Bridge Over Troubled Water
Simon & GarfunkelClearly one of the best albums of all time and well worth a listen 5 stars
Clearly one of the best albums of all time and well worth a listen 5 stars
Nice reggae groves. Good listening while working. A little bit monotonous, but otherwise good 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars
Love Blues, but never really listened too deep to Aretha Title track really got me groovin'; the next several really took me back to childhood with the sound and feel (child of the 60s). The song Save Me really moves me. A really good album, but outside of what I would normally be inspired to listen to.
Having just recently watched the Elivis/ Colonel Parker biopic(?) , this was interesting to get in my list. I like Elvis' music; just not my normal fare, and not what I would choose for myself to listen to. But very pleasurable listening. There are some songs here that mean a lot / do a lot to me. Like In the Ghetto and Suspicious Minds . Many of the other are , well, Elvis. Pleasant to listen too, just not what I would normally listen to (even after listening)
Great Album! Tons of Memories!
You can give me a Marley and the Wailers Album every single day to move my world. Great choice, great album.
Never listened to this before. Billy Jack captured me right away and drew me into the mood. Had only known him for things like Superfly, Pusherman. More mellow and sweet groove with some important statements Great groove for a cold Saturday
Starts with one of my all time favorite songs...especially on Seahawks game day (they play this at player intros) Quite a good album
Starts out quite haunting with Sleep to Dream. Haven't listened before...good to have some nice piano backing...By the third song I was a little impacted by the repetition sounds. The whole of the album gets to be a little droll towards the end. I guess it is good for background or sleep.
Simple to rate this one; one of my favorites (but not my favorite Peter Gabriel - that is 3:Melt) Perfect example of the allure of Gabriel's music; along with a few of the more popular tunes he spun. Haunting, Moving, Groovy Goodness
It's the end of the world as we know it...and I feel fine... Don't listen much to REM, but this album has a history as the theme of our end of the world party in 1999 lol.
Never would have listened to before and from the start was grating and repetitious and without real musical value. IMO a couple of songs had some merit and the voice is beautiful, so 2 stars
Gawd; first Beyonce then Taylor Swift? Really? As much as I think it is important to be a bit eclectic, I wish I would get more of stuff I will actually listen too... Of course I am open to new things... So far (4 songs in) as repetitious as expected. I can see the draw to voice and lyrics for pop, I probably listened to some of this kind of stuff, and some some of the rock I listen to goes in this direction, but it is quite droll and repetitious. I listened to 10 songs and no reprieve from the boredom Better than Beyonce is all I can say.
A decent album. Not much variety in the songs. No real good songs to hook you in. 3 stars only
Didn't expect to like it; but I really did. So much better than the pop garbage that has been fed to me here. Still, a bit lacking in genius. But filled with musicality - great to listen to and a very good all over album
Thank You!
Beautiful, sensual, soulful, wonderful This album was miles better than most everything you have given me to date. Seriously I see from reviews that some don't like it as it is not their style; that's okay. But it is so much better than the Taylor Swift and Beyonce stuff you have previously thrown my way I would give it 4.5 stars, but alas, no half stars here so it gets a 5
TBH, not my style of music, but not terrible. But wait a minute - I accidently played a Portishead mix that was not all (or even mostly) this album. So this album specifically...
Classic Grunge. Great Album. There are better songs than those in this collection/album, but solid 4 stars
My opinion really doesn't count here in regards to this being the greatest or one of the greatest hip-hop albums. I am not really into hip hop. Lots of talk out there about the jazz stylings in here. I call BS on that since while there are jazz instruments in there, it doesn't really have anything jazz about it except in the most simplistic ways. (and Jazz is not simplistic) This type music is all about the lyrics and what they say, and there is no draw for me to listen closely or read the lyrics - while I want great lyrics with my music, that is not all I want. Outside of that there is a steady (not jazzy) syncopated beat that shows no ingenuity (in the music, I'm sure the lyrics are great). Just not for me, so you see, that is the only reason, I dis it with a three
Brilliant; Wonderful.
My Second REM album in the short time I've been doping this. Trying to tell me something? This is a very good album. Everybody Hurts is obv. popular, but also one of my favorites
A classic album; always good to listen to. 4 stars
Quite worried with the title if I could listen at work... ;-p Very fun listen. Good stuff. A little jumpy jivey jangly for most of my listening times; but 4 stars.
Have to say, the cover makes him look like a wannabee Bowie Aladdin Sane. Decent Music. Never was much of a Beck enthusiast, but I like this alright... I'd give it 3.5, but only 3 because I have no Halves
Woah - Really? A Country Album from 1963...Okay, I'll listen but this is so far out of what I would listen to... Great quality sound on this. However not my style in any way. For those that this fits, I give it 4 stars; however for me it is whiney stuff...So 2 Stars with that in mind
Really stretching me with 50s Jazz right after 63' country. I can see that if I desired to listen to this , this album would be a 4+ Not sure what criteria to use so giving it a 3...since I would not really listen
While I have been given some really good albums, From the selections I have been given, I think this is really titled "1001 albums someone liked and listened to once" There is a reason these guys are one-hit wonders. Or one-star wonders
Really? WTH. Not even a good recording for what it is, which is utter noise and garbage. One star at best...
Full of classic Sam Cooke in an awesome environment 4 stars
This is the second album I have received by this mediocre band, and still none by countless great artists of the 60s, 70s, and 80s Not bad , but fairly monotonous. 3 stars
Interesting, Not my style to listen too, and I don't know the language. Also a bit mono beat for me. Giving it a 3.5 rounded up to a 4 for that reason - although I am sure it is loved by many (rating is for my consumption)
Not my favorite Steely Dan album (Katy Lied), But pretty much most of them are 5's! Including this one.
