Day 1
Miles Davis does not disappoint. Really, this just goes to show how PHENOMENAL jazz is 😫
Fav track: In a Silent Way
Day 2
Some really frickin great tracks in here. Side A is perfect and Side B has some great (not life-changing tracks). Really amazing moments in the weaker tracks sort of keep it in pendulum.
Fav track: Foreplay/Long Time
EDIT: Yeah, I was being stingy, this is a five
Day 3
Hg made an album so perfect she stopped right there 😭
Fav track: Ex-Factor
Day 4
I feel like a Texan father of three after this. It's aight. Some songs are actually pretty good, some just blend together
Fav track: Jesus Just Left Chicago
Day 5
I feel disoriented but like in a chill way
Fav track: A Forest
Day 6
This gets better with time and that's a fact.
See what I did there? TIME? No? I'm sorry
Fav track: Us and Them
Day 7
Dare I say the best hip-hop album of the 80s
Fav tracks: Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos, Don't Believe the Hype, Night of the Living Baseheads, Rebel Without a Pause, Prophets of Rage
Day 8
If this is meant to be one of his best, I'm not ecstatic for the five more Elvis Costello albums...
Fav track: Accidents Will Happen
Day 9
"Oi Keith, what if we pretended to be American for a while?"
"Sounds good to me, Mick"
Fav track: Rocks Off
Day 10
Bro this shit is funner than I ever thought it'd be. Not the biggest fan of glam rock but put aside the "WE LOVE ROCK AND ROLL 🎸🎸🎸" shit and what's left is pretty servicable bordering good.
Fav track: Photograph
Day 11
To my Kid A fans, Morning Bell/Amnesiac haters are invited to the club.
Fav track: Life in a Glasshouse
Day 12
I'm sorry Street Life my precious but the rest of the album is way too subdued for you to share room with them :(
Fav track: Street Life
Day 13
Nas released Illmatic at 20 and wrote these songs as a teen. What the hell are WE doing with our lives?
Fav track: Represent
Day 14
What is it with these albums that start so strong and then dive down in keeping my attention lmao
Fav track: Negative Space
Day 15
Me, this morning: "A double album from 1972 I never heard of? Fine, just get this shit over with."
As it turns out, I did not want to get that shit over with.
Fav track: Hello It's Me
Day 16
Can you believe the youth of my day is forgetting about Parliament/Funkadelic? That's funked up.
Fav track: Mothership Connection (Star Child)
Day 17
Some really good musicianship held back by goofy ass lyrics and being too samey
Fav track: Humiliation Street
Day 18
Three beautiful voices that say a lot in under 40 minutes. RIP Dolly, we will always love you 🩷
Fav track: Those Memories of You
Day 19
Somehow enjoying this album means you're both pretentious and a normie. I agree
Fav track: Day of the Lords
Day 20
Line number one
Line number two
Final line before the title of the song
*Harmonica solo*
Fav track: Mr. Tambourine Man
Day 21
As an ex-avid Kanye fan, Yeezus doesn't hold up as much as I remember. Anyways, whoever's reading this, wanna get smth to drink? 😏
Fav track: New Slaves
Day 22
Faron Young had me fearful but it slowly redeems itself. Not entirely. Another case of a frontloaded start.
Fav track: When Love Breaks Down
Day 23
What the fuck was Seattle putting in their water in the 90s?
Fav track: Black
Day 24
I don't wanna know what the fuck San Fran put in their water in 1967
Fav track: Martha Lorraine
Day 25
Am I tearing up? A good British album that maintains its solid quality the whole time? Thank you, generator 🥹
Fav track: A Design for Life
Day 26
This is Sheer Heart Attack for the class clowns
Fav track: Baron Samedi
Day 27
I reckon Coldplay has probably saved someone's life
Fav track: Trouble
Day 28
I've been a fan of Gorillaz for 7 years and somehow haven't listened to Blur other than Parklife until now. Huge mistake on my part. I know I would've loved this then but fortunately, I do now
Fav track: For Tomorrow
Day 29
This is amazing but 5 British albums in a row? Come on generator
Fav track: He Won't Go
Day 30
I don't think this record is Young
Fav track: Wooden Ships
Day 31
Man sounds bored the entire time but it works
Fav track: Tower of Song
Day 32
So this is mom rock. I love it!
Fav track: Fading Fast
Day 33
I'm sorry but I got tired too many times listening to this shit
Fav track: Step It Up
Day 34
Less than 40 days and I've rinsed Ms. Hill twice already. Not complaining. This shit fire
Fav track: The Mask
Day 35
Richard's a bitch
Fav track: This Flight Tonight
Day 36
I just know this album did a number on indie kids forever
Fav track: Infinity
Day 37
"Shit, I'm being too generous lately. I need to cool it with my fives"
Then she fucking hits me with the "son" expression
Fav track: Venus as a Boy
Day 38
As Peter Griffin once said, "I do not care for blues"
Fav track: The Healer
Day 39
It's a shame colour wasn't invented for The Beatles until 1964
Fav track: Don't Bother Me
Day 40
I liked it better when they did Wonderwall
Fav track: Writing to Reach You
Day 41
A classic and a truly gripping narrative. I cri everytim
Fav track: Comfortably Numb
Day 42
The lady on First Impression says everything
Fav track: Midnight
Day 43
Sunday Bloody Sunday on a Sunday. I might just be the main character. These U2 boys have real potential
Fav track: Drowning Man
Day 44
Imagine naming yourselves "The Band" and getting away with it for decades. Little pretentious douches...
