Cheap Thrills
Big Brother & The Holding CompanyJanis is so good.
Janis is so good.
I was never a huge fan, but Tre Cool's drumming is better than I remembered. This is the first time I have actually read all the lyrics. The over-all tone struck me as nihilistic and somewhat anti-religious.
Not my jam. Great voice tho.
Love the combination of jazz, audible lyrics and overall positivity of this album. 8/10
6/10. Several tunes I really like.
10/10
So so so good. Janis is one of my favorite voices. Had to listen to this one three times in a row. 10/10
Not for me. Too syruppy and sweet.
7/10
Not my vibe.
Loved this. First time hearing it.
Perfect for massage music
too slow.
As a 20 something in the early 80s, I had a disdain for Steely Dan. My boss told me to just wait awhile and I'll appreciate it. He was right! Love this album by a phenomenal artist.
Exceptional. Great tunes for a rainy Sunday morning. The Merry Minstrel.
Meh. A couple of good tunes.
mehhh. Not my jam. Too orchestral for me.
I hear early REM, a little Ziggy, kinda raw. I dig it.
Meh

Loved this album
Janis is so good.
Not a fan.
Boring. Coffee house background. Nothing really notable to my ears.
Not my jam but it was interesting.
Exceptional music by an oustanding band.
Mehhh
Sometimes chaotic, sometimes jazzy, sometimes both simultaneously. Ethereal. After about the 5th song , they all sounded alike. There wasnt one that stood out. Nothing memorable here.
Took me back to when I was 16. Glad I'm not 16 anymore. Some good stuff, some kinda boring. Not terribly exciting to me. Almost everyone I knew that liked music back then bought this album.
Love this album. It's hard to believe I didn't have it in my rather small collection—so very relevant today. In a world of George Michael, Tracy Chapman, and Dirty Dancing, these guys hit hard. Seeing these guys rock on MTV was amazing to me.
There is no soul to this music. Very forgettable. Just play it in the background and never bring it up.
I so very much want to like this.
First listen, I was hoping for maybe something a little more. Realized it sounds like a bunch of other bands from that era. Nothing really trail-blazing or original. Some catchy pop in there. 2nd time through ....felt the same as the first.
really want to like this one. Cmon Eileen did stand out but I think it was my familiarity with the tune. Always thought that was a cool song with the arrangement and the change of tempo throughout. The rest of the album nothing really stood out and grabbed me.
Unfortunately I'm not in on the joke here. Everyone raves about this, describing it as iconic and groundbreaking. I don't get it.
This is Bossa Nova? Didnt know that. I am waiting for that one jazz album that hooks me. Every time one comes up on this random album generator, I have a kind of letdown feeling on one hand and genuine curiosity on the other. This is perfect 1960's pool party music. Sits in the background and provides atmosphere. Ended up listening to it whilw driving as well as drinking coffee in the morning. I think I like it.
What is this? WHile I appreciate that it is something new to me, I did not care to listen to it.
They just keep evolving and innovating! Love this album. Reading in the wiki it says this was their magnum opus. Not sure I would agree although this is a very fine album top to bottom. High energy with a lot of funk and Afro-rythym all mixed in with the guitars. This band is the shit!
Noise. I don't feel it.
70's soul and a concept album. Life story is tragic. I wonder if my parents listened to Marvin? I hope so.
Stellar.
