I have already listened to this album MANY TIMES! it is one of my favourite bowie records, and it’s very timeless. it always finds me at a time of myself life when i feel that a crossroads is coming. big fan
LMFAO i listened to this last night …. one of my favourite albums ever and a landmark of the 80s. nothing is more freeing than “everybody wants to rule the world” which i consider to be one of the best songs of all time. the track run from shout to mothers talk is INSANE.
Not my favourite but some great standout tracks!
Yes bro i listened to this in high school!!!! Ive been thinking about this album recently since people have been hating on RHCP, and i think they may be on to something. while anthony kedis is a terrible piece of shit, their music is also.. just okay. i did dig this when i was a teenager but looking back theres only a few standout tracks. The bands style becomes oversaturated by this point but i think it is their strongest album. After this is by the way which i did consider my favourite by them but i really dont think i enjoy their music anymore because i no longer need to get into every single band from the 90s anymore.
YAYA finally an album that’s actually been on my list. It’s fantastic that’s all i can add right now 👍
listened to this like 7 years ago when i was in my classic rock phase… used to really like chest fever i think ??? idk love the album cover and i hate the weight.. that song actually makes me want to kms i can’t stand it
NO!!!!!! their first album is much better
Obviously i’ve listened to this before… wasn’t a beatles fan at 15 for nothing. One of the few albums I’ll consider as the “greatest of all time” shocking it’s over 50 years old.
classic…… my favorite nirvana album
very underrated trip hop album!! have listened to already, tracy thorn is a great vocalist as well.
Ehhh.. It’s QOTSA. I have heard people say they were fans of this album, but it really seems that QOTSA barely evolve through their music. While they do have a direct style, it seems that though “Songs for the Deaf” is their “Best” album, the two sound relatively the same. While a lot of the songs are interesting, they end up overstaying their welcome, becoming mind-numbing by the 5-minute mark, leaving the last 45 seconds feeling like torture. While I found myself bumping my head to the album, as “Regular John” is a strong opener, the album begins to fade out by the fourth track. It gets repetitive, even as they start opening some of the later tracks with just bass instead of guitar. It’s sleazy, like I hate to say it, but it’s definitely something a bad dude would listen to. Anyways, it feels much like a Rock revival, though I wouldn’t classify it as that, like Led Zeppelin if they decided not to have any creativity, a cover band that’s integrating their own techniques and improvisation. The instrumentals are interesting, but by the time “Spiders and Vinagaroons” plays out, the desert rock begins to seem like an oasis far away; you’re tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. — Look at Wikipedia, it seems like I listened to the “Deluxe Version”, regardless, it becomes pretty redundant after the first four songs. Maybe it needs a re-listen, maybe this is what desert rock sounds like. I am not QOSTA’s biggest fan because they are not really my thing, except if I were driving an El Camino through the dusty highways of Las Vegas.
oops.. actually didn’t listen to this one so ignore rating..
i once tried listening to this album when i was first getting into 90s music, i also had the CD at some point which i gave away. I like drive but the second song began and i decided that’s enough. for an actual first listen, it’s not as bad as i expected. you always hear “Man on the moon” on the radio and i used to hate that song a lot. but the album isn’t my thing but it was a worth while listen. it sounds like how i thought all 90s music sounded when i was a kid. definitely a big player in the soft rock that would emerge in the late 90s
Another one I have listened to! To be fair, I need to revisit this. But off the top of my head, I will say that in the Britpop world, Supergrass are UNDERRATED!! They are much faster and quicker than their peers, especially with tracks like "Sitting up Straight" and the opener "I'd like to know." The second half slows down quite a bit, and I think that "she's so loose" and "Sofa (of my lethargy)" are great. Def need to revisit LOOOL ok
got through the first song and half way through the second song while backstocking
GENERATOR THINKS I DONT KNOW SIAMESE DREAM BY THE SMASHING PUMPKINS 🤣🤣 In all seriousness, genuinely one of my favourite albums ever. I first listened to this in high school. I remember I saw a clip of the music video for "Today." I was hooked. I still remember the walk I took when I listened to it for the first time. It's a true staple of 90s music, a good middle ground for what alternative rock was and how grunge would die.
This is fun. I already knew "Shining Star." Maybe it's too early in the morning, but I feel like I don't have much to say lol
Bro….. cmon sonic youth is literally one of my fave bands of all time LOL. i know its a generator so im going to get albums ive listened too before. with evol it took me like 2 listens to really like it. and unforch i do prefer their next album (can’t think of the name its 7am)
Yes i love talking heads
yes i have obviously listened to this before … i have on vinyl too
No. I may of listened to this album when i was 15 but it’s literally so forgettable i don’t remember. tried liking queen but they literally suck
will be listening later today!
i will always prefer bowie’s 76-79 era but this is fine. listened when i was 15
Listened to this for the first time this year in January! love it obvs
Nice! don’t have time to write a review rn
listened in high school obvs because i love the pixies. but this is probably my second least favourite album by them
Already listened to for the first time this year!
initial review:
Wow. I see why this album is so highly regarded. After being a bit of a police hater for my whole life, I always sorta liked “Every Breath You Take” in a guilty pleasure way. But after getting into an 80s kick these past few months and hearing “Wrapped around your finger” on TikTok, I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. While the early tracks have a more traditional “police” sound that I expected from knowing most of their hits, which I’m not the biggest fan of. But they were good, that 80s feel I’ve been chasing. The second half is more melancholic, reminds me of late-night drives with my auntie. “King of Pain” is a song I have known my whole life, but never knew it was by the band. Overall, a great album and possibly my first favourite of the year.

Otis Redding has an extremely powerful voice; he blends into each cover so smoothly. I originally thought these were all original songs until I took a closer look. I’m not sure if I’ve ever listened to a soul and blues album, but this is definitely a classic in its respective genre. I began listening to this in the shower. Every enjoyable, easy listening!
yes i’ve listened before i luv the cure

Alright, I’m a little disappointed. ESPECIALLY because why the fuck did my work use to play “Boogie On Reggae Woman” like how the fuck do you find that song. Nothing worse than listening to an album and realizing a song plays at your work. Especially because the last 2 albums I listened to had songs from my work. Anyways, anger aside, this just doesn’t seem like Stevie’s strongest project in the classic period, especially coming off of “Innervisions.” I expected something revolutionary, since this album is included in his run of classics. And it was just… okay. There seems to be more groove on here, but also slower songs that are 100% karaoke staples, “Too Shy to Say” or “You Haven’t Done Nothing,” mind-numbing love songs. Then. There’s “They won’t go when I go.” Oh my GOD this is so annoying, repeating the title over and over and over, it's so bad I had to skip it. Even with the lows, “Smile Please” is an excellent opener, followed by “Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away.” Which is so intriguing, it feels very proto-something, and I’m not sure what yet, but the synths are so liquidy. “Too Shy to Say”’s transition into “Boogie On Reggae Woman” flows incredibly well. Too bad I will not be listening to that song. But “Creepin’” and “Bird of Beauty” are such highlights.
—— 5.5/10
i was a beatles fan once.
