Brothers
The Black KeysThis all just sounded like the home depot soundtrack. do not like
This all just sounded like the home depot soundtrack. do not like
Hmm. Ok
This isso insanelynostalgic for me like i am so fucking tapped into this. paolo and i used to bond over this album so much i love the vibes and i think that this is their best album by a long shot. I am going to revisit this again so soon
i can’t even make a fun little joke about this. this is quite literally just gorgeous. the world that they created in this album is fucking insane i absolutely love this. This is real music
this was really yummy. Some of the songs kinda ran together but the beautiful ones were beautiful. you can definitely hear dave bringing nirvana into this album
the only time that my ears perked up is when i thought i heard cigarettes and alcohol by oasis and got excited. Cigarettes and alcohol is much better and more exciting. this is the type of music that gets put in the background while you’re playing uno and you don’t really care about i’m just bored truly
this took a while to get through. Do it again is a masterpiece and the rest of it is yacht rock at its finest. It is a shame that i do not like yacht rock
I think that a lot of this was fun! very interesting sonically but it got repetitive at some times and i think that some of the songs were honestly just too long. Her voice is very gorgeous though and i can see how a lot of the artists i have listened to might be inspired by this
I was not really about this and then all of a sudden the last 3 tracks nad me hooked ridiculously. That was completely from left field and I wish thatthe rest of the album was like the ambiance of that
i am literally scared to give this anything other than 3 stars like this shit is SCARY but also i appreciate it hella for that. Anxiety: the album
I had heard the popular stuff like cecilia and the title track and the boxer and whatnot. But every single song on this album could have been the most famous and i wouldn’t have batted an eye. this is just gorgeous front to back and the first truly skipless one i have encountered yet
When i listened to this at first i was SOOO with it like some of the samples in this shit had me hooked but it got more general i fear as it went down. I would listen to this again to study tho i enjoyed
boy about town is a bop <3 Fun little listen but i think there’s other similar albums that i have that id come back to before this one. monday and scrape away are also really fun.
I mean this rlly is just one of the greatest albums of all time. Imagine releasing this as your ELEVENTH studio album and you make this fucking classic. Roger waters i am pouring honey on you goat. maybe im biased because i also grew up around this album but i AM a dark side of the moon / momentary lapse of reason girly so i don’t think i am. Hey you is my favorite
i am recognizing that this is a good and important album, but so many of the songs ran together and sounded so so similar to me that none of them ever really stood out except for maybe the title track. I expected to enjoy this a lot more than i did
i did NOT expect this to be this good this was fucking GAS. real hard mothafuckin rock music. guitar solos were impressive, memorable, and i suspect that the live versions are better than the originals. If this ended after the boys are back in town this would have been a 5 - unfortunately the back half just isn’t as hard as the first. if they were sprinkled between the songs of the first half this might have been a different rating top 3 - dancing in the moonlight, massacre, still in love with you (AND ALL THOSE ARE IN A ROW!!! what a 3 track run)
ummm this was ok. A lot of the songs featured interesting switches in them which i enjoyed but nothing really stuck out to me except for like Shangri-La. I do appreciate however all of the anti-war rhetoric and think that it has nice messaging. top 3 - Shangri-La, Victoria, Some Mother’s Son
genuinely had to stop sometimes to take a break. This felt like a chore to listen to. I tried to give it my best shot but the 22 minute track length just felt like it was fucking me in the ass and I don't really see how this is psychedelic or crazy or wild even for the time.
listen. This is good background music. i definitely much prefer this to the rave music we have now, and it’s kind of crazy how modern this still feels despite being from the mid 90s, because i could easily hear this at a party and not think twice, maybe only that it’s a bit nostalgic. I don’t really have a top 3 though bc it’s hard for me to have certain songs stick out when they all sound very similar and there’s no emotional peaks, which i know isn’t the point, but still. I’d listen to it to study tho.
