’ time.
Something a bit different and a few really enjoyable tracks, but not one I would comeback to.
This had the vibe of an only-okay Crowded House album. Very forgettable, but okay.
Hard to rate this one anything more than a two when Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew was so much better.
A big nope on this one. Just not enjoyable to listen to.
This album transported me to a dive bar in the early noughties - poor lighting, terrible lager in hand, a floor that you stick to as you walk, and the mist of pot in the air. I’m not sure if that was where they were intending on taking me, but it is where I found myself.
What a fun, fast, rollick of an album. I can’t believe I have never heard of Hüsker Dü. I’ll be checking out more of their albums for sure.
Is this the worst thing I have ever heard? No. The music itself is actually quiet catchy, but Morrissey’s voice is so dreary after a while.
Just not my thing. I know Mariah has her audience, but it isn’t me.
This album grew on me. I wasn’t too sure about it to start with, but I was drawn to listen to it all. It felt both familiar and ahead of its time, in equal measure.
A solid five star. I’m ashamed to say that I have never listened to this album and yet somehow I knew almost all of the songs. Such a good album and one I will very definitely come back to.
I didn’t think I knew much Van Morrison music, but turns out I was wrong. This album was a treat. I love the tones in Van’s voice.
Enjoyable, lots of of tracks I know, I will likely listen to it again, but it is not particularly memorable album and is unlikely to go in my regular rotation.
This album is okay, just perhaps not my era. I initially rated it a 3-star, as I will definitely listen to it again with Tim (it’s his era), but not one I will choose to listen to myself. Talking Heads have better albums.
It was interesting listening to something a bit different, but it felt like the album went on for a bit too long.
Hard to not give this album four stars. Great tracks! Thoroughly enjoyable! And it took me right back to my childhood, with the album being played on repeat in the car.
This was initially a two star album, but for one song that has now sat with me for days. I felt the haunting, fragile, and defiant tones of Nina Simone’s voice singing Four Women in the core of my being.
This was just a bit, meh! I really struggled to listen to the whole album. Just not my vibe.
Just two stars for this one. Stevie has a great voice and some great hits, but not on this album. I felt this album was lacking. A product of its’ time and not particularly memorable.
I thought this would be a 4-star album, because I listen to it all the time, but in the context of all of this amazing music it is only a 3-star. Catchy song:s that take me right back to my teens, but the vocals are not of the same caliber as many of the other artists I have been listening to through this list.
Another solid album from Arcade Fire. Not as good as Funeral, but very enjoyable. I need to explore more of their music.
A second stab at country music with this album and once again it’s not for me. Not terrible, but I find it all a bit repetitive and boring.
More experimental than some of their albums, but equally as dreary. I just can’t get on board with Radiohead - it’s such miserable, soul destroying music.
I liked this album a lot more than I was expected. I like his gravelly, older voice. And the original of Make You Feel My Love was fantastic! I’m ashamed to say I didn’t realised that was a Dylan song.
Great album and one I come back to time and time again. Is it their best album? No. Do I love it anyway? Absolutely.
This was great! A solid album that I will come back to and very nearly a 4-star album, because it introduced me to a completely new band. Until, that is, I listened to some more of XTC’s music. AVV1 is good, but not great like some of their earlier albums.
This album is so very meh! It reminds me of another band or album I’m not very keen on, but I can’t place it. Just a bit underwhelming.
This is another criminally under-listened-to album. I forgot how much I love this album and genuinely can’t remember the last time I listened to it. Supergrass are definitely underrated.
I like her voice and a few of her songs really hit for me, but this album was a wee bit too long. Still a solid album though.
This album was okay, but possibly not the best introduction to Ray Charles. A bit slow for my liking. I do love his voice though. I may have to seek out some other albums to see what they are like.
I love this album! It is at the slower, more mellow end of my music, but it is so incredibly good. I don’t think I will ever tire of Cat’s poetry and melodies.
Not bad. Country rock isn’t usually my thing, but I enjoyed this album.
I loved this album! The pace of it, the songs (so many of which I knew), the energy and sheer joy of live music. I have never heard of Sam Cooke before today, but I am so pleased I have now.
What a great album! I don’t think I have ever listened to a Tom Waits album before, but I loved this one. So gritty and raw, and so much variety - just a bloody good album.
I had forgotten how good this album is. Every track is a banger. This is going straight back in my regular rotation, where it belongs. Great album!
A few good tracks on this one, but it mostly dropped into the background. An okay album, but I know The Bee Gees have better.
Is this better than Dr. Dre? Yes. Could I get through the whole album? No. Not the worst music I have ever heard and I like the idea of learning the lyrics to one of the songs, just to confound expectations, but not my thing.
This is just not my vibe. I totally get that Dr. Dre is appreciated by others, but I can’t get on board with his music.
Well-crafted music with some interesting moments, just not to my taste.
Not awful. But not something I will listen to ever again.