Fav track: Chest Fever
Day 45
Maybe I'd give a better review if there was actually a way to fucking listen to it. Oh well. I'll re-review it once I do
Day 46
Y'all are tripping this is way better than most of the indieslop in that era
Fav track: Empty Nest
Day 47
I've seen my fair share of shit in my life. I like to be open minded. That said, there are instances where media can offend or go out of it's way to be terrible. This is different because it offers me nothing. Every track feels like the same extension of 80s synth pop but doesn't to much to differentiate itself vocally or instrumentally. I found myself bored to death and even the greatest realisation of the format, Perfect Day, was too milquetoast to be added to my rotation. The worst album ever? Not quite. But I do struggle to understand why the fuck this had to make the list out of everything out there
Fav track: Cant be arsed
Day 48
Black Sabbath if they were cool
Fav track: Black Hole Sun
Day 49
What is it with this list and by the numbers 90s electronica?
Fav track: Water from a Vine Leaf
Day 50
For the first big milestone, I'm torn. It's Easier and Outer Space seemed to set up a stronger second half but hey, y'know what Grant thought would be funny? To throw in a bunch of slurs the very track after! Fuck off
Fav track: Outer Space
Day 51
Frank's that guy. What more can I say?
Fav track: We'll Be Together Again
Day 52
I could quip but these guys had real potential. What a shame they were screwed over so hard
Fav track: The Ballad of El Goodo
Day 53
We left sex and drugs in the hippie era, not sure if these guys got the memo
Fav track: Then She Did
Day 54
Oh yeah I'm Fripping it I'm Fripping it good, mmm that's some good prog
Fav track: Epitaph
Day 55
It's got grit. It's got moxie. It doesn't always have my attention. Might benefit from a relisten but that means staring at the album cover
Fav track: I'd Like to Know
Day 56
Considering I gave With the Beatles a 4, I was extremely hesitant to reward this with a 5. But at the end of the day, Buddy Holly really was that guy. I loved nearly every track. I truly wish we got to see how he would've adapted to the 60s and beyond
Fav track: Tell Me How
Day 57
Trying to overcome my rapid Francophobia and the good news is I'm not particularly more hateful. I just don't have enough of a good reason to be less hateful.
Fav track: Oxygène, Pt. 4
Day 58
Iggy Mix was considerably greater. Unfortunately, upon saying this, Iggy Pop now refuses to leave my house and sees this as a sign of gratitude. "Why don't you get a real job?" I say. He responds by screaming in my ear and proclaiming that he's the godfather of punk which is not true considering Roger Waters exists. I can't take my word back now. Four stars.
Fav track: Gimme Danger
Day 59
Bono saved my cat's uncle's owner's girlfriend's cousin's life. Still think War was better tho
Fav track: So Cruel
Day 60
The funny thing about the reviews page is that the stuff that clicks for me is generic for someone else and vice versa. I had no knowledge of The Jam prior to this roll other than That's Entertainment, a phenomenal song might I add. This had the right amount of wit, social commentary and just general groove to uplift my evening. Now, I need to say something funny before I get ahead of myself. TOOL.
Fav track: That's Entertainment
Day 61
Just a slog to get through. It's elevator music stretched to it's thinnest state. Mid.
Fav track: Birdland
Day 62
I wanna find a reason to push this to a 4 but at the end of the day, I found this a solid record. Suppose I'm expecting the wrong thing wanting a progression but being a younger Zoomer with a fried attention span, this challenge is bound to hopefully fix that flaw within me. Could I listen to it again? Yeah, I'm not gonna cross out Bob that quickly
Fav track: Lively Up Yourself
Day 63
Literally unlistenable. Will listen again
Fav track: Diana
Day 64
I'm an adamant hater of 80s sludge when I can clock it. This is not 80s sludge. This is what happens when you take a vocalist with a smooth voice, equip it with optimism that doesn't fall slight and utilise their sound in a forward-facing way that doesn't drown itself in keyboard wankery. It's a phenomenal listen start to finish. It's Scritti Politti if Scritti Politti was good. So not Scritti Politti.
Fav track: New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)
Day 65
THEY SAY THEY TREAT ME LIKE A SLAVE CAH' ME BLACK 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fav track: Mortal Man
Day 66
Let Roy Harper be a lesson for every aspiring musician on how to fuck up a potentially 5 star album
Fav track: Since I've Been Loving You
Day 67 (So glad this meme died)
This sounds EXACTLY like the type of shit I'd be hearing in Tom & Jerry back in the day. Not complaining.
Fav track: Deception
Day 68
Fuck it, I'm introducing 3+ because this doesn't belong on the same tier as Heavy Weather but it's still too flawed for an honest 4.
Fav track: Winter of the Long Hot Summer
Day 69
I want to point out that the day before, I was hoping to get something outside of the UK or US. Furthermore, I explicitly made a point that I had avoided AC/DC so far and was joking to myself that I'd inevitably run into them. Against all odds, it appears I've manifested receiving them today. What is the fucking likelihood because this is both freaky and hilarious.
Ah right, the album itself. Whoever came up with the chocolate ice cream analogy is bang on.
Fav track: Back in Black. Call me boring, you agree with me on the inside
Day 70
It's DARE (Uh)
Fav track: Step On
Day 71
I was prepared to hate this with the Oasisisms. It picked up steam at Captain's Table and Kenny but not enough. With that said, enough of the Britslop...
Fav track: Streets of Kenny
Day 72
John Paul Jones, you are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You never know dear, how much I love you. Everything Robert Plant said about his wife on Thank You is how I feel in regards to you 💛
Fav track: Ramble On
Day 73
Me hear syncopated drum. Me happy
Fav track: Demon's Theme
