Good album with a few singles that I consistently listen to. Only thing I was kind of hoping for was to pick up on some pervasive theme, and I didn’t happen. It was kind of just songs put together.
Stream of consciousness: Dear Prudence I have never heard but so good wow. Obladi oblada is hitting right now; Great start to the day. While my guitar gently weeps is my number 3 Beatles song of all time. Happiness is a warm gun?! So good. Blackbird, what to say? I thought I was only going to list a few songs that I liked but I’m realizing I like almost every song on this album. I will / Julia are amazing. Half of what I say is meaningless. Yer Blues and Everybody’s got something to hide except for me and my monkey are good guitar jams for guitarists out there. And I love the distorted vocals. Helter Skelter then takes that to the next level.
Who are these people and why is this good. The album starts off slow, but after blue lines and be thankful for what you got, I was really invested. The drums are crisp and clean, and the base lines are really punchy. There were so many times in this album that I picked up on chops where I thought, “this would be an amazing sample “. Will definitely be listening to this album a lot moving forward. So unique.
I liked this album. Felt like I was rollerskating in a rink with a disco ball like back in the day when I was alive definitely. I've already heard hungry like the wolves, but it's really good. The synths and punchy drums were good kickstart to the day. My favorite song was definitely last chance on the stairway.
I actually liked this album more than I expected. I thought it started off really strong, but the first four songs all being ones that I ended up saving. Obviously I’ve heard heads will roll through the remix. Soft shock was probably the standout for me, including the acoustic version which really emphasized the singer‘s voice.
Come on. I mean it’s fine but I would definitely not listen again. I don’t think that anybody should be subjected to a 10 minute song where half of it is just screeching. I liked rock you and thirsty.
Not my cup of tea. There were a select few that were good, but the album was a large haystack of slop that needed to be combed through in order to get to those songs.
Wow, what an album. The first song hopes gave me chills. I also really liked funny bird and I’m definitely gonna learn it on guitar. The whole album had such a whimsical dream like feeling that you could definitely see influenced a lot of bands in the 2010s.
It honestly took me a few listens to appreciate this one. I think first listen through I was really indecisive on if this was just bad music that people praised, or if it was genuinely good. I did not have all the context of the album on first listen through. After reading a bit more about the album and John Coltrane and what brought him to making this album, the second listen through was a lot better. I ended up listening a total of four times through. I'm really glad this one was on Friday so I could have the weekend to digest. There's a lot of of emotion behind the instruments that I don't see other albums replicating. The phrasing behind the pervasive "a love supreme "shows how much you can take just four notes and create a world of music from just that.
Holy fupping groovy. You know it’s funky when the bass just sounds like a fart. I downloaded the album as I will happily listen again.

WOOO! Just know when Prince said all the white people clap your hands, I was clapping. All the songs are very layered. David said this last week, but it’s nice to be able to pick out each instrument one by one. Long songs, sometimes too long unfortunately. The highs on this album were some of my favorite songs ever, but the lows took over a large proportion of the run time. Oh and very provocative language 🧐
Very Epic. Obviously Van Halen is a God amongst men on the guitar. Because I play guitar this album was a little redeeming in that sense. Besides the cool guitar techniques, I honestly didn’t care for this album that much.
mr Springsteen has always been an oddity to me. Very hooyah and praise the country type beat. I get how people could like this album. I am not one of those people. Next.
Loved this one. Straight up good blues rock. Gimme Shelter has to be a top 50 song of all time? Merry Clayton shines, though her voice-crack-to-mister-carriage-pipeline story is sad. Makes for some insane music. I love mick jaggers voice too it's timeless.
Damn the Wayne song is awesome. This album sounds like if someone heard it and then tried to recreate it from memory, they would end up with a worse version - Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. Such good producing and mixing. The sounds were so clear and real, there wasn't apparent quantizing or machine-ish loops; It sounds like real music played by real people. Got slightly bored towards the end. Good album though. Would listen again.
Classic country blues. Good job James! Voice - sweet, lyrics - they were there 🤣, guitar playing - whoooweeee! I liked it; Loved it, in fact. Got me feeling some type of way.
