Welcome To The Pleasuredome
Frankie Goes To HollywoodFun. Didn't realize they did covers as well. Enjoyed the album.
Fun. Didn't realize they did covers as well. Enjoyed the album.
A new experience for me. At first I was very put off by the vocalist's off key voice, but it suits the lyrics. I can't listen to this as background music ... yet. Over time I may be able too, but there is so much crazy in this, that my mind keeps getting drawn in to the sound and lyrics.
Cool sound. Somewhat repetitious sound but still very soothing. Listened to the whole album.
British sound of the 90s. Seems to be popular in the UK, but I didn't know about it.
A classic. On my playlists all the time. Great sound that is ageless. I did not to listen to it until I was in my 20s, and at that time I was very resistant to new music, especially because the association of this album was that one was a stoner. When I was able to really listen to the sound, lyrics and theme, I was enthralled.
New music to me. Engafing and lively.
Very busy and energetic. Definitely James Brown!
Good sound. Reminds me of early U2. I remember listening to them in the late 200Xs and didn't really enjoy them. I felt their sound was too hard. This time, I really enjoyed the sound and album.
Very lively. Nice sound. The lead singer doesn't have a range, but he has a quality. Very guitar heavy.
First time actually listening to Gorillaz. Didn't expect to enjoy this, but I did. Great variety of styles. I like the atmosphere and the method of blending the sound wall. The vocals are great. Will listen to other albums.
A great album. Mix of styles, and energetic.
I did recognize one track. Other than that this is a new experience. Very energetic. I can see myself listening to this when I want to be a lot of energy in the music I am listening to.
I have heard some of these before. Really enjoyed the very chaotic and spontaneous sound. The little sprinkles of each instrument together gives such a great sound.
The sound of Nirvana. Another first time listening to the album. I have had different tracks before. I hear the angst in the songs. This is not meant for when you are in a good mood. This is not really my taste. I do appreciate the craftmanship, despite the attempt to make it seem like they don't care.
Great album. Many classic songs, that I recognize. I listened to the lyrics this time, not just a radio play, where it was a distraction. I understand why his music helped define rock & roll.
Urban hip hop? Not sure how to classify this style. Not rap. The album wasn't boring. Not sure it will go on a list of albums that I would listen to again, but it was a good feel to it.
Always a great listening experience.
I hear some country and western, but the style is more lounge. I felt like I entered a small bar in the 1950s ... I think the slide guitar is what makes the sound so C & W. K. D. is a great singer. A treat to hear the full album.
I have heard this album was explicit. Definitely not for younger listeners, unless you want to explain some of the terms. I do enjoy the leads voice, and tone. There is a range there, but there is also a certain monotone in some songs. Definitely a passionate album. This whole album has energy and vitality that distinguishes it from other artists. I can't judge properly, but I think there is an authenticity that resonates from the lyrics and stark sounds. I would listen to this again. It isn't a style I would listen to regularly, nor do I identify the different personas that exist within the songs, but I enjoy the unique sound and rhythm that is in this collection.
First track and ninth track are wonderful. The rest were well done as well, but not as well known. It was a great album.
I recognize a few of the songs. Over all I enjoyed it listening to the whole album, but not my style. I think I have a lot of baggage around KISS. Not my type of band, as they have been very commercialized and associated with philosophies that are inconsistent with what I value. I would not put this on a favourite list.
My first time listening to this album, maybe even all of the songs. Very different from what I thought the music would be. Spoken word was very unexpected. Reminds me of Bob Dylan, but maybe that was the time and place of the album. I imagine the band being high, and intense like all the songs. This seems very punk in the sound, and intensity. Not sure about his one. I think I should listen to it again, and determine if I am drawn at all to the sound. It might be that this will create a soundworm in the future. I also think this was influential in music, and I should be able to hear these sounds,. voices and concepts in other later bands.
I had a different experience with this album. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy it, but instead I didn't understand it. All the songs were a very lopsided love story. It didn't have any emotional tweaks that were there when I was younger. I think I outgrew this one.
Good sound, great energy, and some of the songs I had heard before. Enjoyed the album. Would listen to it again.
At first I was intrigued by the style, but this isn't for me. It has energy, but I found myself wanting to listen to something different by the end of the album. I had not heard of this band or album before.
I enjoyed all but one of the tracks. I think I want to listen to a studio version of the Grateful Dead, as I found the live very distorted. Maybe that is why people like their sound though. I would listen to a non-live version of some of the songs.
Good music. "I still remember". I have heard a few of these songs, and really enjoyed them. I enjoyed listening to the whole album.
Listened to some of the album, but wasn't enthused, so I skipped the rest.
Nice "easy" listening. It is some what frenetic music, but I think that is the appeal. This is jazz during the 1950s after all ...
I have heard this album, and still remember the energy around it. It's message isn't for me. I don't relate to the lyrics at all. I do enjoy the soundscape though. Would I recommend it? Probably, but with some caveats.
Listened to it, but nothing outstanding about it.
Familiar sound and voice. Enjoyed it because the lyrics were personal, and the narrative of each song reflects this. I would put this on a playlist..
I am not a big fan of Oasis. It was great to listen to a whole album, as I think I only heard them in a video or perhaps on the radio.
Have not heard these songs before. I didn't mind them, but knowing a bit about Kanye West is was a distraction. I would not add this to a playlist because of his image, and some of his public statements.
I have listened to other albums of Herbie Hancock, but this was the first time I have heard this one. I enjoyed it. Very energetic. I could tell it was HH right away. Same familiar sounds and vibe.
