ok, heard some of these before as classics. a bit yobby

spoken word, poppy, hard to get into at first but quite liked overall

i mean it's rumours, i already like it and would probably have it in my top 50 albums of all time, one of those albums you can listen to anytime

not bad, pretty old sk00l funky thing, imo 'le freak' doesn't actually fit with the album too much and is arguably it's worst song (holy shit the album version is 5:30 long, it gets old by two minutes in) fav track: happy man

the first of the "new metallica" after Cliff's death, don't like it as much as MoP / RtL but it's a good album! fave track: eye of the beholder

when was this made ah yes the 60s makes perfect sense trippier than expected but honestly, no amount of drugs would carry this fairly mediocre album. im sure it was good for its time fave track: balloon burning (sounds like an ancient king gizz song)

ehhhh this is the album equivalent of a weetabix served with lukewarm tap water

the man can sing and carries this album. some of the instrumentals are a little bland. if i listened to this 5 times it might become a 5. fav song: dream brother

whoever decided this album was a good idea should "blast off". it's the sort of music you would hear in a movie when the protag walks into a seedy dive bar to help you get the vibe for how shit the place is some of the instrumentals are decent but, it's too little too late. im sure in the 80s this was good, its not good now.

a really nice house(?)/techno(?)/??? record. a pleasure to listen to. sick drums. maybe a little too vocal for my tastes and it loses a bit of its punch towards the second half. fav track: Banstyle also, going by the vocals from "pearl's girl" this is the band that did "born slippy" as famous from trainspotting

starts off funky. sounds like music from "the sims" at times (especially Percolator) I was sad when the album finished as I wouldn't mind more.

OVERRATED, 2.5 from me don't @ me yes it has some bops. yes it invented trip hop. it's not that good an album fav track: strangers

very inoffensive, struggle to find anything wrong with it but at the same time, it doesn't really impress?

luv me punk it's a classic alert. definitely an album that started a lot and still holds up surprisingly well, while not sounding exactly modern it still sounds crisp, pleasanat and relevant. not a daily driver but nice in a while

i don't listen to much beatles, but this is what the beatles sound like in my head based on their image. is this a beatles clone from the same time period or something innovative before their time? 2.5 - inoffensive, short and tolerable

not as good as the other prince album, but like with 1999 i could see this being a grower.

bangers all round, nice to see where all these classics come from as i have heard many of the songs on this before. i liked it a lot, i actually liked it so much i listened to it again. I think some of the songs would get old after time. 4.5 fav track: save a prayer

id love this on a saturday afternoon. mellow and easy on the ears. not a bad record, can't think of too much wrong with it. murder mystery was a bit much with the different voices 3.5

middle is good but tracks 1, 5 and 6 fucking suck maybe if i was drunk it would sound better

lighthearted fun, makes your head bob and some of the lyrics are surprisingly wholesome. little weak towards the end (e.g 2much 2 young), solid 3.33 (recurring)

i like the instrumentals quite a lot but the voice just really doesn't do it for me. It sounds like a budget "the national" but kind of fake and just not good? a bunch of the songs sound familiar - definitely heard DLZ before (maybe on Mr Robot?) ah, i looked it up and it's Breaking Bad • S2E10 from 2009, the 'stay out of my territory' scene :) other than that one track i actually have very little desire to listen to this again even though i feel it could grow on me. 1.5

nice piano mellow loungey jazz variety of vocals is nice some of the later tracks were a bit too bluesy? but i liked it 3.5

how many times can someone say nigga the tracks with flying lotus / thundercat are groovy as fuck. some other tracks have their moments but ones like 'alright' drag the album down quite a bit. it's also pretty long for a rap album.

CLASSIC ALERT one of the first albums i regularly listened to, back in high school. (though i usually listened to my whole collection on shuffle)... anyway, i already know it quite well. there is not really a bad track on this, some are overplayed sure (teen spirit) but the rest are relatively less known and very very good. it's close to a 5....

i like some of their more recent stuff. this is actually pretty dated but some very solid electronic music. not sure which genre to class this as, it's a bit all over the place but with a debut album i guess they didn't have a clear identity? i like this but im not sure it tips into a 4

i like wu tang, i like 36 chambers and this has more of the same method man aesthetic. a defining 90s hip hop album

its alright. sounds quite dated

the first track (and the last) both gave me a major headache. this has some potential in places but is otherwise unfortunately just onanistic 60s drivel. #boomerreview

folky, some nice tunes and nice demonstrations of the singer's talent but at times it gets a bit screechy reasonably pleasant to listen to but ultimately forgettable, none of the songs grabbed my attention and that is a shame

warming and gentle, this was a pretty mellow record nothing outstanding but very little to complain about, solid 3

it was a 3 until space cowboy hit funky music but the vocals dont really do it for me

i know this one :) this is one of the best hip-hop albums of all time, for me. it has a unique sound, great lyrics, terrific delivery, is catchy and never gets old. the only criticism i have of it is that some of the skitty bits between the tracks are a bit over the top or dated, but its a very solid 4 for me

holy moly this album has a lot of banging singles on it, to be honest i had no idea this is where they came from and that these were all from the same band. very decent blend of r&b / disco that i will almost definitely listen to again (even if as singles..)