This actually never stopped fucking banging. some of it is a little cheesy cause like is saying that your teacher is hot hardcore? Well no, but somehow it’s still the best song on the album. makes me wanna grow my hair long again just to headbang that shit 1. hot for teacher 2. i’ll wait 3. house of pain
THIS WAS SOOOO FUCKING FIRE i feel so futuristic so crazy so goth so awesome i need to come back to this. Like the end made me feel like i shouldn’t listen to any more music. wowoeowow
this is rlly the blueprint like. without this there is so much that you don’t have. makes me want to go to the damn sock hop. top 3 - can’t believe you wanna leave, miss ann, tutti frutti
Free bird absolutely annihilated the rest of this album i don’t have anything else to say
fuck with this hardddddd! I love britpop, had some very memorizable moments and i loved when they stepped into the more experimental stuff. I saw some reviews that shit on those moments but those were actually my favorite. Def revisiting, favorite song = it’s not me
“thank you for making jeff buckley” we all say in unison
Enjoyable, i love old music and i was happy bc i felt like i was listening to elvis a lot of the time but if you took a shot for every time he mentioned killing someone you’d be wasted. I suppose it fits the name of the album though
under the bridge so fucking fire. it’s kinda crazy how you can tell that that’s the one that was meant to be popular. Lots of humor and fun moments, definitely sounds different than anything else i’ve listened to on this list so far so big ups top 3 - under the bridge, i could have lied, the power of equality
Perfectly alright. the vibe suits me pretty well and i feel like any of the songs of this album could be used as an end credit song for a 2000s movie. do i think that there needs to be 15 minutes of straight instrumental at the end? no. but the atmospheric shit on this hits. top 3 - whipping tree, good morning, orange
this lowkey aged really fucking bad… also ok just forever be a west coast rap girly i have never really liked east coast / NY rap. I did appreciate when he appreciated black women tho that was cool. mostly not great tho. Didn’t like the F slur. 1.) ain’t the devil happy 2.) da bitchez (cannot believe this is this high) 3.) you can’t stop the prophet
i just really really hate it sorry nick cave
super super groovy. listened to this while studying so i didn't mind as much the songs that seemed to last a million years. I did feel like it was a little bloated and that a lot of the songs had similar themes and vibes that could have been cut. still pretty frickin awesome tho.
I love finding the music that influenced my faves. it was funky, it was nice, but some wasn't as memorable. I did actually enjoy this a lot more than I thought I was going to, to be honest. 1.) summer breeze, pts. 1 & 2 2.) don't let me be lonely tonight 3.) the highways of my life
this is simply not my type of music i’m not an electronica girly. im sorry
i’m in love with the power of goodbye but so many of these songs would just benefit from being shorter. i think almost all of them are over 5 minutes and are slow especially in the second half, nothing to hold my attention to. First half though, if i heard that in the club id definitely be grinding on someone so it really wasn’t all that bad. top 3: the power of goodbye, sky fits heaven, drowned world / substitute for love
the track “right for me” almost dropped this down to a 1 alone. However the rest of it is so guilty pleasure so fun like this is the shit my mom gave me. Cry me a river changed lives top 3 - cry me a river, rock your body, senorita
It really is the time of the mf season. so classic. For some reason i really payed attention to the drums while listening to this one and that elevated the experience, but this is the type of music that i’d put on when everyone is talking over it. And then everyone would sing time of the season because that song is just so mf good top 3: time of the season, butchers tale, beechwood park
This album is something so personal to me. nostalgia bias bc i grew up with it but just like holy fucking wow. Potentially the best closing track of all time. so fun, still sounds fresh today, and i absolutely enjoyed the show top 3 - a day in the life, lucy in the sky with diamonds, she’s leaving home
such an interesting voice!! i have a lot of people around me who love tom waits and i can see why. i kind of felt like i was living another life while listening to this, very stand out!!! 1.) saving all my love for you 2.) jersey girl 3.) heartattack and vine
what a fucking find! absolutely hauntingly beautiful. not gonna lie, the first half of the album was a lot better than the second, but once you get into delicate cutters again it almost brought me to tears. very fresh and an amazing precursor to a lot of 90s shit. i agree with the other comments about the goats though. still, i WILL be downloading this shit onto my apple music. I think it's a 4.5 but i'm gonna round down. 1.) hate my way 2.) green 3.) call me
this honestly really surprised me. the first song i thought was really annoying and your dictionary has some of the stupidest fucking lyrics i’ve ever heard in my life, but other than that, this creates a totally unique soundscape (sometimes for better, sometimes for worse) there are very few times when an album allows me to perk up and think that i’ve just heard something new, so thank you to this paul mccartney-meets-tears-for-fears! 1.) easter theatre 2.) i can’t own her 3.) knights in shining karma
Bring back real pop music!!!!!!!! i wish there was more pop music on this list. Captivated my attention and is different than a lot of pop music that i’ve listened to and she’s so punk top 3 - time after time, witness, girls just wanna have fun
