I'm addicted to buying unbelievably expensive custom helicopters (yeeeeeeaaahhhh) In a brief moment of lucidity I went to the helicopter dealership and told them "Do not, under any circumstances, sell me more helicopters" I was back there half an hour later, wearing a fake moustache, and I said "Hello gentlemen, I am Ray Z, a man you have never met before. Give me 10,000 helicopters covered in diamonds"
Cool glam rock album. I liked it when he rhymed 'nose' with 'toes'. 7/10
Tracks don't show much progression in their ~ 6-minute runtime. Best tracks are Wilmot and Tow Truck. 4/10, not bad but I'm always waiting for something to happen that never does
Noisy indie-rock/punk-rock album. Well mixed, but could benefit from being even noisier/bordering on industrial music. 8/10
Latin rock / psych rock / jazz fusion Heavily latin-influenced album that constantly transitions to new musical ideas, similar to prog rock. 9/10
Pop / New wave Overall an okay album - slightly uninteresting but not bland. Each track showcases a new style, such as contemporary R&B and ska, as is expected with new wave music. 3/10
(Classic rock / Art rock) Great album with elements of punk rock & poetry and a unique vocal delivery. Birdland is a stand-out track, featuring distorted guitar that borders on noise rock. 8/10
(Folk rock / Americana) Decent and consistent album, well-regarded among psych rock fans. 6/10
(Jazz rock / Pop rock) Extremely well-written jazz rock that still sounds contemporary thanks to the quality of the session musicians and production. However, the 'softness' of yacht rock detracts from an otherwise stellar album. 8/10
why are there so many rock albums aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 6/10 it's decent
Great psych-rock album with some super slick gospel/soul harmonies. Mixed slightly muddy/dark. 8/10
A revered prog rock album with complex arrangements/performances from each member. 8/10, the lyrics are a bit stinky.
Very cohesive new wave/post-punk album with great atmosphere, showing the beginnings of gothic rock. 9/10
nina simone nina simone nina simone nina simone nina simone nina simone nina simone nina simone 9/10
I Cannot Fucking Wait Til Morrissey Dies [FLAC, 2018] (5/10, quite tame)
A pop-punk album that hasn't aged well and sounds trite/over-produced. 'Jesus of Suburbia' is the least hackneyed, due to the meter changes. 4/10, used to like this.
Noisy indie-rock/punk-rock album. Well mixed, but could benefit from being even noisier/bordering on industrial music. 8/10
This is a real stinker. Easy-listening folk rock with not much going on. 2/10
groove metal go chug-a-chug. 6/10, could benefit from switching up the instrumentation
The opening track set a precedent that the rest of the album couldn't follow. Overall, a bit clichéd and overproduced. 6/10
Couldn't review, it makes me very sleepy. Is it good? Is it bad? No idea. 5/10
A staple breakbeat hardcore/techno album. Consistent all-round, but rave music hasn't aged that well. 7/10
Poorly mastered hard rock without the same charm as Black Sabbath. 2/10
Cool glam rock album. I liked it when he rhymed 'nose' with 'toes'. 7/10
Super cheesy and theatrical pop rock/prog rock. Couldn't dislike it if I tried, 9/10.
Experimental/alternative rock. Great use of ambience and space, but some tracks suffer from a lack of forward momentum and could benefit from delving into post-rock timbre. 9/10
otis redding otis redding otis redding otis redding otis redding otis redding otis redding otis redding
A staple heavy metal album. 8/10, I always thought the album cover was plain black.
New wave/post-punk. 7/10, John Peel was right about this one.
7/10, what happened to nu metal since then?
i hate it, i hate buddy holly, i hate you. 2/10
Ya like jazz? 11/10, I'd sell my kidneys for another Kendrick album as good as this.
Noise/alt rock with some elements of no-wave. Hella takes a lot of influence from this band. 8/10, give me more noise.
New wave/post punk. It's lacking the post-punk sound both in instrumentation and vocals, and is quite safe tonally. 5/10, lukewarm.
Serge is too close to the mic, I can hear all the mouth sounds. 6/10, very French but sounds like mukbang.
If Led Zeppelin is so good, why haven't they made a Led Zeppelin V?
Without a doubt, one of the albums of 1975.
yeeeeeeeaaaaaah woooooooooooooooooo 7/10 i love it
Samba funk with spicy percussion and guitar. 6/10, would like to see more variety/free improv, as well as a timbre change-up.
I have an irrational hatred for country music; I listened to Jason Aldean once and never recovered.
Every track is a certified hood classic (apart from Within You). 7/10, Mr. Kite is cool.
Great example of Afro-Cuban jazz. Pueblo Nuevo is stinky, but every other track is great. 8/10, didn't know they had 20 members.
Not a fan of their harmonies, but 'Take the Devil' is almost a redeeming song. 3/10, whyyyyyyyyyyy
Hip hop soul/R&B. I want to give it a 10/10 and a 0/0. 5/10, an R&B fan would like this a lot more than me.
A really interesting prog-rock album. The first side is a seven-part suite, and by far the strongest on the album, whilst the second side is a weaker collection of 'unrelated' songs. 8/10
A nice early psych rock/country rock album. 6/10, but why are the drums hard-panned left in every track?
Yup, it's Steely Dan. 7/10, I liked Aja more.
A classic heavy metal album. Favourite track is '22 Acacia Avenue'. 7/10, would like to see more variety in sound or instrumentation.
Great Hendrix album, easily an 8. Electric Ladyland beats this one by a close margin.
