The Beach Boys Today!
The Beach BoysNot my preferred Beach Boys.
Not my preferred Beach Boys.
I'm a Bleach fan, but Dumb is great song. Kurt is very relatable.
Hell, I don't think most of us need to listen to this to know it's a classic. He's a master and a unique gem.
This was a mega hit album full of guitar blasting hard rifs and gritty lyrics.
Oddly this album doesn't hold up as well as a I remember. There are some major hits on it that are still great but the album as a whole is repetitive and boring.
Beautifully written and some pretty good musicianship.
One of the best albums I've heard. Thom Yorke was way ahead of his time.
So challenging. Love the band, love the sound, love five songs off this album. But it doesn't seem well produced as a whole album. Everyone loves to say nobody makes albums anymore, but the 70s and 80s are full of hit packed albums without a lot of substance just as much in current times.
Tough one. I enjoyed this album in it's entirety when it came out, but now it feels a little disjointed. I still love it, but to me not as good album as The Bends.
Sigh. Sigh. Sigh. You know when someone sings this at Karaoke, they are not to be trusted. ;) No, Adele is so talented. Not my fav style of singing. If it were more soulful, I might dig it.
She's a unique voice in a time when grunge was king. Spirited and sexy she's a tough nut. Apparently "Into My Arms" by Nick Cave was written about her. Still a bit out of my wheelhouse, but I can appreciate her strength and talent.
Tough one. I'm not sure what to say but this is what it is. Theatrical albums were nothing new when this came out but it's not something I want to listen to. Musically the guy seems very talented.
Shaft is an epic soundgasm that perfectly matches the film.
Great music on this album, but only a few hold up as classic songs. I'm a Rumors fan, but it is more Stevie and that is what I really love about the band.
Great Album. I ended up listening to Bob the entire day.
Hard to listen to all of it. I just left it in the background. Not sure I really liked it.
Not really my thing, but I feel like I've danced to Saturday Night and maybe a few others back in the day. The piano intro from Eddie Palmieri on Dona Isabelle was pretty beautiful.
Man, I'm so confused when it comes to the funk bands. I clearly need to do a deep dive. This album is great, but is it the best funk music? I'll tell you when you are older. - Joey
I think Offspring deserves its place, but it's not my jive and a little repetitive in its sound.
I never listened to this album. I'll definitely put it in my mix with Townes Van Zandt.
Didn't listen to the whole thing, but it seemed pretty groovy.
At first I wanted to like this album a lot as one of the songs is a classic. But in the end it kind of failed for me.
Most of this album is epic. It's long however and could use some editing kinda like a Stephen King novel. ;)
This album slows down time, in a good way. I can get behind is vibe, but not one of my favorites.
Junior High kids were super proud of their Def tees. I didn't like them much back then, but I have to say these guys are the kings of the hair metal bands.
I'm a big fan of The Stone Roses and when they brought in the front man from that band with this album it really struck a cord. This will be a nice add to my list. Some of it doesn't connect tho, hence the three stars.
Enjoyable listen.
Not my favorite Taylor album, but it was what brought her into Pop stardom. I'm just going to leave a _________
I can see potential, but somehow it misses the mark.
I really despise live albums. I don't want to hear cheering, I want to hear the music. So many hits and definitely a progressive band for the time. I find some of the harmonies awkward.
TBH, I totally forgot about him, but then I was like oh yeah. That guy. I can always dig a good DJ, but hard to look at it from a produced album. I like intuitive DJ performances.
1966, wowza! These guys to me are so much cooler than the Beatles. The whole album however doesn't do it for me. But some great songs.
Didn't know of this offshoot. Seams like a coked up version of Human League.
Always a good listen.
That is a fried nutter butter of a music listen. Brain trippin', nutty keys and crunchy sounds. But also gave rise to some shitty christmas music like Manheim Steamroller.
I forgot about her sadly. What a romantic soul. She can sing to me any day.
Missed this somehow yesterday. I wouldn't hold much luck for the CCR though dude.
Perfect Way is the only song that works. Otherwise this album is garbage.
New Order has always been a guilty pleasure. A lot of history with this band and its former incarnation. It is hard to beat Substance, but this is decent album.
Love the band. Good album. Not my top.
