Space sounds! While I do love a good planetarium sound I like it more ambient and the feeling I get from this album is more on the “whimsical/silly” end. Although “New Star in the Sky” was a good one!
I appreciate it for what it is and I do dig synth.
The background singers! Also, wish I lost my virginity to this album.
I don’t get it.
I guess I appreciate the energy but I found it mostly irritating.
Young British dudes covering American Blues? I’m down.
Just pretty isn’t it? Vibes like a summer day.
Dudes all so good you gotta name em all right?
Am I giving this a 4 JUST for Killing Moon? You bet it am.
Maybe I’m amazed is a banger but I think the rest would need to marinate with me to have a larger impact.
I actually checked to make sure my speakers were working. When I realized they were I didn’t understand why I was made to listen to someone experimenting with Apple’s Garage Band.
I like Radiohead. But not I have to say I like MOST Radiohead because this one was a snoozer.
Her voice is like butter. I like the review about Stevie Nicks dropping acid while hearing this record. Overa, not my thing but that voice is indeed enchanting.
I had to bail 5 songs in. I felt annoyed and like I was in a store at the mall that has nothing of interest to me. Even the track with “reverse Star Wars” was annoying.
With my newfound love of Scotland I wanted to like this more.
Do…I like more folk music than I thought?
Pure 1994 nostalgia. There are some bangers in here is still listen to regularly.
Dance/synth from the 2010s ish wouldn’t normally be my thing but I LOVE Karen’s vocals with it. That said, this isn’t my favorite album of theirs. Rating 2 stars because I know I like the latest album better.
Just imagine finding this when it was released in the late 70’s. Even weirder then!
Well this is a surprise! The second track reminded me of the suspense part of a muppets movie. And it just got a bit funkier from there! So happy to know this!
It’s just not my style. It quickly fades into “background 80’s guitar” in a way I don’t find inspiring.
Wut.
This was solid! I of course never listened to the whole album and now I’m glad I did. Maybe I’ll dance to it at Manray one night.
Well wasn’t this just lovely! I wouldn’t have thought to go Bossa Nova and I am so so happy we did!
Not a fan. Tried it and still not a fan. Would reconsider if I was in Ireland at an outside pub and wine drunk.
Sigh. I can’t get into the vibe. And it was so long it felt like a slog.
Cheesy.
Early 90’s grunge! What’s not to love. Other than the drug worship lyrics. The sound influenced some of the bands I listen to today. Plus Would? from the Singles soundtrack? C’mon.
Dramatic vocals in a way I do not like.
I dig this energy! Some of these are familiar or maybe just been ripped off over time. Glad I finally got to listen to it!
I don’t often reach for jazz but when I come upon it and it’s good, I deeply appreciate it. This included.
It’s a classic for a reason
So her voice is mysterious and pretty. I think maybe I just associate it with adult things I didn’t want to understand from the 80s? Like how mauve was a popular color?
This was confusing. Is it creepy clown music? Or is it hauntingly beautiful and strange? And why am I oddly captivated by it?
Seemed almost like more like “trip hop” than Indie rock at times, I dig it! Nice find!
Well isn’t this a lovely surprise! “Out yonder where the blue begins, The moon will guide us as we go drifting along…Let’s build a stairway to the stars”
90’s grunge so I already like it but the vocals and raw energy is so distinct! I just really like them.
Not their best. Gotta start somewhere though. Seeing it live is better than this production.
The non major hits on this are even better than I thought!
It didn’t offend but didn’t hook me either.
This morning I said “I like the Doors”. I realize now I meant “I like the EARLY Doors”. I admit I like Riders on the Storm but note how different it is from the rest of the album.
I am in need of a very chill vibe right now so this started out on a high note for me. It was like a more modern day easy listening. And then it got weird. Giving it a 3 though cause of the vibe I needed.
I like the earlier stuff better but this this at my 90’s heart strings.
“ From distant star to this here bar The me, the you, where are we now? Hurray the blues of everyone ALLYSON” Enough said.
So like the other Stevie album I’m going with a 3 because I do appreciate it for what it is. This whole album gives me Sesame Street flashbacks? I hadn’t heard Saturn before and I love it!!
Runn too the hiiiiiiillllls
When I put it on the dog left the room.
I’d tap my toe to it in a waiting room.
I like to say “planetarium” instead of “sanitarium”. This one is sort of played to death in our home. I associate it with bar pizza. And now I’m hungry.
What a tender jazzy little album! Love and Affection was JUST on a show I was watching so I was so happy to hear it again so soon!
I know it’s important. It’s not my vibe.
I admit it now. I like some folk. That Percy song also got me through some brutal traffic.
It’s not my favorite PE album but it’s solid and gets 3 stars just for the Vincent Price laugh track in 911.
