I feel like reviews will be negative or at least mixed here. This album is definitely not everyone’s thing. It’s quiet, it’s slow, I’d understand if someone called it boring. It has country and blues, but also an element of slowcore that makes it different from other country. This album was recorded in 1988, which predates slowcore by a couple years at least, making this a very unique sound for the time, if not just in general. An album like this is all about time and place. I had it playing late last night as I was staring at the sky, thinking. Perfect for that. If I had played it during the day, wanting something more upbeat, my reception would be different. The soft vocals here are hauntingly beautiful. The mix of covers and originals are kinda cool. The lore surrounding the album is cool. The genre mixing is cool. I’ve been into slowcore recently, so this fitting somewhere into the puzzle of its origin is pretty cool. Put all of that together and I think this album is cool. You could say it lacked real defining moments and that’s fair. But I think albums like this are more about creating an overall vibe and less about making those album defining, standout tracks. I don’t think any of these tracks have a particularly catchy melody so no MMM Favorites: sweet Jane, misguided angel, I don’t get it

Kinda knew what to expect here. Obviously extremely dated, but then again for 1957 some songs really don’t sound too bad. Honestly liked it more than i thought I would. It was only 25 minutes so that’s probably a big part of it, I’m sure I would get sick of it if it was much longer. Also did The Who just totally rip off “Not Fade Away” with “My Generation” or what? Best: Not fade away, that’ll be the day MMM: 🎶MAYBE BABY ILL HAVE YOU, MAYBE BABY YOULL BE TRUE🎶

After first listen: some really good songs here no doubt but unfortunately the album suffers from being watered down by a lot of what I would consider to be filler. After hearing about the circumstances of this album I understand why it’s like that but it doesn’t change my enjoyment. Double albums always suck. Don’t do them. The highs are very high though, i mean it is the Beatles. Just listened again and yeah the second half of this album kinda blows. Favorites: back in the ussr, while my guitar gently weeps, blackbird MMM: BACK IN THE USSR, YOU DONT KNOW HOW LUCKY YOU ARE BOY💂🏼‍♀️

To be transparent here my review may be inflated by me being in the optimal situation to hear this album. I had a 40 minute walk home after work at 1 am. Turned this one on and I’m not sure I’ve ever heard a more beautiful album. All of the instrumentals just had a way of evoking emotion. It was long for sure and I do kinda wish it was in English but when a albums speaks to me in this was I’m more willing to overlook that. Weird one to rate cuz there’s not songs with replay value and I don’t know when I’m gonna listen to it again but I just had a 5/5 experience listening. Best: the first four tracks (not including intro)