I have many of these on the radio as they are rock classics. It was a good listen.
It wasn't that bad. I expected to absolutely despise it, but I found that it was actually easy to listen to. I didn't like the repetition of the beat.
Really enjoyed this album. It was the right tempo, lyrics were meaningful, and the atmosphere of the record resonated with me.
It was a pleasant listen. I found it was very similar to Oasis. Not a copy, but something about it was similar.
Wow, I thought I knew Iggy Pop based on the radio play he had in my younger days. A very different sound and atmosphere than I expected. Some of the songs have a 50s b-bop sound. All of the lyrics and vocals can be understood. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Classic Zeppelin.
Interesting lyrics and sound. Strong guitars throughout. I could see this artist playing in local bars and pubs. It was very folksy.
A new experience for me. At first I was very put off by the vocalist's off key voice, but it suits the lyrics. I can't listen to this as background music ... yet. Over time I may be able too, but there is so much crazy in this, that my mind keeps getting drawn in to the sound and lyrics.
Very classic 60s music. Very enjoyable. Didn't notice how much it sounded so much like the 30s style of music.
Classic rock. Wonderful album. Great voice. Very talented.
Different then expected. Does have different styles. Enjoyed listening to it.
Good music. Reminded me of Tracy Chapman. Enjoyed the listen.
Started the album but didn't enjoy it.
Very lively. Enjoyed the sound and energy.
Classic rock. Very recognizable and full of energy. Great Album.
Probably great Heavy metal but I am not a fan.
Enjoyed the 70s sound. Great vocals and strong guitar
There is a lot of industrial sound in this, which I didn't expect. I could listen to this again, and even use it for background music when focusing.
This brought back memories of working the overnight shift in a factory, and this album was playing. Sometimes on repeat. It has the standard Who sound and quality. It is a great piece of music history, which is worthwhile revisiting again and again.
Nice mixing of electronic music. Really has the 80's sound. Not sure if this just a copy of that sound or the originator of it? First time listening.
Didn't listen to the full album. It was good. Not for me though.
This album was easy to listen to. Lyrics were good, melodies were pleasing. Good one.
I thought I would love this album. I found it the actual sounds very repetitive. That doesn't make it bad, just I don't remember anything distinctive about any song. Still great music, just not as memorable as I'd hope.
I have not listened to this band before, but I have friends that are fans of them. I expected it to be a harder and heavier sound, but it was not. I enjoyed the differences between the songs, as it wasn't always the same.
A very pleasant surprise. This was not as Avant Garde as I expected. Maybe it was for the time, but it stands up to today's standards of a good solid sound and lyrics.
Enjoyed the songs. I was surprised by the variety in the music.
Good album. Classic rock
Enjoyed the album. Atmospheric. Not what I remember of Wilco.
Lively, very good quality harmonies and melodies. But not for me.
Great music. Enjoyed the earnestness and honesty of the lyrics.
full of excellent songs.
I have heard this album many times. Wonderful. Fully deserves to be on this list. The quality of playing, and the great recording of this album is top notch.
Frank Zappa is the pioneer of alternative rock. This proves. It is a great album but not one that I would put as a top of any lists. I appreciate that I was able to listen to it.
An ok album. Didn't grab me or draw me in very much.
Interesting. I think the title says it all. Sounds like they are having fun.
A very long album. I could not listen to it in day. Some of the songs are very edgy and had a hard sound to them.
I now understand why there was such a comparison to Michael Jackson. So much of this album is derivative of MJ.
I have heard some of these songs, but I did not know it was The Black Keys. Lots of falsetto. Over all an enjoyable album.
Decided not to listen to any more Kanye West.
Enjoyed this album. Wasn't a hard rocking album, but there was still an edge. There was definitely a strong Southern Rock vibe throughout, and that was refreshing.
I can hear punk undertones in the music. It seem tongue in cheek for many of the songs. It was enjoyable.
Long album. I enjoyed what I heard.
Great album. Full of energy. Uplifting and easy to listen to.
Good album. May different styles. Good quality.
Amazing. Great atmosphere. Hard to believe this was made in 1973. There is definitely that experimental vibe. Really glad I listened to this.
Great album. One I have heard, and would put on any list. From the growling tones, to the remarkable lyrics, this is amazing.
First time for this album. It was good.
Wonderful album. Loved the evolution of this album. Can hear some of the riffs and styles that are on Unforgettable Fire. Highly recommend.
Interesting. A good album.
My first time hearing The Smiths. Not what I expected. Enjoyed the songs. Would listen again.
Prince brings it. Good album, and still very listenable.
Interesting. A good album. Full of rich vocal tones.
Fun and wild. Really good funk!
Listening to this Album for the first time. I was surprised by all the non-vocal songs on this album. But when there is vocals, definitely Bowie.
I found it had decent songs. Not hummable, but one could hear the lyrics. Very depressing lyrics, but that is what the band is all about isn't it?
Wonderful album. I hear the sound of Tom Waits in the voice in many of the songs. Is suspect that is on purpose.
Not a fan. Lots of steel guitar, and country and western lyrics. Not really relatable to my experience. If a person likes this style, it is a quality album for the 70s.
Another album that has the classic 70s sound.
Fun. Didn't realize they did covers as well. Enjoyed the album.
Not my style
Different versions of the songs I have heard.
Good Jazz.
Very hard metal. I thought I would find it unpleasant, but I did enjoy it. The throbbing bass was very engaging.
Great album. I can see why it is so highly rated. Felt very real, and live for a studio album. Everything is tight and it reminded me of jazz more so than rock, but it was definitely rock.
