1001 Albums Summary

this honestly mostly sounds the same to me. Misogynistic lyrics with similar screeching vocals and heavy guitar riffs. the song highway to hell is the only departure from this theme

Genuinely one of the shortest albums and yet almost every single song is too long. Band on the run (the song) is a classic and I like bits and pieces of all of the songs. I really liked the descent into chaos of nineteen hundred and eighty five It's fun, it's fine, but it's nothing spectacular

Absolutely beautiful saxophone music. It makes me year for my school band days although I was nowhere near the level of precision that this has. This isn't the type of music I'd reach for typically, but maybe now I would

That was a beautiful album that I really enjoyed. Not something that I'd reach for all the time, but very lovely to listen to.

This album contains my absolute favourite Steely Dan song, Deacon Blues. I may be biased because I was 15 (in 2013) when I first saw Steely Dan as my dad is a big fan, but I love this album.

I like the singles, but don't love the album.

Unlike the people of newport folk festival, I prefer Dylan having gone electric. This is a 3.5 rounded up to a 4 for the (unfortunate) continued relevance of it's alright, ma (I'm only bleeding) Also the Byrd's Mr tambourine man is much better than Dylan's

Having only known violent femmes as the blister in the sun band, it's really great to hear that there's way more to them. I really loved this album, not quite a 5 for me but I will definitely be revisiting and maybe doing a deeper dive on the band

I love a political song (or several)

This album is just kinda meh for me. It's good, but nothing grabs me. A true 3/5

It's a fun album, but not something I'd gravitate towards. I love melody for an unknown girl's saxophone part.

I have no idea if I'm supposed to be listening to the 1999 remaster or not, but taking out the talking (and the star spangled banned) this is such a showcase of musical talent. We rarely hear this level of musical talent in popular music nowadays and it's so refreshing to hear it.

Tina Weymouth the bassist you are

the misogyny and homophobia is such a turn off for this album. I'm not a rap person, but I like the flow and the beats. Unfortunately the flow and beats are not enough to rate this higher against the misogyny and homophobic lyrics. Also way too long

the songs that sound the least like 2005 are good

I definitely likes this more than any other rap album I've ever listened to. Not something I'd reach for, but really interesting beats and I like the way both big boy and andre 3000 rap. 3.5 rounded up

not well versed in Dolly, but I will be doing some additional listening

Again not something I'd typical reach for, but really good

Love me some harmonies

I really didn't think that I'd like a Morrissey album without Johnny Marr, but alas I do

It's an interesting mix that's not exactly for me. Happydaystoytown is Monty Python before Monty Python existed

I liked most of the album, but not enough for a 5

about half listenable even enjoyable and half absolutely awful noises that hurt my head

There were good bits, but too much record scratching for me. The Norwegian Wood cover is pretty cool

Too long and too much of the same

Yaow! *Horn noises*

Surprised that I actually liked this. Probably won't reach for it much though

it's giving we have the Beatles at home

Not a fan of live albums

Really good except the listen to the music cover was too slow

My Canadian grade 12 level French understanding of this made it clear that the content was gross and Wikipedia confirmed it. The context provided doesn't make it seem like you're supposed to hate the narrator. Even with the influential nature of the music, I can't justify giving it anything other than a 1.

I actually can't stand listening to this many shrieky songs in a row. Propped up by the singles which are a mild departure from that

I personally didn't need to listen to this, but I understand why it's here.

Not what I was expecting, but not awful

A gorgeous voice

Love just about anything with horn sections and string sections

To me the point of this exercise is to open your mind and see what you'll enjoy. I'm seeing that lots of people aren't doing that and that's why this is rated so low. It's a theatrical album and you can easily find the English translation on YouTube. Her voice is interesting, the instrumentation is fantastic, and the lyrical content is pointed and I'm sure a bit easier to follow in German.

not entirely my cup of tea, but lots of bit I enjoyed

Not something I'd reach for often, but I know the importance of this band and I like a lot of it

this is an interesting mix of styles and I really like it

I was only aware of alright and I'm so excited to learn that the rest of it is super cool.

There were bits I liked, but ultimately not for me

Bits I liked, bits I didn't

So much of it came from here

Not my vibe, but I enjoyed it for the most part

Would be higher if not for so many Morrisseyisms and I actually like the Smiths generally

Interesting, but ultimately not for me

not something I'd reach for, but interesting. Unfortunately so clearly 2016

would definitely come back to some of these songs

As a noted Radiohead hater I will admit this isn't as bad I as I thought it'd be. Thom Yorke is wayyyy to whiny a singer though

I really enjoyed this

really enjoying the Leonard Cohen albums

unlike everybody else, I liked the back half of this album more than the front half. However I don't like techno

Help me may be an absolutely perfect song

I love stuff like this

I can't tell if I don't like these songs cus they're overplayed or I just don't like them. However without this album we wouldn't have both weird Al's fat AND alien ant farm's superior cover of smooth criminal

Too much billy Corgan for me, but a handful of excellent songs

I don't know how you could rate this anything other than 5. There's several songs on here that defined the early 2010s and her voice is soaring and lovely.