elvis costello is at his best when he’s slowly crooning and that really shows in this. he shines the most when he’s really getting down and dirty but other than that, i think it was just mostly solid. definitely do think that this is a lot better than most of the 70s stuff i’ve listened to 1.) chelsea 2.) little triggers 3.) no action
like every other rap album of this era it just didn’t age very well HOWEVER this is one of the best rap albums that has been on the list so far! did NOT enjoy the rape song. 1.) passin me by 2.) ya mama (it was fun ok) 3.) i’m that type of —
it’s always been fuck courtney love but you literally can’t argue with perfection. this is what it feels like to be a woman: scarred and raw and just fucking angry!!!! i love everything about it 1.) jennifer’s body 2.) miss world 3.) asking for it
eh literally nothing memorable, it felt like palatable riotgrrl
DUSTY I WAS UNAWARE OF YOUR GAME. Son of a preacher man is NOWHERE near the top of this list. i want to listen to this every day for the rest of my life 1.) no easy way down 2.) breakfast in bed 3.) windmills of your mind
better than the other steely dan album that was on here, but do it again is still better than anything on here. Another version of uno music but the good kind this time. only memorable track was night by night
this album is exactly what i want to sound and look like. Slugged a little bit towards the middle but overall love love love. 1.) Stolen Car 2.) Central Reservation (The Then Again Version) 3.) Stars All Seem To Weep
i really appreciate this era of rock music because it feels very transitional and almost like some of the last of its kind. Not every song is a banger and the slower cuts are better than the garage band sessions, but very enjoyable. 1.) Riot Van 2.) Mardy Bum 3.) Red Light Indicates Doors are Secured
damn im horny wtf. This was HOTT as fuck i loved it lowkey. So. i'll have to listen to it again to get the top 3 sorry !
it was good it was really really good i just cannot fucking do an songs above 7 minutes i can't. I can't listen to one set of drums for like 16 minutes. very very technically impressive but i'd never revisit.
lowkey making paint it black the first track is clickbait. everything about paint it black is otherworldly and ahead of its time and the rest of the album seems to get somewhat stuck in that same period. Still some interesting instrumentation but somewhat of a let down. 1.) paint it black 2.) under my thumb 3.) lady jane
impressive how this album has some of the biggest, best hits of the 80s that literally sound so modern even to this day and then it has the most stuck in the glory days songs ever back to back. Makes it hard to rate but i’ll put it down the middle. 1.) you give love a bad name 2.) wanted dead or alive 3.) livin on a prayer sorry that it’s just the popular ones, they’re popular for a reason!
lowkey this was just ok. I didn't really click with the lead voice much. like its fine. 1.) stop your sobbing 2.) brass in pocket 3.) ....????? idk i only rlly liked those two
this absolutely bangs. Hardcore and each track truly felt like it brought something individual to the table, which I find was pretty difficult to do during their era of music. I feel like this album alone would have been enough for me to be alternative in the 80s. i will say though, it kind of sounds like it came from a bit earlier in the decade than what it's actually from. I would have expected this to be a lot earlier than 87. 1.) love removal machine (what a classic) 2.) wild flower 3.) peace dog
this was absolutely fantastic. Just absolute joy everywhere. it's no wonder that miles davis is considered one of the greatest to ever do it -- putting jazz on the map for so many types of people and doing it absolutely flawlessly. timeless and beautiful!!!
what a sick little ditty! this album is genuinely so important with the messaging and themes and times and there's truly almost nothing like it. Shoutout Paul Simon man. while i do prefer his folk work, this is undeniable. 1.) under african skies 2.) you can call me al 3.) homeless
in all honesty, I actually really loved this. Surprising simply because i don't usually mess with Leonard Cohen like that, but this felt raw and pretty and it was the perfect backing to my studying.
i think this was a lot better than the album that Where Is My Mind was on (surfer rosa, I believe). It felt more coherent, more together and more elevated. 1.) Here Comes Your Man 2.) Hey 3.) La La La Love You
now this is some mf blues... i still have the same gripe as a lot of the albums from this time period which is that a lot of the songs just sound so damn similar and it's hard to differentiate. however, real easy, delicious listening -- i found myself preferring the studio tracks that were tacked onto the end the most.
i actually liked this quite a bit more than i thought i would. First couple tracks didn't have me that crazy but there was some nice grooves, i didn't expect them to get down like that. other than that though, pretty basic 70s rock. did expect it to be a lot harder fro a band called bad company. 1.) ready for love 2.) the way i choose 3.) don't let me down
LOVED the soulful vibe of this. it felt so human and raw. Tbh if i listen to it again this could be a five cause im feeling a 4.5 on it. 1. Piano Joint 2. Hero 3. Solid Ground
this was real real good and soulful as HELL. travis scott mentioned also so that was cool. every song was so cool in its own way except for the last one because i was literally so incredibly grossed out when it was quite literally just FART NOISES THE WHOLE TIME????????????????? don't piss me off.
