Mull Historical SocietyA real treat!
A real treat!
I used to listen to Ani DiFranco often enough but this one came after that phase. It's varied and sophisticated. Thank you for the submission, friend!
I'd heard about this as a show but had never really followed through with finding anything out about it. It's lovely. Thank you!
I didn't think I had it in me to listen to 80 minutes of anything today but I was wrong. Thank you, I loved it!
This is great! It's like Nick Cave + Tom Waits + Foetus + Squirrel Nut Zippers + it's own thing. Wow! Thank you!
This is an excellent start to the User Submitted Albums. I loved the retro feel of it with a more modern take. I will listen again.
I'm so glad someone submitted this one. It means a lot to me.
Nice and short!
Much more interesting as it went on. Glad to have heard it.
Wowwwwwww! I did not expect that. How could I expect that? That was amazing! Well done, fellow hall-of-famer. This album has enriched my life.
Apparently I tried to get into TOOL about 10 years ago. I found three of their albums in my library, each of which showed a handful of plays. It must not have taken because I have no memory of doing this.
We all know I'm a sucker for a rock opera.
When it started, I kind of hated it. And then Lavender kicked in and hit me in the nostalgia bone, reminding me of some of my best times and best people, and by the end I kind of loved it.
Yes! I liked it! It's great!
I know nothing of Procol Harum save Whiter Shade... but this was thoroughly enjoyable. Reminded me of Cat Stevens, early Genesis/Peter Gabriel, Jethro Tull, and, yeah, tbh sometimes it sounded just like Whiter Shade of Pale. Liked it anyway. Lots.
Holy Moly! Who would've thought that something called The Burning Hell could make me so happy? Super good!
Y'all are killing it with your selections. No matter what kind of music you like, you'll find something here that appeals to you. Lots of different styles and, maybe not every song is the greatest, but most are darn good. Thanks a lot!
Stevens may not be for everyone but he sure is for me. This is lovely and poignant. A new favorite.
Oh my goodness. So good! Thank you!
I've never been much of a Springsteen fan and when I saw a two-hour live album I said no way. BUT I loved it. Like the best live albums, it made me wish I was there. I may now be a fan.
Well this was just lovely. Excellent choice!
Listening to this filled me with a visceral sense of unease, almost fear. I have two analogies: I had a dream once where I walked into a stranger's living room and I somehow knew by their choice of couch that they meant me harm. I didn't know why the couch meant that --- it was familiar in the dream but not something from real life --- but I was sure of it and it was terrifying enough for my partner to wake me up from my audible distress. Or here's a hypothetical: choose someone close to you that you've known your whole life, a parent or a sibling, say. For the sake of illustration, I'm gonna say your dad but you choose your own person if "dad" doesn't work for you. You find out that your dad has a brother that you didn't know about. Then you meet that brother, expecting that he'll have some family resemblance, that he'll look and maybe act enough like your dad that it's obvious that they're related. BUT it turns out that THEY ARE IDENTICAL TWINS! So you're meeting someone that you do not know but they're in the body of someone you know and love. That's unsettling, right? That's how I felt listening to Roger Waters The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking. It's The Wall, something I know very well and love, in a different body. The same but unfamiliar. Unsettling. So, did I like it? Hard to assess. I love The Wall and don't feel like I need another one, a lesser one. But also, I love The Wall so does it make sense not to like something that sounds so much like it? I don't know. Ultimately, I like that I listened to it and that's what I'm here for. Not to like everything but to learn some stuff. If I could give Waters one note, though, it wouldn't be about the music. It would probably be to request that we give the lady on the cover some pants, a jacket, and some comfortable shoes.
Fun!
I'm not sure I needed another Marillion album but Cannibal Surf Babe and Afraid of Sunrise were totally worth it.
This was very nice. Distinct from the others. I'll admit that I didn't pay much attention after the first 45 minutes or so but I certainly enjoyed it.
I can't believe this didn't make the 1001 list. Travesty! This is, like the title said, a bunch of absolute delights. Well chosen, friend!
Again, surprised this wasn't on the list. Nostalgia out the yang!
I have loved several tracks from this album for a very long time. Descent Into the Inferno is one of my faves.
A little Billy Bragg, a little of The Pogues, some Stiff Little Fingers, but from 2019? I liked it!
A very nice surprise! I loved it!
Wait. What?
This is great! It's like Nick Cave + Tom Waits + Foetus + Squirrel Nut Zippers + it's own thing. Wow! Thank you!
This would've fit perfectly among my cassette tapes in college. I would've put it in my walkman for my commute to campus and play it every day. I loved this rocking good time.
Oh, I like this a lot. Thank you!
Amazing. So good. I teared up a couple of times. Thank you!
So fun! So good! Thanks!
I was a bit put off at first by the long run-time but I needn't have worried. I danced through the whole thing.
Quirky and fun.
I used to listen to Ani DiFranco often enough but this one came after that phase. It's varied and sophisticated. Thank you for the submission, friend!
An absolute gem of an album. Thank you!
Nostalgic and fun.
Based on the cover, I was reluctant to listen to this on a high anxiety day. But on a high rage day, it was just the ticket. It's got a timeless energy and I quite liked most of it.
A real treat!
Fantastic!
Absolutely gorgeous.
This guy wins first prize in the Nick Cave soundalike contest I just held in my head. I liked it.
Gave me Travis Wall memories from Season 2 of So You Think You Can Dance. Very nice.
Not my thing, but I'm glad you like it.
So lovely. A favorite of mine.
This album sits very high on my top shelf of albums. It makes me very happy.
Different!
Really good with headphones!
Aside from a couple of songs that sound particularly dated, I really appreciated this. Very nice!
Surprised this wasn't on the list! It's nice!
Oh! They're from Poway!
Wonderful! Thank you.
So glad this is here. One of my favorites.
Lovely lovely lovely lovely lovely.
Wonderful. Thank you!
So fun! Thanks!
Fun and nostalgic and I can't believe he wasn't on the list to begin with. Thanks!
Delightful! Thank you!
I appreciate this more now than when it was fresh. Respect!
Is there anyone my age who doesn't love Wouldn't It Be Good?
Wonderful! Merci!
I didn't think I had it in me to listen to 80 minutes of anything today but I was wrong. Thank you, I loved it!
Powerful!
I'd heard about this as a show but had never really followed through with finding anything out about it. It's lovely. Thank you!
Oh! Very nice!
Well, that's just lovely. Thank you.
Phenomenal! Could not be better.
A dear friend of mine really loved The Posies but I never bothered to listen. I'm glad I listened today. It felt just right!
A little Springsteen-y, a little Warren Zevon-y maybe? I warmed up to it.
Satire? Sure hope so!
Nice! I like it!
Unusual and oddly relaxing.
Catchy as heck!
It's been a long time since I listened to this. I forget how much I like it. 🐽
Fantastic!
I put off listening to this for two months convinced it would not suit my mood. What was wrong with me? I loved it!
Well I was apprehensive about avant garde metal but this was a great listen.
Loud and big and theatrical. I can imagine a day when it might seem too much but that day is not today.
