The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
GenesisThis is Gabriel Genesis at its peak (in my humble opinion)…he is about to break from them and forge his own path.
This is Gabriel Genesis at its peak (in my humble opinion)…he is about to break from them and forge his own path.
Loved this fusion of jazz, world and funk.
This is a quintessential Zepplin, full-throated and full of rage, sex and passion.
Ethereal, shades of Dylan, psychedelic, and a strong sense of adventure, abandon and inventiveness. Lou Reed and Nico's voice are quirky and perfectly paired with the minimal and rich aural landscapes provided in this now iconic album.
Nope. No way. This is violent, profane bullshit.
Ummm..I really don’t get. Lots of rage and lots of noise…not very musical.
One of the cleanest and vibrant live recordings…this band is perfectly balanced with the roar of the crowd.
Innovative, an instant classic with so many signature and hummable hooks. The opening track with it's eastern influence is arresting to the ear.
This is primo Elton - his piano playing, vocals, composition...however, I think equal tribute needs to be give to his writing partner Bernie Taupin for the amazing lyrics he writes that inspires Elton's melodies. "Levon" has soaring lines and that unusual word/name is apt for the take-off. The haunting closing track "Goodbye" is waiting for its cinematic moment.
Hmmm...captivating at first, then it remains more of the same to my ears.
Great combo of folk, rock and blues…that CS&N vibe. Texas roots definitely showing through!
Blissful, joyful, stealthy funk. Experimental and easy on the ears…guests like Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald…so fun. Kenderick Lamar can mute.
Thé Americanized version of Bowie crossed with Leonard Cohen. One of a kind and equally minimal and lush simultaneously. I particularly love the unexpected turns of images, music and vocals. “Sad Song” starts with beautiful strings and why this song hasn’t exploded onto a cinematic soundtrack is an opportunity waiting to happen.
Oh delicious Germans and their electronic synth proclivities. This is uber creative with ambient sounds and some orchestral accompanying the quirky, catchy and enjoyable. Still sounds and feels fresh.
Nuclear Irish Punk is how’d I’d best describe this. Loads of energy, heart, and fusion. Akin to the 4/4 version of Bravo Combo’s 3/4 treatment.
Ugh. No, i just can’t get into rap as a form of music.
Unique fusion of prog rock, indie rock, and alternative in one. Very musical and pleasant to the ear.
Essential blues with such assuredness, ruggedness and clarity to the soul and heart of quintessential American music.
This really grabbed me. Musical and epic.
Blue-eyed soul done right early 80s style. Boy George is a great songwriter and his production value in this (especially with powerhouse supporting vocals by Helen Terry) augment the album fully..
A pleasant folk surprise…feeling fresh and nostalgic simultaneously.
Loved this fusion of jazz, world and funk.
In the realm of Windham Hill though sometimes more percussive with his keyboard usage. Excellent and sensitive recording live, can only hear the audience when you want.
Nope
Power personified. Great sick beats and string ideas and production quality.
Classic and soulful jewel of the South, infused with R&B, folk and gospel into an unmatched voice. Gone too soon.
Early manifestation of Bjork fusion, edge and creativity in terms of instrumentation, experimentation of vocals…but infused with more punk.
Classic new wave with a lush and soothing voice of Morrissey.
Meh. Grunge schmunge
Prog nerdy rock
Meh. 90s nondescript sound
Oh so bluesy, groovy, jazzy and 60s. Guest Stanley Turrentine is a big plus. Organ jazz at its finest.
Prog nerdy rock at its best.
Meh…a lot o guitar and drums. Didn’t do anything for me then or now.
Iconic opening track though it changes and morphs into a glorious sound from its eerie start. Diverse.
R&B meets Gospel with this soulful voice.
This is Gabriel Genesis at its peak (in my humble opinion)…he is about to break from them and forge his own path.
Fun and kitschy 50s music. A real blast from the past.
Soulful, deep lyrics and rich music. Cohen packs more emotion and meaning in one line than most do an entire album or career. His voice is a bit of an acquired one, but be patient…he is worth it.
Nope. Zero appeal to me.
Lush yet simple and very heartfelt production quality.
Nope
Lus and unique soundscape with influences of Pavement to Pink Floyd in there.
Beautiful harmonies and the generational sound of that hippie era infused with lots of pot.
Nondescript 90s white boys with angst.
One of the better of the hair band entries from the 80s. Variety of sound, production value, musicality in terms of melody, musicianship, harmonies. It holds up and certainly defined my high school years.
This is classic and well-craft rock n roll.
Very hip with lots of sound and space.
Blech. Very generic.
Delicious Latin rhythms. Listenable and uplifting full sound.
Tired and old
Melodic and listenable…akin to Indigo Gorls in the realm of pop-folk vibe.
I love this album for its musicality blended with hip-hop. Many a bus trip in high school band had this as the soundtrack.
This man. So talented and soulful.
Zzzzzzzzzzz
Good, offbeat, original, electronic.
American Cult act with definitive British Invasion era influences. A rebellious structure in musicality.
It’s okay but too angst and dirty for me.
No #overrated
90s fare with some punk and Adam & The Ants Infusion.
Got a very 70s vibe
Not in my top 10 of his…but still worthwhile tracks…and his least is most musician’s “more.”
Solid
This is epic and so broad in musical scope…I think I prefer the soundtrack version more, but certainly admire this undertaking!
Tracks 1 & 3 are good, the rest…meh…French thrashing and screaming.
Don’t know how I’ve never heard of this but all kinds of mashup of early 80s…New Romantic, Devo, etc
Love. Though a bit like sériel killer meditation music.
Acid jazz, funk and synth fusion confection!
Disco funk purity!
Groovy