I've heard Nocturnal Me before and i am lowkey in love with the spooky vibes of it. a couple times i kind of felt like a pirate sailing on a mission which i fuck with, especially in the yo yo man. Not all of it hit fully, but it's pretty solid especially if it's meant to be a concept album. 1. crystal days 2. the killing moon 3. seven seas
how can you have wouldn’t it be nice, god only knows, and sloop john b in one album and not expect it to be a classic? it makes me nostalgic for a time and a person that i never even knew. i will be revisiting this so often. 1. god only knows 2. wouldn’t it be nice 3. caroline, no
this has always been one of my favorite albums so i might be biased. What a soundscape, what excellent excellent brilliant 80s pop. no other words can be spoken. 1.) everybody wants to rule the world 2.) the working hour 3.) head over heels / broken
Where’s my mind is literally fucking INSANE but this one will take me a few tries to really get into. Nonetheless, the vibe is definitely up my alley and i really enjoy some of the more screamy bits. tony’s theme is so so much fun!!! 1.) Where’s my mind 2.) tony’s theme 3.) cactus
sometimes i dont really understand how this album works, simply because it opens with nicki minaj doing a poor british accent but has some of the best hip hop of my generation, so idk. fuck kanye, but damn this album has some highs (including i sent this bitch a picture of my diccckkkkkk) 1.) runaway 2.) devil in a new dress 3.) blame game
yk the beginning of this album is absolute dog shit. But the second half is good. so i legitimately don't know what to rate it. I'll give it a 3 i guess because i'd rather it end well. 1.) famous blue rain coat 2.) sing another song, boys 3.) diamonds in the mine (i know this is kind of awful but it was somewhat different and i kind of appreciated it)
don’t trust anyone who doesn’t give this a 5. Is and will always be the best rap album of its time. every single song takes you on another journey. THIS DICK AINT FREEEEEE
Jaw on the floor this truly might be one of my favorite albums of all time. i can’t believe ive never listened before this is SO me. it’s raw it’s emotional it’s beautiful. I’m completely obsessed. 1.) say yes 2.) angeles 3.) alameda but this ranking is SO tight. one of the first that i actually had a lot of trouble selecting the tops based on merit and not that i had nothing to say about them
rem hasn't ever been my favorite 90s alt outfit but they might climb higher on my list after listening to some of the deep cuts. definitely gave the college rock playlist vibes. 1.) the wrong child 2.) world leader pretend 3.) you are the everything
as a non-u2 enjoyer, i think this is their best work. it’s conceptual and sunday bloody sunday will always be their best song. I still don’t think it’s revolutionary and i think there are a lot of other albums that make similar commentary that i would listen to before this one. 1.) sunday bloody sunday 2.) “40” 3.) red light
fairly standard stuff, pretty foundational psychedelic shit. Somewhat repetitive in places but would go insanely hard as the soundtrack to like a sunday barbecue. 1.) too much on my mind 2.) dandy 3.) sunny afternoon
i mean. This is kinda tough because I feel like they try to do so much, they just threw stuff at the wall and hoped it stuck. and most of the time, it didn't. If you heard the first 30 seconds of each song, you heard the whole thing. the best song was red light and the rest of them aren't worth listening to.
i mean just like. Wow. he kind of did his big one with this i can’t believe i’ve never heard this before ever. such insane atmosphere and vibes created i feel like im in another world, and it’s my favorite thing ever when albums can do this. lowkey i need to get high to this. 1.) cowboy movie 2.) id swear there was somebody here 3.) what are their names
This was good, but i felt like the entire second half was them just begging this one girl to stay. Girl stand up! she doesn’t want you! i also preferred the more classic sound to the more psychedelic. 1.) love is a hurtin thing 2.) don’t let him take your love away from me 3.) hey girl
i listened to this album directly after listening to the other miles davis album involved on this, and somehow, it just didn't hit the same. I think i prefer the older jazz.
