90s chillhouse? Fuck yeah
757 represent - Timbaland is easily in the GOAT conversation for production. The whole album is funky and soulful af, and so deep and rich. I could probably listen 10 times in a row and hear new elements. I really can't believe this was '97 - it feels way ahead of its time.
Jammy, folksy, but totally not over the top. Light and fluffy like a merengue (am I good at album reviews???)
A funky af; proto-fugazi sounding, "It's native american, sir", album. Definitely recognized some of these songs as classic 'left of dial' jams, having never heard delved into Gang of Four before. Good stuff
super cool, bud

The album starts off with those strong hipster cocktail party vibes that place me in a fancy hotel bar drinking $14 martinis all by my lonesome. Look, Sinatra sings a lot about dumb "I'm so rich and hot and famous" white people shit but I can't help it if I enjoy some big band every now and then. Also, there's literally a song on here called Makin' Whoopee... such simpler times.
Super high, almost punk-rock energy, which is wild for 1970. The Who is the Who, legends for a reason and this album puts that on display for sure. Why do I keep thinking I'm listening to Jimmy Page singing, or an Alex Lifeson hook? The Who definitely has a pretty unique sound but you can hear that 'classic' 70s rock influence that this album either gave or borrowed throughout, which is pretty cool
Love clapton, like classic blues. Feels like a transitional record between stripped down basement blues and rock and roll. Almost happens throughout the records. Is that the Daytripper riff!?
Oooh baby, disco riffs to kick things off. Not upset about that. This is bringing me to the 'gettin' jiggy with it' era that followed in the 90s, and the disco revitalization (Get Lucky) that came afterwards. I don't know how much these sisters get credit as pioneers, but maybe the OG disco music isn't as bad as it's cracked up to be. And yes, I still hate the title track - credit that to being overplayed I guess. Now time to listen to Poolside's Daytime Disco playlist for the next 10 hours.

Starts with one of my all time favorites and somehow gets better. Neil Young is one of my all time favorites and this album is exactly why. I love the soft twang and the modulating energy and mood of this album in particular. Light, sunny, and fluffy songs like For the Turnstiles into the haunt of On the Beach. Good stuff.
Psychadelic and garagey right from the start with some phat riffs. Me likey for the most part, even though that 'shoebox' sound comes off a little dated at times. Does this album ever end??
These people sound fun. Do I actually like disco? wtf... Le Freak -- there's the radio banger. And what's this jazz interlude???
Did not expect the heavy dub. I don't mind the strong reggaeton vibes, but would actually love to hear an instrumental version of this album as a personal preference. Where my Skream heads at??
I'm sure it was fine if I bothered to listen to the lyrics. He seems very artsy.
Cool, a concept album. Peppy, sort of sporadic, lots of layers, seemingly very well produced. There's a lot to digest but it's fun. Is this Nü Disco??
A classic, but I still like the self-titled better. Sting vocals and the outdated lyrics and kind of silly.
It's fine.
Ooh baby that organ. This album is actually pretty damn unique for the time. Psychadelic, loud-rock, sort of garage jammy. When put in the context of a classic rock radio station, it's easy to look past all it has going for it. Not to mention this album is chock full of bangers.
Heavvvyyy 90s fuzz-rock with some pretty good hooks. It's like if the Eels were more angry than sad and feels very much like the early 90s while somehow riding the wave of more modern (2010s) sound that makes it relatively timeless. Still, it's not entirely my style
90s chillhouse? Fuck yeah
So I generally kind of hate 80s-90s hip hop because it's kind of corny and lame and super dated sounding. But this album is pretty tight so far. They made some pretty iconic beats
Obviously heard this a million times, but damn, it is a good'n through and through.
Awesome record.
Should have listened to the lyrics.
Legend. He actually teaches you about the music before he shreds face.
"BREAKING THE LAW, BREAKING THE LAW" Oh yeah, so metal. I find myself wishing this was less bon jovi and more black sabbath.
College dance party babyyy. I need to find some late-night pork rinds to soak up all that twisted tea. I can see how this album steps up that 90s electro-dance into something a little more fresh and unique. It really is a good album in the context of the genre.
This album is 2.5 hours long. It's good, but at the end of the day, just too much Who.

