Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Jan 10 2025

Surprisingly chill. Got a very warm analog sound. Don’t love the lyrics for most of it, but great mix of unique sounds and samples (voice, strings, guitar). Cool album. Don’t think I’d hunt it out too often, but wouldn’t change a lot of the songs. Obviously Clint Eastwood is a mellow banger. Lyrics feel world on this one since I was young.

Fulfillingness' First Finale by Stevie Wonder
Jan 11 2025

Stevie continues to be the best artist, musician, songwriter I know of, that I just don’t know how to get into. The front half of this album just was not for me, back house picked up a lot in my theme and style preference. More funk, a little darker at times. But Stevie Wonder does more experimental and creative stuff in pop music during this time than anyone. Wish I liked it more.

Entertainment by Gang Of Four
Jan 11 2025

Not my favorite, some interesting stuff. I’m betting pretty innovative in ‘79, just not vibing with me. I think it’s the vocals. Loved the first songs opening and was excited for the album till the vocals came in

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Jan 12 2025

Classic Willie, album has too many instrumental breaks for me, and not enough variety in sound. Theme was a little too one note here. But still solid, and a cool concept album. First album I’ve had on this list that was a an entire artwork that requires all its parts to experience/appreciate.

Jan 13 2025

Banger. Great. Had no idea about this album or Lauryn Hill. Can’t believe she only has one solo album. Hoping the fugees comes up down the road. This was really good.

Ramones by Ramones
Jan 14 2025

Ramone’s are decent. Fun listen on way to work this morning. Are all their songs basically the same here? Yes. Did I still sing along to blitzkrieg bop and head bang? You betcha.

Legalize It by Peter Tosh
Jan 15 2025

Classic reggae, pretty chill, nothing too spectacular but solid throughout.

Tonight's The Night by Neil Young
Jan 16 2025

Neil young is great. Solid little album, not my favorite of his stuff. But enjoyable

White Ladder by David Gray
Jan 17 2025

Great little album, don’t know how I hadn’t Hurd of it. Really enjoyed it.

Van Halen by Van Halen
Jan 18 2025

Great album. Tons of rocking fun. Loved it

Phrenology by The Roots
Jan 19 2025

Solid first half. Really enjoyed it. Back half got a little too experimental for me. Overall fun time.

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Jan 20 2025

Super fun. Good beat. Ha ha. Really enjoyed it. Couple weird tracks. Guess that’s why it’s new wave.

The White Album by Beatles
Jan 21 2025

Classic. Incredible. How do you write so many good songs in so many genres. Top marks.

Jan 22 2025

Decent jazzy album. Nothing amazing. Quite short… but fun little listen.

Tank Battles by Dagmar Krause
Jan 23 2025

Interesting… I liked the orchestrations, the singing had kind of a haunting sound. It meshed together in a weird spooky way.

Justified by Justin Timberlake
Jan 24 2025

Was fun. I didn’t remember so much of this album being filler though. Couple great songs but otherwise just fine.

Jan 25 2025

Just excellent. So much fun. Great blues, rock, funk, and new age sounds. Elton john is incredible, even if a couple tracks drag. I didn’t wanna skip a song the entire hour.

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Jan 26 2025

Decent album. A few gems. But felt more like background.

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
Jan 27 2025

Just didn’t vibe with this. Kinda in and out the whole time.

Dummy by Portishead
Jan 28 2025

I guess at the time this might have been novel… but I found it terribly generic and uninteresting. The vocals and lyrics were just not impressive. Few of the songs felt like they had a cohesive musical thought, yet most managed to only have one 17 second piece of music played on repeat for 4 minutes. With an occasional extra percussive sound added partway through. Overall felt more like two high schoolers found a drum machine and a synthesizer.

Jan 31 2025

3 electronic albums in a row, they do keep getting better, but none of them are spectacular. Modern electronic music just really outshines it by my standard. Just another meh.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Mar 07 2026

Banger to open, makes you “gotta get up”. Nice vibey guitar for driving follows it. Really nice lead in. Mellows, then slays on without you. Then immediately chills out with “coconut”. Can’t help but smile. Great and a little odd album.

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Mar 11 2026

The album isn’t bad. And for the time it’s very high quality. The lyricism is solid. But musically it’s pretty uninteresting of a full listen through, then finishes on a great track “scenario” that feels really refreshing when you finally get to it. This album shows more about how far hip hop has come than the heights of what it was.
