1001 Albums Summary

I've never really gotten into London Calling. After listening again. I'm still not that into it.

One of the first albums on vinyl I ever owned. This is cheap beer music. Sometimes it just hits the spot.

Kelsey was way ahead of me on this one. This album has so many elements (especially the accordion and elastic bass on the first song) that I would typically not enjoy, but somehow, together here, it's nearly flawless. Also, listening to Paul Simon explain how the song Graceland came together really affected how I view the album as a whole.

I had no clue I'd know so many of those songs.

I love the song Pink Moon. The album isn't my favorite by him (give me Five Leaves Left or Bryter Layter).

I love some of the moments on this. The first on Into the Light is awesome. Monitor is great and feels like a precursor to Nine Inch Nails' guitar sounds. I can also hear a real influence on Yeah Yeah Yeahs, too. It feels like this would have been wild to hear in 1981.

For as sprawling and complex as some of these sounds are, they get stuck in my head like crazy.

Incredibly locked in band

I had no knowledge of this guy or this album. It was hit and miss, but more hit than miss.

Mr. Spaceman has to be the inspiration for Dear Mr. Kennedy, right? Some of those electric solos...yikes. Van Dyke Parks on keyboards! (He did all the orchestral arrangements on Ys)

I was surprised at how much I liked the first part half, but it really lost me in the second half of the album

Some amazing grooves

I liked this album in high school. That has changed.

I mean, come on.

I've heard this before and been into it, but this time it struck me as pretty milquetoast.

The Beatles in "there's no bad ideas" mode

I can't wait to hear it once it's finished.

One of the greatest albums ever

Never been a big fan of the Doors.

A lot of sounds I like. Vocally, not a big fan.

Kind of all starts to sound the same. Also, not cool that Jailbait came in while I was in a high school parking lot.

Pretty fun concert.