a pretty decent album but a bit gritty, not the best the chillis have to offer. strong 3

i knew a couple of singles from this (aqualung and locomotive breath). really strong prog record that i thoroughly enjoyed

slow paced but pretty decent rapping and flows. however some of the beats get repetitive quickly also there are quite a few moments in this that are sampled by other artists, i think i liked the cereal one. average 3 i think, its just a bit too dated

pretty nice actually, strawberry letter was either sampled or ripped off in the song 'ms jackson' - its so similar. doesnt quite earn a 4

what a BANGA you must be a SOYA eater if you dont like this record and BETO get a better music taste! this is pretty unique, i like this way more than the recent african record. has some real good groove and character to it, nice melodies.

fucking dishwasher advert song. also, zappa feature, nice. starts of okay and the idea is good, spanish electronic thing but some tracks (santa maria) get quite repetetive. some nice tracks that feel almost trip-hoppy at the end. 3.5, i dont think its quite captivating enough for a 4

so i watched the hot ones with her recently, why does her singing not have an NZ accent? doesn't even sound like her also she's only 24? looking at interviews she really changed between 2014 and 2017 (when this came out), almost like its not the same person i dont mind the voice too much but sometimes she does this... idk what to call it, inflection? that im not a fan of. some pretty good although bog standard poppy tunes with a gospel kinda vibe. her (not yet out) album and the singles from it are much more compelling, this is more of a 'talentedish girl pumping out pop tunes with a slight unique angle' Light 3

definitely a musical journey. hard to score this one without listening to it 5+ times to really work out what to make of it, it is quite long. im erring on the side of 4 because theres a lot i want to go back to and listen and the album flows very well.

i like 'little dark age' a lot, obviously ive heard the bops from this one but somehow never listened to the album. it's really good, im a big fan of the vocals, the synths pack a punch on every track... what's not to like? strong 4 that i could see myself growing on

I'm more of a 'the eminem show' guy (love that album) but this too is eminem at his best, delivering dark, emotionally powerful lines while maintaining his tongue in cheek humour. all along a fast, aggressive and clean flow backed by excellent production? (produced by dr.dre btw) strong 4

hmmm, i wasn't feeling this too much but 'house of cards', 'jigsaw..' made me rethink my scoring. jigsaw is a very nice track. opener was not great. I think in the right mood it could be a 4 but too much of a mishmash after 1 listen. 3

to be honest they get a bad rep for the album that was preloaded onto apple gear but this album is really rather good, that 3 track opener is almost 5 worthy and the rest of the album takes their music in a few different directions. happy to give this a 4 and listen again

an interesting assortment of sounds, loses half a point for the imagine cover and is pretty long for an album of this type. i could see myself listening to this once a year but thats about it. nice experience.

not feeling quite a few songs on this one unfortunately

a little conflicted on this one, i've heard of janis joplin before but i never listened. very unique voice, and a pretty interesting record but some of the instrumentals are a little rough around the edges. i think it's a strong 3 as a 'first pass' review and i could see it being a 4 if in the mood for it...

something about this really hits the spot! it's the first album that i didn't already know that I considered giving a 5. a lot of the guitar sounds and tones are phenomenal, example second half of 'the sprawl', candle... those moments are my highlights of the album and I don't think there are enough to justify the 5 as some of the upbeat tracks are weaker. same stance on nick as before, not a massive fan of the spoken word vocals, this just feels dull rather than something creative or interesting.

hey i know this one (shout out to jesse) for a debut indie album by a band this is spectacular. the tone of the album with the light reverb, beautiful dreamy vocals and acoustic guitar, cannot be matched. their later albums riff on this formula but this is executed to perfection? i had a paragraph here about how this isn't quite good enough to be a 5. i listened to it again and removed the paragraph :-)

this feels like a movie soundtrack rather than an album while kinda pretty, simple but effective instrumentals and a nice vocalist, i somehow found this lacking of any real soul apart from on the odd track. (neon valley street) 2 because i was disappointed.
