1001 Albums Summary

Excellent. Never heard of them. But resonates with a lot of good music.

It’s a 2.5 for me. The first half is edgey funk which I really enjoyed. But unfortunately this fizzled out.

I thought I had seen the back of late 60s psychedelica.

Love this album. Could have nominated it myself. It’s only negative is that is needs Wikipedia to explain the plot fully

I was going to nominate this. Absolutely 5* album from left field. Who knows what it is about, but who cares. Low fi brilliance. An indie classic.

As an Irishman I feel like I’m betraying Damien by not rating him higher. It is a cover I see everywhere, but it’s quite samey and the lowkey vibe tires after a while. Couple of great tunes, love Cannonball.

1 star. Not because it is terrible. It just doesn’t belong on this list. A couple of pop hits does not an album make. Ironically I was a fan back in the day! My brother once called me out for wearing my runners untied a la Nic K. Highly embarrassing.

Liking this post list list less

Love it. I discovered Teenage Fanclub from their compilation album “Four Thousand….” So I was spoiled and took a while to go back to their discography.

Non eventful

Illinois(e) was the first album of 1001. I’d never heard it and it is one of my favourite albums to this day. Unfortunately not every day was like that 1st. This is not bad, but not as good as

What’s not to like. 27 songs in 50 mins. Shades of punk, pixies and the clash. Plenty of energy.

Amazing album. Complete oversight from the original list as pointed out by most of the recent reviewers. Saw them recently in Dublin, this album still makes up a significant part of their excellent set list. Only downside to them live, is that you don’t get anything extra you just get the songs but that’s a separate discussion.

Do I really have to face this today. I’m on my holidays 😂 I was too quick to judge. The point of the list is you have to do every day. Give every album the time. This is a lot more lyrical with comprehensible lyrics. Some a bit corny. The drummer is fantastic. I could not imagine him performing a full gig. Maybe there are 2

I have given out about live albums before. They are cheating, ie a way of sneaking a greatest hits onto the list. H O W E V E R To be fair, this album gives us more. The mixes give us much more. I might reconsider my choice for an album

A few comments on this one: 1. I’m a Weezer fan. With only 18 votes before me, I can influence this with a 5* 2. This is not their best imo. However a few tracks shine 3. Was interested to read. This has an edgier sound to mimic the live sound. I saw them live this summer. For me they are only ok, my criticism is that they sound identical to the albums and don’t add to songs.