I wanted so badly to not finish this album, yet I mustered through the pain. Genuinely should get zero stars. It's a nothing album. I do not need to be hearing Kazoo in 2026. Music so bad I got angry. Swift as the wind maybe just maybe just maybeeeee was fine.
So so so so good. Perfect for a morning drive to work, got me feeling some type of way. Love woke me up this morning is such a beautiful song. Also Papa was a Rolling Stone is a great example of how you can make 11 minutes actually great
Great beats by the legendary Dr. Dre. Express yourself is definitely my favorite song. The flow was kind of lame. Lyrics were quite explicit.
Beats are phenomenal. Fupp Cube is an interesting dude. Maybe not my kind of interesting, though. Flows were a lot better than NWA as well. Not enough wow factor for anything more than a three.
What an album. I didn't even realize Baba O'Reilly, behind blue eyes, and won't get fooled again we're on the same album. I've never listened to the album in full, but I'm happy that I found the songs in between the greatest hits. Loving ain't for keeping, the song is over, and getting in tune were among my favorites. Such a pivotal album in incorporating synthesizers into rock. Such a classic.
Loved the emotion in this one. Thought it was funny that they used a Roland drum machine as the backing for everything else. Not sure if I’m a fan of the lyrics mainly because I couldn’t hear what they were saying.
I really like the ideas of the songs, but I just wish they shortened each song a little bit. Some other genres of music makes sense to have longer songs and and still keep up the engagement, but the fact that all these songs were pretty repetitive called for shorter songs in my opinion. Really wanted to give it a four cause I loved all the sound design.
I mean cmon. I love it. Pennyroyal Tea was gorgeous. Something in the way was hauntingly beautiful. Plateau was a standout to me as well. Kobain’s voice is so unique. I read that he deliberately kept songs in their original key so he had to strain his voice instead of changing the key to one more suitable for his vocal range. What a legend. Oh me is a steady banger. This is one of those albums that I can see myself encountering one song randomly and then needing to listen to the whole thing. It’s a fupping masterpiece
To be honest, I think this is the first one that I didn’t listen to all the way through. Don’t have time for a 2 1/2 hour album on a Tuesday. I don’t feel bad about it either. I feel like I can’t really rate this amongst the other albums because it doesn’t feel like a put together project. With the Nirvana album, even though it was live, at least it felt like a cohesive project.
You better run!!!! Because this album is so good. Loved it. Such a treat of an album. Makes me feel good, and I want to listen many more times. Such great emotion in the singing too.
I liked it about 68% which is in the 3 star enjoyment range.
I think superstition might be my favorite song of the challenge so far. You and I and Tuesday heartbreak are both standouts to me. I love how Stevie Wonder uses synthesizers to replicate funky base lines. His voice is awesome too; can’t help but be in a good mood, listening to this album. I loved the little Jeff Beck solo as well.
Wow. This album really snuck up on me. Honestly I knew the name Dire Straits, but I really only knew sultans of swing and money for nothing and assumed they were a pretty one-dimensional band. I couldn’t have been further from the truth. This album is so dynamic. Beautiful saxophone on your latest trick, punchy rock guitar on money for nothing, and some of the best simple toned guitar on Brother in arms. At the most, there was one skip on the whole album. I’m so happy that this project put me onto this album.
This was just one of those albums where nothing stood out to me. The music was fine, but in my opinion, I just wouldn't say it was above average. That's really it. Honestly, it was just tough to follow up Dire Straits.

It was good. Birthday is a three star song. The rest of the album is forgettable. I am interested in Björk’s solo career now though.
Good album definitely on the higher side of the three stars. Feel like this was the beginning of actual good rap flows. Love the sampling. RZA is a genius. Nothing crazy for me to go back and wanna listen to the entire album but a couple good ones that I saved.
Definitely one of the albums. John bottom is a really really good drummer. I really enjoy a handful of songs on here, but just knowing how good Led Zeppelin is I know this isn’t one of my favorite albums by them. Still good.
It was good. Actually put me in a good mood. Wanna go out of my way to listen again, not because it was bad, but it’s 28 minutes of fine music. Don’t really know what else to say.
I did much like it yes. Really crisp, mixing and production, great at World building. The instruments weren’t too robotic and I felt a lot of emotion come through the music. I’m not sure how much I would actually go back and listen to it, but it was a great listen