Not too hot on this one. A lot of the songs end up sounding the same, with no particular standout track. 3/10
A very inconsistent alt rock/noise rock album. The downtempo tracks are by far the worst, but "Don't" is easily the best and noisiest song. 5/10
Not a fan of the overly clean indie-rock sound or the tight harmonies. The stranger/off-kilter tracks are the strongest (second half of 'Remade Horizon'). 4/10, would benefit from being less formulaic
First two tracks are quite strong, the rest are not great. 3/10
synths are stinky, but they do be grooving. 6/10
'Dead Embryonic Cells' is a very strong track. Not a fan of the formulaic thrash metal sections, but the slower parts are more interesting and nuanced. 7/10, groovy
Not as good as Ocean Rain. All the songs end up sounding the same, but it transitions nicely because I couldn't tell the difference between songs. 3/10
Really like Venus In Furs and Run Run Run and Heroin. Great art rock album with noise from Lou Reed. Strong 8/10, maybe 9
A easy listening mix of jazz rock and prog rock. Bass, vox and drums are the strongest, especially on 'Freedom Rider'. Other tracks and instruments aren't great and sound dated. 4/10, not much happening here
3/10. The best part was the random screaming during "Yesterday's numbers"
Can't get over the stock orchestra hits from a keyboard in the opening track. Not for me
without a doubt, one of stevie wonder's albums. 8/10
instruments are neat, vox are quite corny. 3/10, not feeling this one
Pleasantly surprised by this album. A very strong grunge/hard rock sound with no overly weak tracks. 8/10, pretty cool
Decent post-punk/gothic rock album that started off weak, but had much stronger tracks towards the end. 6/10, second half is the best
Great double album where each half is equally strong. Style and theme is consistent within each side, with very few weak tracks despite the length. 9/10, pretty good
don't like this one. final result is worse than the sum of its parts, 2/10
Probably the strongest Beastie Boys album. 7 or 8/10, best track is easily '5-piece chicken dinner'
A bit lukewarm on this. The minor, downtempo tracks are the strongest whilst the rest feel overdone. 6/10, I preferred Sgt. Pepper's.
'The Murder Mystery' is easily the best and craziest song on this album. Two verses at the same time by different people hard-panned to each channel, with strong instrumental backing. 8/10, want more like this song, but the banana album is better overall.
Pretty good, very strong overall. Blonde beats this as an album, but both are well matched track-for-track. 7/10
kinda fresh, kinda funky. 7/10, strong across the board but the bass player carried the opening track
Tracks don't show much progression in their ~ 6-minute runtime. Best tracks are Wilmot and Tow Truck. 4/10, not bad but I'm always waiting for something to happen that never does
Nothing special. Guitar comp didn't vary much, if at all, between tracks. Vocals are fine but don't particularly grab me. 2/10, eh
When he said forget, it sounded a lot like baguette. 5/10, neat but not for me
Quite a fun glam rock/art rock album, but nothing really stood out to me. Falsetto vocals are fine, maybe a bit tired by the end of the album. 6/10, best track is 'Here In Heaven'
Strongly dislike this album. Super cheesy/cheap and isn't a sound that has aged well after two decades. 1/10
Groovy French house. 'Genesis' is the best track on the album, 7/10
A very nice surprise from a rock/shoegaze album. Very strong track listing with the more discordant and/or noisy sections being the strongest. 8/10, pretty good
Pretty strong art rock from the thin white duke. 7/10, could be even crazier and left-field.
Pretty fun baroque pop album, but not for me. (aaaaa too many mixes)
Alright. Mix could have been a bit cleaner, but at least it sounds like a live album.
I think I love it. Tough call between this and electriclarryland, at least 7/10.
A strong SY album, but less noisy and more alt-rock than other albums. 7/10, I preferred 'Dirty' as well as the earlier no-wave works.
Bluebird Wine reminds me too much of 5-Piece Chicken Dinner. 2/10, definitely not for me
Very easy listening folk rock/country rock. 3/10, didn't like this one but it could have been worse.
Pretty decent rock album with a nice grunge sound. 'Cecilia Ann' is a very strong opening, and the overall tone is consistent throughout the album, but I would have liked to see more variation within songs. 7/10, something about the song-writing or instrumentation feels like it stopped short of a better album.
A very strong new wave/post-punk album with a cohesive atmosphere across each track. No weak songs, and great production that still holds up well today. 9/10, pretty nice
Decently fun album with a wide range of styles and instrumentation. 5/10, probably sounded more modern on release than it does today.
The harmonica is definitely a unique sound. 2/10
Amazing album that beats Electric Ladyland for me. Any track could be my favourite, but Exp and Little Wing are great. 9/10, nice
Unquestionably one of the Beatles' albums of all time
A great surprise from a blues album. Mannish Boy is probably the strongest track, and the background yells throughout are a highlight. 7/10 at least, Muddy Waters is a legend
Nice album, shame that Rick Rubin clipped it to hell and back.
Nicely structured album with interesting songs, but I can't get over the strongly 80s sound. 5/10, cool that they had an impostor band for 2 years
I liked the sick piano solo after he said 'crippled inside'
Hard Again is easily a better album from Muddy Waters
Fun album with more of a psych streak outside of the big singles. 'Weekend Wars' and 'The Handshake' are the strongest tracks. 6/10, going to throw up if I ever have to listen to 'Kids' again.
Classic Black Sabbath album, and Planet Caravan is pretty cool. Easily an 8/10, maybe more
Not bad, not really impressed or moved any particular way. 5/10, the physical zipper on some of the records are cool
Quite kitsch, but still has a bit of humour. 4/10, not a big fan.
Pretty weird new-wave album with elements of art rock. Tracks are consistent but lack a strong connection or theme, 6/10.
