Idlewild
Everything But The Girlincredibly boring. would not listen again.
incredibly boring. would not listen again.
A little more in the way of vocals than the previous Kraftwerks album, still DEFINITELY not my thing though.
Awful. Sounded like Joni Mitchel, if she were terrible.
Little slow for me.
what did i just listen to?
Pretty monotonous. Not a bad listen though.
Meh, relatively boring. Some high points, the killing moon reminded me a little of machine punch through by moist.
a lot of it sounds like if you mixed the clash with surf music.
not for me.
Surf punk!
little jam bandy at times, kept my head bobbing throughout though. not bad,
Not bad, definitely not their best.... didnt enjoy the production of it, vocals were too low on a lot of the album.
interesting, sounds very heavily influenced by Blur.
Finally an album i know! Still a classic.
Really enjoyed this one.
Sounds a lot like Auntie Christ. Pretty enjoyable, would listen again.
really good, cant believe i never listened to this before.
very dark at times. not my thing, but not bad.
Still awesome!
Really enjoyable, not sure why i never got into these guys. Like a nice mix of Rancid, Less Than Jake, and indie rock.
Enjoyed it, some recognizable songs.
Production quality leaves a lot to be desired. Seems like there's some good songs in here, but it just sounds like noise, or is too quiet most of the time.
Not bad, it all kind of blended together though, nothing stood out.
Not my thing... jazz that turned into weird hip hop.
Was OK, a couple of stand out tracks amongst some really weird one. Definitely can see why i never got into this band though.
pretty good, seemed like a mix of metal, punk and hardcore.
Sounds like if you mixed the Specials and the Clash together. Mostly enjoyable but nothing really stood out on it.
Pretty boring listen, not good, not bad. Just kinda there.
Rio, Hungry Like the Wolf and the cover art are definitely the standouts here. Mostly enjoyable though.
Pretty meh... what i expected more or less though i guess.
not bad, sounded like 90s rock/pop, lots of acoustic guitar. some darker sounds to it.
unremarkable early british punk. all kind of blended together.
Very clearly the inspiration for Flogging Molly, sounds like a lot of Flogging Molly's more ballad-ish stuff. Really enjoyable, wish i would have discovered this a long time ago.
relatively boring listen, but interesting sound.
lots of noise, did not enjoy.
pretty enjoyable, would be interesting to hear these songs with a full band. Would like to listen again sometime and really focus more on the lyrics.
incredibly boring. would not listen again.
pretty upbeat & very poppy but really good. would listen again, can see why they are so highly regarded.
lots of recognizable songs, enjoyable listen.
really good early punk. would listen again.
Up tempo stuff was good, slower more ambient songs were pretty boring.
Sounded like Tilt at times, pretty good.
Relatively uninspired brit punk.
More uninspired brit punk.
very enjoyable, very indie sound, maybe kinda like Sleater Kinney?... Would listen again.
Exactly what i would have expected. Not great, not bad.
More enjoyable than i would have thought.... almost like if you mixed the Doors with the Black Keys.
Super boring. Maybe a little like Enya? Very ambient/ethereal..... not much in the way of actual instrumentation.
mix of ska, metal, punk, and funk.... the blend reminds me of Skankin Pickle a bit. I can see why this was such an influential band. Solid album.
Really enjoyed the upbeat songs. Production quality wasnt great but I really loved the guitar sound on a number of the songs.
Pretty similar to the last Pogues album i listened to... maybe a little less diverse with the song tempos, structure? Good listen.
Doesnt seem as 'surfy' as i remember their last one i listened to being. Very lo-fi, straight up punk most of the time.
Only 3 tracks were available on Spotify, one being our house. This album gets a 3 for that song alone. The other two tracks were pretty good, one sounded a lot like the Specials.
Pretty funky 80's synth. Only knew one or two songs, but pretty enjoyable. Wouldnt go out of my way to listen again.
A little more in the way of vocals than the previous Kraftwerks album, still DEFINITELY not my thing though.
Super boring. Sounds like a whole album of the most boring Police song ever.
Exactly what youd expect from the Talking Heads, relatively enjoyable.
A punk album! Pretty good, Sex Pistols are never a first choice, but this was enjoyable.
A few songs missing from Spotify. Overall a really enjoyable listen. Pretty poppy but with some good punk vibes at times.