It starts off like some classic, classic British rock album (that somehow slipped under my radar for 30+ years) but shifts towards a pretty unique sound -- some yacht rock, Queen-esque 'hard prog rock', a little psychadelic, and even some showtune-y vibes.
Was there such thing as punk music in the 60s???
Just happy vibes.
Wow, starts off strong with some cop car chase vibes (very 80s of course)
It's like female-led Nirvana. Cool. Ish.
This has some of those lazy sparkle-pop vibes that bands in the 2010s were going for, and it definitely works. I like this, sometimes low-fi lite, sometimes psychedelic and surf-rocky, always with that classic 70s feel that it just can't shake.
I mean... Not only is there not one bad song on the album, there are a bunch of absolutely classic bangers.
It's fine.
#dadrock
Rockabilly surf-music, folded into some more mellow blues-y jams. Good stuff
Jammy, folksy, but totally not over the top. Light and fluffy like a merengue (am I good at album reviews???)
Pretty good.
how his voice so deep yo
They're like a grungier american radiohead -- almost touching on this this mythical 'chatterfolk' genre I tried to invent. This album (and band) is amazing - reminds me of getting stoned in high school late at night and watching skate videos and shitposting on Slap Magazine's forums.
90s prog rock? Interesting. Reminds me of a Spock's Beard type of band. Overall pretty meh.
Ah yes, the college freshman bedroom poster album. It's actually pretty dang good, or is that just my nostalgia?
She's not singing very hard.
This is wild. Bridging the gap between 70s Fripp, and 80s Talking Heads off-beat mellow weirdness. Really good, but best for a rainy work day morning.
At least it's not *all* white guys making reggae. The album cover still reminds me of Snatch for some reason. This band is very much a Clash lookalike. I just wish Ghost Town was on this album
Much more rockin' than I thought it'd be. Probably worth exploring more of his stuff at some point
Meh
Haunting 90s soul RnB, with some breakbeat. Sweet.
It's fine
Good ol CCR
I mean the dude can write a song
This guy 'sing's like a true doucher, but the music is pretty good.
Shit is wild and all over the place. I love it
Hell yeah yeah yeah. So many bangers.
This band is sweet, kind of proto-punk, while staying within that 60s garage rock vibe. The sound seems ahead of its time for sure, and they wrote a lot of songs that survived into relevancy after all these years.
19 songs, 23 minutes. Can't really go to wrong with that. Plus old punk friend danny approves.
Hell yeah, some good 90s electro funk. They are unique in their harmonizing/singing.
It's not bad, but it's nothing super special so far. Mellow 80s jamz with some harmonica, and is that a mandolin?
This album kicks ass. 70s pop-punk with fat riffs and some ethereal 80s sounds that were clearly ahead of their time.
Chill classic country vibes, cool.
twas fine
Album cover: Tired. Disco riff that kicks the album off: Wired. They are kinda Talking Heads-ish with a sexy sax backing, ands more of a standard groove set-up.
Tis good. Cool to hear hints of early dub-step in the background. You can tell this album really set the stage for a lot of music that followed it.
Early 90z fuzz-rock, mmmbop. He's got Janes Addiction vibes kinda, but more on the heroin side than cocaine. So I guess that's marcy Playground...
This album cover feels very right
Pretty unique, but good.
Not at all what I expected. I don't really know how to weigh the good and bad of a slowjam honky tonk album, but here we are.
Hell yes
Yeah, really f-ing good.
Awesomness.
Why do his sad songs sound so happy? He's got a pretty unique style. It's got a little more folksy oomph than typical emo from that era. It's more stripped down and heartfelt than the Brand News that hide behind their eye shadow and ripping guitars.
good 'ol country
Fuggie epic.
Yeah, I mean it's a good album. Cool to listen to the deep cuts, they are all pretty solid too.
I now see where The Cactus Blossoms got their sound from.
Mellow afrobeat, this opens a whole new world.
Pretty sick. Sort of King Crimson-y. Super psychadelic, a little jazzy, very progressive, but more chill/ambient than heavy rock and also a healthy dash of creepiness.
Nice fuzzy noise-rock.
Weird and fine for the most part. A couple pretty good songs.
twas fine
Yeah, another good 90s 'classic' techno album. Pretty decent genre overall
Kind of perfect with morning coffee
Solid 80s cheese
Chill country jamz, I actually kind of dig this.
I liked the other album that was recommended much better, at last after the 2.5 songs I listened too.
Yeah, it's good. I bet if I listened more closely I'd glean more of a 'story' than listening idly in the background
The exclamation point threw me off -- I was expecting some euro-centric electro-pop. But this is super chill and really surprisingly good.
This album is pretty sick. Ethereal, unique, and much more than a unique voice with an accent you can't quite place.
GLORIA! Reminds me of high-energy French pop, kinda sick
Solid, but not great
Much more mellow that I expected, but pretty good. I'm sure if I was paying attention to the lyrics I'd appreciate it a lot more.
progrock chyeah
twas pretty good
Hell yeah
v somber
Just a raucus good time
Jammy and pretty good. I shot the sheriff!
