Liked the last half of the album a lot more!

Beautiful album, and I’d never heard of him before. Short, tragic life. Music that is ahead of his time. Some bossa nova influences

I’d never listened to a jay-z album all the way through before. Clever and masterful lyrics. I feel like I need to know more to put it in context with the genre.

Didn’t love—I think it didn’t age well. Great voice and sweet songs, but not a huge fan of the songwriting style at places or the way the songs were put together. Mostly personal preference. It did have moments that surprised me, like “the mind of love”

Beautiful, interesting, vibrant. Good creative work music, can be ambient or the main event. Techno and soul influences side by side. A new favorite.

It was fine, but nowhere close to my favorite. Decent background music but I probably wouldn’t choose to listen to it again.

From the transition from the intro into the second song, I was hooked. Stunned that I’ve never listened to this before. Glad that I have now.

Some cheesy background vocals but overall solid and holds up v well. Lots of keepers

Interesting and inventive—incorporates a lot of classical music/operatic themes throughout which was cool to hear. Storytelling songs sometimes didn’t work but some did. Especially liked the one you love and waiting for a dream

Indian and classic rock influences. Worth another listen but not life-changing for me, but maybe I was distracted while i listened

Original country. Merle haggard was kinda cute when he was young

Good folk music—fiddling, acoustic guitar, EYC. Sometimes reminiscent of Irish folk music

Electronic. Interesting but not in my rotation

Prof rock. Interesting and weird. Need to be in the right mood for it

Old, classic folk. Acoustic sound, can hear as a source of influence for later eras of the genre