Second Steely Dan in a row! Good for me bonus. This is not one of my favorites, but still good - 4 stars
Good album! 4 stars
Weirdly , the second ska white boy wanna be reggae album in a row. Is this algorithm skewed? The previous album I rated a 4 star. This one has pretty poor production quality , but seems a bit more original and incorporates a lot of musical styles. I'll give it 4 stars
Unexpected Pleasure. Thank You 5 Stars
Such a great, sweet listen. 4 stars
Yeah, this is really bad. Why did I have to listen to this anyway? Why is it on this list? To show how bad some content (not music, but wastrel angst and bravado misplaced) 1 star is a bit too good for this garbage.
Good Music and I like the band okay Just wouldn't listen to it because the vocals are screechy chalkboard to me. I can take a couple of songs, just not a whole album 3.5 stars, rounding down to 3
Sweet and soulful
Just Okay - 3 stars
Very good and relatable album. All of them were musical geniuses 4 stars (4.5 actually)
Excellent Album - 4.5
I kinda like this - 3.5, so rounded up this time Don't really know that it is a Must Listen tho...
Good album - listened to this just last week - 4 stars (not my style, but good)
Totally a 5 Star awesome album.
Great album. Classic sound for the times
One of the best prog rock albums of the 70s
Not the best Dire Straits album IMO But still very good
Let's just say that this is not the best complete S&G album However, it is a good one and has some great harmonies and several very special songs (America, Mrs. Robinson,...) 4 star at least
I can see why this is listed as a statement piece However as music, it doesn't really rate being on this list. 4 stars for statement 2 stars for musicality Total = 3 stars
Very Nice Listening - 4 stars
Not their best but close
Always been a sucker for a female voice like this. Good grooves to listen too
One of the best albums ever
Had War previously, which is a decent album. This album is probably their best! 5 stars
not a big fan, but it is a good album - 3.5
ya know, it was okay. Not spectacular. 3.5 stars
Just not near the best Bowie
Never actually listened to this before. Very Nice - enjoyable and unique. 4 stars
I get it. It is a wonderful album for what it is and Coltrane is a master. That's why I give it a 4 star rating, even though jazz is not my jam. I get it.
So, this was a decent album; clearly a continuation of the writing he did as part of Steely Dan. However, it does drone on a bit. The grooves here have always been comforting to this Steel Dan fan; but it only ranks at a 3.5 stars overall.
Excellent Album. Not quite my groove, but worthy of 4 stars...
Class Album with some great grooves. 4 stars all day.
Not their best by a long shot
Weird, not bad 3.5 stars
Sweet Classic Kinks 4 stars
A very good Bruce Effort - 4 stars
Decent - Rather Droning On at Points. 3.5 rounding up to 4
DNF Aggravating Annoying Crap 1 star is generous
Paul Simon (as part of S&G or solo) Was always a favorite of mine. The melancholy wonderfulness of his songs and performances never cease to amaze 4.5 stars
Essentially for me this was arrogant unlistenable garbage. But I do realize it is a classic in the genre. 2 stars for me 4 for fans of the genre Equals 3
Nice listen. Good album 3.5
Clearly one of the best albums of all time and well worth a listen 5 stars
Another 5 star album. Neil had a lot of Really Good albums and a few bombs. This is on the really good side 5 stars
Not terrible, but quite monotonous and jangly. best I can do is 3 stars and probably won't listen again.
Nice reggae groves. Good listening while working. A little bit monotonous, but otherwise good 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars
Classic Greatness - 5 stars BTW - I see some reviews comparing them to Led Zep and others and rating lower because of that. Why? They are a completely different band and style.
A fine album - not quite his best - 3.5 rounding up to 4 stars
Good sweet listening. 4 stars
Egads - Why should I listen to this crap before I die; it has no value beyond a rave or for video game music. 1 star at best
Really not too bad at all. Not sure why it is on this list - but I guess it beat out Nirvana in 1991? 3 stars for me
Nothing to say other than an obvious 5 star
okay
One of my top ten all time. Def a 5
Not great, just decent 3stars
Sweet
Because it is very interesting and I can see it being a must listen, I give it 4 For my tastes it is a 3
Lots of hate for this one in the reviews. I absolutely don't agree. Perfect for the time it was released. If I had been aware of this album I would have bought and loved it. (I was 17) 4 stars
This is a wonderful album. Now I need to go look at the rest of their catalog... 4 stars Funny thing ; after my review I always go look at other reviews. Overall it was rated an average of 3.3...but looking at the reviews, almost all recent reviews are 4 or 5. This service needs a .5 increment rating.
Classic Album and can be considered a one hit wonder album. 4 stars Helps that my wife was singing the beat last weekend...
Yeah, quite droll and boring. 2 stars
I can see the fascination and interest, but for me it is good, but quite janky and hectic - makes it hard to listen to a lot So 3 stars for me
Interesting, not wonderful, interesting 3.5 stars
Nice grooves and hooks. Fits with the grunge times well. 4 stars for me
clearly 5 stars
Lol - Not my style and I wouldn't listen to this in any normal state, but it is really good for what it is and it certainly thumps 4 stars
Good for what it is, but not my groove. It will probably get more than this by an electronic music fan, and probably rightfully deserves it. But for me , the repetitiveness and nervous energy grates too much 3 stars
Nice Pretty Good to Work to Makes me feel good music. Thank You 4 stars for me
Not terrible and has its value, but not sure why this would be a must listen for anyone. Why on this list? 3 star album at best
All of you that follow the troll of hate the fucking eagles; your loss. Great Music. Not their best album, but still 4.75 stars (I feel sorry for you musically starved people)
Decent album; not my style, but 3.5 stars round up to 4
