Popular Reviews

Wow! That was disappointing. I liked the Kinks but never listened to an album until now. Apart from Waterloo Sunset the songs seem very flat and the overall quite boring. The Jam's cover of David Watts blows the original out of the water. I'll check out other Kinks albums but this one is a hard no.

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Jan 27 2026

I'm not into Country but this was a surprise. Short songs flowing into each other to tell the story. A good Sunday morning listen with a coffee.

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Jan 28 2026

I'm a fan of Nick Drake and this album is great. It's often touted as being a definitive album, but Five Leaves Left and Bryter Later are better albums (IMO).

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Jan 31 2026

Four great tracks but the rest is just filler unfortunately. No doubt Prince was incredibly talented but for me, apart from Purple Rain, his albums fall.

I See You by The xx
Feb 04 2026

Once you've heard the debut album, which I really liked, that's all you need with the XX. Just more of the same with 'I See You'.

The Gilded Palace Of Sin by The Flying Burrito Brothers
Feb 05 2026

Interesting country sound. Obviously an inspiration for Father John Misty.

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Feb 06 2026

None of the albums on the list so far made me go "I must listen to that again" but this one did. Picking up the 50th anniversary release on my way home from work for the third listen.

Dust by Screaming Trees

Tellin’ Stories by The Charlatans
Feb 11 2026

North Country Boy and How High are the stand out songs here but the rest is all... a bit flat.
