1001 Albums Summary

Rap is not really my style but I enjoyed listening to this. Rhythmic and jazzy.

Solid album.

This is the first Elvis Costello album I got and I'm already dreading the other ones.

On relisten I liked this a lot better

Some songs are ok while others are just hard to sit through

Cannot fathom how this made the list

Pretty interesting overall

Repetitive and cringy, not least because of the over-the-top name drops. Sounds like cheap plastic for the most part. Justified and Ancient is the one redeeming track.

Seems fitting that I got Illmatic only about a week ago, so it is still fresh in my mind when I hear it in the lyrics. That was an amazing album. This is...fine.

Possible hot take but I liked The Hurting more.

Some parts of this sound like a broken washing machine.

Aggressively mediocre

Whimsical and fun. I get it's not for everyone but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this.

Almost feels like he's falling asleep while singing sometimes. Unsettling and weird.

Bad vocals over disjointed noise

Very run-of-the-mill country songs. I thought Fly By Night was alright.

Ok as background music. Unmemorable.

Second Elvis Costello album but this one is ok.

Absolutely stunning. Loved everything about this.

Passionate and joyful. Enjoyed more than I thought.

Amazing voices, quite nice to listen to

Quite fun and groovy. Enjoyed this a lot.

Good vibes, very smooth

Fine but boring and repetitive. I kept thinking a song was ending only to find there was half of it left.

Standard issue UK rock

Not a fan of the misogyny and it dragged on for way too long.

This is what dissociation sounds like

I just can’t do metal man

Music was fine but I cringed so hard at the lyrics, which made it impossible to separate art from the artist. I'm honestly relieved that this is not my genre to begin with.

I can't really explain why I like this so much

Good instrumentals, but insufferable vocals

Started ok but fell off and became incredibly hard to listen to near the end
