1001 Albums Summary

Clear why this album is on the list. Born in the USA, I'm on fire, glory days, dancing in the dark.. Solid album, wasn't a huge fan of no surrender or my hometown. Sounds very 80s at times but not in a bad way. Lots of lyrics focusing on blue collar America.

Love unfinished sweet. Not a big fan of elected and no more Mr nice guy has been played to death, but a fairly solid album.

Solid live album that I enjoyed more than expected. Certainly plays into the 70s rock era with its overly long guitar and drum solos but the band was better than expected.

Surprising album, very easy listen, would say first half of the record is the stronger half.

VERY 80s,which is funny as the album came out in 1990. Enjoyable album, although several songs felt like they were building to something that never came.

Very 80s. Nothing offensive, but not really rocking my boat. Moments of almost pop punk sounds, but they don't push enough into it.

Not a prince fan apparently. Didn't do anything for me.

Groovy / funky rap. Not bad at all, but not much standing out either.

Liking it more than expected. Not normally my sound and no massive stand outs but a very solid album I was able to get through multiple times without a problem.

First album I couldn't make it through. I'm assuming the off key singing is on purpose, but it doesn't do anything for me.

Meh. British art / prog rock that sounds like it should be out of the 70s not the 90s. And having to use YouTube and listen to adds really hurts the experience.

Songs are short and catchy. Definitely see where grunge got their inspiration.

Fantastic first half of the album, drops off near the end.

Outside of a few songs it sounds almost beach-boy-ish. Despite having my generation I found too much of the rest lacking.

Shocked I had never heard of this group before. Solid brit rock a la Oasis.

Perfectly listenable album that has a very late 80s sound, surprisingly it's from 83. No huge standouts and I don't think there's any of their hits here (admittedly not an REM expert) so it falls a little short of expectations.

Alright, pretty decent but nothing jumping out.

Like a lot of bands that pavement paved the way for, but not feeling this. Individual ingredients are there but just never mixed into something special.

Obviously it's the Beatles. Album is weaker on the back half

His odd Elvis impersonation and a few instrumental tracks drag this down.

Easy listen. Songs not nearly as long as I expected based on genre and release year. Couple of really solid songs but the rest passed by without leaving much of a mark.

Has that classic early 90s hard rap sound, but holy misogyny batman. Nothing really standing out and certainly not something I want to be heard listening to.

Outside of Clint Eastwood it was a surprisingly dull listen.

Expected Madonna on this list as she is renowned, but not this album. Way too much bad autotune and the worst American pie cover ever.

Meh. Very forgettable album mainly focused on his dick. At least it's short.

Was very listenable for an older country album. Very solid lyrics, flag decal sounds like it could have been written in the past few years.

Another star, isn't she lovely, and love in bed of love today were the standouts. Very solid and listenable for such a large album.

Classic 80s rock

Sorry but sweet. Enjoyed it more than I expected to.

Super solid album, so close to five stars. I'm a little surprised that of all the Beatles George Harrison would be my favorite but here we are.

Ridiculous song length. Amazing voice, obviously, but the songs aren't that exciting.

Amazing. beautiful melodies, guitar work, and one of the nicer voices in modern rock. A proper album beginning to end, nice to see such a big song as the closer, where usually albums loose stream as they go

Not a bad album, but there's at least 3 better Bowie albums that deserve the spot.

Not as polished as nevermind, but in a way it makes it more of a proper grunge album. Tons of hits still, can't go wrong, 5 star

Alright 80s pop album,but certainly nothing special. and the 47 interludes detract.

Some highs and lows. Gets a little out there for me, and very repetitive in the middle bits. Ends on a high note.

Jesus. In what universe is the noise being created here once of the 1001 albums you need to hear? I try hard not to yuck other's yums, but this is just garbage.

Love sympathy for the devil, and some nicer tracks with an almost country sound to them. Does dip hard later in the album.

Holy repetitive batman. Glad the genre evolved beyond this or it would be long gone by now. Lots of catchy beats but the repetition kills me.