What an icon. But a bit too much poetry reading for me. Most of these songs sung by different singers sound really amazing. Proof the writing is really good.
Lovely voice from a talented family.
Interesting listen.
Good stuff. Needs editing, but smooth lyrics.
One of those albums that sounds great the first couple times you hear it but then feels like a ren-fair gone bad over time.
Southern music with an edge. This is a good album. Those Van Sant boys are pretty damn talented.
Primal awesomeness. Speed, hysteria and thrashing chaos.
Can we just cancel Phil Spector. The talent on this album deserves to have his name removed permanently.
I can't listen to this too much, but it is a masterpiece. I had to do some digging to see who that was on the cover with him. It's an interesting story and certainly a big defining inspiration to this albums content.
Good album. Not their best. I think it gets high rating for one of the songs.
Classic punk or angry misogyny?
Classic but not something I'd listen to per say.
I'm not too into big brass bands of this era. But definitely a talented dude.
Good album. My first listen. They are certainly nuthing to F'ck with.
Good stuff. Not all of it, but some well produced songs that were trend setting.
Pretty impressive and sounds like it could be made even today.
Great listen. Very massive attack feeling but yet sometimes not. Talented artist.
Fun listen.
It's ok. I must be picky with my jazz tastes. This one didn't sit well with me.
Not my cup of tea. But they are a classic band. The music fits with the times for sure.
Pretty voice. But really not my thing.
Now I know where Die Antword got their sound. Danced to so many of his songs in the early 2000s.
Always a good listen.
Some great songs on this album, but the album is so-so and has repetitive blues riffs.
Elvis at his best before he got to be too reckless. No big hits, but the album is consistent and reflects his style well.
Omaha, you've been weighing heavy on my mind indeed.
Very Radiohead inspired and I feel like there must be a few other bands mixed into their inspiration. Ben Folds? Not sure. Certainly some big hits on this one. Album is goodish.
She would have been fun to party with. But more importantly, she had a sharp wit with a swingin' delivery.
Good album. They were just finding their sound. You could see them searching for inspiration from so many bands.
Yeah, said, it's alright.
Not my preferred Beach Boys.
Makes you want to hippie dance for sure.
I'm a Bleach fan, but Dumb is great song. Kurt is very relatable.
This guy really likes this dude. It's our second album. Don't get me wrong, he's the master at what he does, but this isn't the most amazing type of music in my mind.
One of my all time favorite songs is on this album. Wild Horses. The Stones are great. Bit of blues stealing going on, but nothing to admonish for.
I think this is an interesting artist. But it stops at that. I'm not sure why he's a must listen.
Such an important band at least for my generation. Piercing experimental guitar sounds and ambivalent, frustrated, anxiety ridden lyrics make them very cathartic to listen to.
Hell, I don't think most of us need to listen to this to know it's a classic. He's a master and a unique gem.
So good.
TBH, I forgot about this album. My bad. It was a major hit and on most every playlist to this day. Not amazing, but worth noting.
Let's be honest. Neil likes to speak the truth. But man is he dillusional. He think he can have a threesome with Pocahontas and Marlin Brando. lol.
I can't get behind older Bowie. Music is odd that way.
I think there are some big fans of Crowded House, but this album is the pits. I think they are basically borrowing from every band in the 70s and taking all energy out of it.
Rufus has a flare for the theatrical and this album shows it. Great voice, but this is not good. He's like that prince in the Holy Grail. "But Father, I'd rather....sing!"
This album starts out with some great hits. It's still overall good. I love how that album cover is a reciprocal version of Robert Palmer's album. She was so ahead of her time and defines sexy cool. I feel like I should be listening on a 8-track in a Ford Pinto.
It’s probably his best album.
Some nice experimental guitar riffs, but the album is not particularly awesome.
These guys are great. Not everybody's cup of tea, but hugely influential in the ambient world. I could also see them as big Koyaanisqatsi inspired. Roygbiv is s design nerds favorite. Sadly, I've listened to it than most Beatles songs.
Bring on the stimulants and go nuts. Great for 18 year old moshing and spinning like a whirling dervish.
Not feeling this Elvis album. But it is a classic.
This album could use a producer to edit and keep their theatrical whims at bay. Big hits on here.
