Reminds me of Ants From Up There (this must be an early inspiration). Vocalist always sounds like they're on the verge of a mental collapse- half-wailing? Reminds me of Isaac Wood (a lot). Good composition throughout the whole album- very orchestral. Interesting, provoking lyrics! I like the one review that called it the whitest album they ever heard. Songs do blur together, though, and I can't differentiate between them all that well. Great cover art though.
Good Album! Not my favorites from the Smiths, but unmistakably them in terms of lyricism and melody. Very Smiths-esque. My favorite is still I Won't Share You- haunting last song from the band, isn't it?
Jammed up! Amazing guitar work, but would I listen to it again? Probably not, aside from the shorter tracks like Crosstown Traffic. It's just not my thing, unfortunately. Great cover art, though!
Epic. I like the guitars!!! OZZY OSBORNE IS A SICK NAME!!!! Great atmospheric music
Amazing album... Motion Picture Soundtrack never gets any less haunting and beautiful. HTDC is always a fav, as well as Idioteque. In Limbo is good as well, and I also love the ending "Untitled" track a lot---perfect ambient ending to the album. BUT I hate Morning Bell, I can't stand the way Thom sounds on that track. That's my only qualm with the album.
You can always count on Beck for a fun album! Definitely a very experimental mix of sounds... but they somehow work out in the end. A bit scary to listen to at times, but an earworm all the same. It has its hits: Devil's Haircut, The New Pollution, and Where It's At, but overall, as an album, it is not my favorite.
A classic!!! You can never go wrong with Neil Young (although from the reviews I realized that he really is a hit or miss for people) I’m not always a fan of long, instrumental-heavy “jam” tracks, but this album convinced me otherwise. Everything feels coherent and deliberate, even with its lingering, sprawling guitars and whatnot. Favs: Down by the river & running dry
Very fun!!!! Unique sounds
WELL WHATEVER NEVERMIND
Doododoooo good vibes yadayada
First Billy Joel album I listened to but I loved it!!! I dig white boys going crazy on the piano
Hard to find online... but fun and unique! Might listen again just to experience it differently, because it didn't really click this time for me. I liked his tangent about the different types of blues though.
Good but is dragged down by its runtime…
10/10! Super influential and just gets me in that mood where I wanna move around the room real slow and wave my arms around to the beat
Expected more from a band with such a cool name.. bland, uninspired, and unoriginal… nothing memorable but not insulting to the ears. I feel like I got CLICKBAITED!
Bangers
Funky and addictive!
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would! Beep ba boop
Bruv what is this madness ?? 😭😭😭😭 The Godfather of Yuno Miles… also I swear dizzee put a spell on me or something because on the first track I was like “my first 1 star album…” and then at some point I started thinking “This isn’t SO bad. And it’s funny and entertaining, I haven’t been bored a single second” and then I got a little sad that the album was ending bc Bro Dizzee js my friend now he’s so funny and goofy what is he on man. Anyway I thought “I luv u” was the worst track ever when I first heard it but low-key it’s an earworm like the beat is horrendous but oh my god
OK stooges album. It was stodgy
Not really my flow
Haven’t listened to the whole thing but I love jungle! New background work music
Has some fun songs but not really an album I need to listen to before I die ngl!
Yay! Fitting for beach
Its ok but kind of disorganized
awesome opening song! Liked the longer songs too. Really impressed that this came out in 1976?!??
Fire album! I love Petals and the whole album sounds very much in its time. I wish more people would review the album for its content and not its frontswoman!!!!
Love the names, but too long and didn’t care much for the end
Awesome! Girl power
It's clear that the White Stripes know what they're doing and they do it well! They've got the formula down for creating catchy hooks and songs, but still nothing memorable from this album. It was just a fun listen. + Can't say I care much for the album cover
Wayyy too long of a runtime. I enjoyed the first few songs but soon I got tired. Then I got REALLY tired of the album. Not bad though- just too long and repetitive at a point.
Songs were either a hit or miss but I enjoyed it when it was good! I would be interested in listening to his other work too it seems interesting! I am always a seeker for experimental music...just wish Jon wouldn't scream so loud... Guitar was good though. maybe a 2.5/5 for me but I'll round up
Groovy album -- classic Doors! But I HATE the cover album. It freaks me out. Why is Jim Morrison just standing there like a mannequin??? It's uncanny
I dig a white boy on a piano but the album ran a bit too long… great highlights though!
She-bop she-bop
Unfortunately I fell victim to the John Lennon propaganda
Without you is one of the greatest love songs ever written. Also RIP Harry Nilsson he seemed like he had nice energy. he would’ve been fun to talk to
Is it over is it over is it over yet
Honestly I liked this a lot?!? The whole album did feel like it blended together but I liked that quiet a bit, great energy the whole time and just had a blast listening!!
Sorry i dont get it i dont get the hype at all
Liked this more than I expected!! I also hear Jack skellington especially on that one track I forgot thr name
Honestly I was contemplating giving it a 2 for the better half of the album but the story ended up going nowhere in my opinion- and it’s not nearly as good as dizzee rascal!! This is like boy in the corner with LESS flow and LESS cool
High 4! One of the greatest and most innovative female rock artists of our century......
Low 4. I love folk music, this album felt just like a lullaby!! Good stuff, but definitely not the best of the best. I need to re-listen while actually reading the lyrics
Low 3- nothing too memorable but good energy
Something I can picture putting on in the background on my awesome vintage vinyl player......when i am rich enough to have one
I had never sat down to properly listen to this album and I enjoyed it more than I expected! half the time blur is fooling around and i cant take their music seriously because of it but was pleasantly surprised that this album seemed decently organized
Haha 67th album… Anyway I went into the album and the first song absolutely blew me away. Reminded me of the cure.. if they were way more into electronic synthpop stuff.. but I really dug the energy!! Then the rest of the album proceeded to sound nothing like it- it was honestly a drag to get through the rest of it (besides the Joan of arc songs) High 2 unfortunately.. long runtime also dragged the score down
Why is the only Smiths' album not on the list their best one?(Self-titled) This is a close second though. High 4
CONTAGIOUSLY FUN. I love this stuff. High 4
Unfortunately forgettable- also this needs to be REMASTERED. The quality is atrocious
Beastie Boys are like those ugly but funny dudes who chicks are wild about
Braced myself going into it, but actually found myself enjoying a good portion of the album! It didn't feel like 2hr 52 min at all... Definitely far from perfect, but every song had its charm and I enjoyed the cheekiness of it all. High 4
I wasn’t too blown away at first (too much harmonica! Quit it with that!!) but damn Highway Patrolman is one of the best and saddest songs I’ve ever heard- caught my ear and I just had to look at the lyrics and it almost made me cry
Sounds like something I would like but what’s up with the guy sounding off-key half the time?! Not bad but I’d rather just listen to the clash
bangerz. high 4
So many Who albums on this list but they never really seem to impress me that much... OK but mid. This one was much better than Tommy at least. I do like the title track!
Great album and it definitely deserved a spot on the list unfortunately I don’t think I’d ever listen to it again
Enjoyable but didn’t blow me away- sounds like an average rock album idk why everyone’s hyping it up so much (probably bc it’s Paul McCartney)
Whatever u say beautiful
Such gorgeous vocals!! ++ Twang
It wasn't the worst, but sometimes, when I'm trying to enjoy a song, it plays some random loud noise that scares me?? Experimental just for the sake of it