I mean.... I'll listen but dont really need to. Holds up incredibly well.
Fantastic, I love Elvis & need to listen to him more. This has a lot of recognizable songs on it.
Did not enjoy.... lots of noise and illegible vocals, but in a horrible way.
Surprisingly good. Some CIV and Pennywise vibes, very heavy on lead guitar/solos. Guitars were kinda 80s metal sounding at times, and 2000s garage at other times. Excellent Bowie cover to end the album. Very close to a 4 star.
Pretty meh. British rock, I guess?
Way more 'punk' than i was expecting. Thought it was going to be more 80's new wave-y, but was mostly more of an early crusty punk sound. Pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it.
Sounded like a bad version of KISS, lots of covers, maybe all covers? Not sure.... did not enjoy though.
Kinda jam band-y.... not my thing, but not terrible.
Sounded like Spinal Tap at times, but without the guitar solos. Surfy rock with some punk vibes at times. Pretty meh.
Super boring british pop. Some slow suff, some upbeat.
What a dyslexic nightmare of an album. British 2nd or 3rd wave ska, mixed with punk and funk.... some very low brow content. Did not enjoy.
More Talking Heads! definitely a little weirder than the last album i listened to of theirs. Had some recognizable tracks, and some really kind of dark stuff. All in all relatively enjoyable, but not their best. Tough call, want to give it a 2.5.
Gets a 3 on the merit of Come On Eileen alone. Only one other recognizable song, but spotify was missing a bunch of tracks. Pretty folky at times, poppy at other times.
Pretty mundane British new wave. Not bad by any means though.
Excellent album. A couple of slower songs that weren't great, but almost all bangers.
Never really listened to the Smiths, now i see why... that was pretty boring. 80's british pop pretty much.
Like stepping in a time machine.... fine for what it is (mix of female hip/hop and pop), but definitely not my thing.
Awful. Sounded like Joni Mitchel, if she were terrible.
Kinda like Duran Duran. Relatively enjoyable listen.
Not his best, had a overly produced 80's quality to a lot of it. Still enjoyable though.
Relatively enjoyable. Kinda slow at times, really enjoyed the more upbeat stuff.
Still amazing. Definitely their best album.
super short songs, gutter punk basically. not my thing.
Pretty good listen, better overall than the album with Come On Eileen.
kind of an odd choice here.... it was fine, not somethng i really want to listen to though.
weird. kinda punk, sometimes funky, or jam band-y. lots of super short songs. Not my thing.
Pretty impressive for its time. It walked some fine line between punk, the doors, pop, surf music....with really good instrumentation throughout and some interesting songs. Very organ heavy. Not necessarily something i would listen to much, but noteworthy nonetheless.
Not all that interesting, probably was somewhat revolutionary for its time.
wait... Blister in the sun came out in 1983!!!???? WTF???? Interesting album overall after getting over the intial shock of how old it was. Some of the songs were a bit grating to listen to. I generallty liked it though.
Meh, pretty boring. Sounded a little like devo and talking heads combined possibly?
Not bad, sounds a little like Elvis Costello. I probably listen to this again.
Seemingly way ahead of its time. Production could have been better but overall early great early punk that could have easily fit in with early 2000's music.
Not great, kinda like flogging molly and the clash mixed together.
Crusty early punk with surprisingly tight musicianship and solid drumming. Spotify only had 4 tracks available, would love to hear more.
somewhat like cheap trick.... but maybe mixed with the beatles?
80's talking heads kind of a sound, but not as good.
More upbeat than the last album of his, less ballad-ey. Really enjoyable.
decidely 80's, Duran Duran-esque. Pretty meh.
a little like that digital Autobahn stuff, mostly instrumental & very ethereal. not great.
idk what i just listened to. lots of noise, not much good music. super weird vocal styles, almost makes the talking heads singer sound normal. did not enjoy.
Did not enjoy. Weird rock, sounded like Queen at times. Very difficult to undwerstand any of the vocals, it was all very high pitched.
Bluesy rock from the 60s. Sounds at times like The Beatles, Doors, Beach Boys, Animals..... super unoffensive, moderately enjoyable.
Grungy/crusty early brit punk, pretty unremarkable. Lots of short songs with similar tempos.
Grungy, noisy early alt rock. Not bad but not something i would listen to again, would rather put on Nirvana for sure.
